    The 200 amp pass through makes this an incredible solution. I believe there are around 90 million homes in the US with 200 amp services and cutting this inverter in between the meter and the panel makes for the easiest installation out there. Can't wait to couple it with the smart load. 14. I've installed the 15K on three homes and they perform great! Thanks for the review Will. It's a beast.

      The man himself! The 15k is a beast but we are having interconnection issues with certain utilities that require an AC production meter. Obviously there’s no way to meter PV only on the AC side with DC strings… it’s a bummer.

    • @TheJjyoung333
      @TheJjyoung333 Před 2 lety

      @@MrThat0nekid My utility in midwest required the extra PV AC meter to monitor AC production to grid even though I have smart meter that measures incoming and outgoing current. I believe you can still install a 15k with extra PV AC meter by installing the required AC main 200A disconnect that would be fed from the extra PV AC meter to the 15K AC input connection. When I considered tapping the Main AC line to connect the 15k to my home, the cost and time with no power were a deal breaker for me. If you need the 200A pass through, it is a great option. After logging power usage on my home for 8 months, I don't need that much power at once.

    I installed the 12K on my off grid cabin. If I can do it, anybody can. It has been flawless running a 3/4 hp 500ft deep well pump, 12 inch Miter saws, medium size compressor, large table saw and everything else I have thrown at it. Granted, I'm not running a normal house loads (dryers/ranges), but I have a feeling that it would work fine if I did, as long as I stay below the inverter limits. People say it's expensive, but to me it was so cheap, because it just works, and I don't have to screw around with it. Its all about VALUE, not cost..

    Used the 8k since 2019 100% off grid and the 12k outdoor since 2020. These things just work, I have a lot of tools like welder, chop saws, compressor and ac in two areas and can run everything with adequate balancing.
    The scalability I think is a delight with the 12-15k. To add solark customer support is extremely good, they actually gave me a huge discount on the second item when they heard I lost the 8k in a wildfire. Great company to support.

    Great review and also love the product. Keep in mind although there is a 200 amp transfer switch, the max continuous output of the inverter off-grid is 62.5 amps at 240 volts. So the wire and transfer switch rating is for pass through current (grid to load) not off grid output current. It doesn’t supply more power then a competitive 15 kW inverter, it’s just the installation it’s self is greatly simplified and the selection of back up loads isn’t necessary.

The bottom half of this unit is really impressive with the selection of hardware items they used.

      I am looking to get this same battery, two actually but the 19k version. I use about 66Kwh per day on our home. I want to recharge and run off solar only. No reliance on the grid or have to constantly recharge batteries with a generator. What are you doing to charge up the batteries? How many circuit panels you have? I have 400 watts coming into the home. Each leg (200watts) is running to a separate main breaker box. Then I have 125 watts splitting off one of the mains and runs to the other side of the home and powers two smaller sub panels.

I have a fridge, small freezer, water softener, well, do 1 load of wash per week, 40g hot water heater and central hvac plus a very small pantry ac unit. My house it tight/ very well insulated. I don't use a dish washer, hardly watch TV, hardly cook, all led lighting... house is 2100sqft. I think the central ac is the main culprit. I live in the deep south. Plus my bill went up $60 a month directly after the meter was replaced with a smart meter. My hot water is also on a timer. We are 100% electric. I'm here to see about cutting my electric with partial off grid solar for the well, pantry ac, fridge and freezer mainly. If I had known in advance all of the problems I was going to have getting my first Sol-Ark 12k to work with my solar battery bank, I would have waited until now and purchased a Sol-Ark 15K. It took me almost two years to get the 63V Sol-Ark 12K model I had originally ordered that was substituted with a 59V model I didn't even know Sol-Ark made. Because I needed to run my LTO batteries at 61V Nominal I couldn't use the 59V model. Now, I have a new outdoor model sitting beside another one just like it sitting in it's box in my shop, waiting to be installed. The only pro's are that if one breaks down, I still have the other and I have more power than I will ever use. But, the amperage of the 15K, wow! I could really do a lot of welding with it as well as running anything on my off-grid farm without any worries. What a unit!

    Thank you so much Will for everything you do online. I personally found out that Solark and Growatt are good for my purposes. I never use "the best" expression because whatever works for you is your best. People just buy the most of what they can afford (be batteries, panels etc...) I just don't know why people don't just put all the necessary things on one board and have people buy them just to hook up the batteries and panels to the board (for small and midsize) off grid systems? Most people will try to hook up 2 to 6 panels and 2 to 6 batteries together. Then keep adding few more when need be. They will like it or love it, then ask for a professional setup by professionals. Just a suggestion and the feedback will help.

    I have 2 primary - 110V inverters, 4K and 3K, plus several 400 - 1200W for rarely used devices on different "legs".

    Starting out on my Solark15k DIY build. Just pulled the trigger on a Solark15k, (6) eg4 version 2 batteries for closed loop to the inverter and (24) blue sun 460watt bifacial panels and they all just got delivered. I plan on doing 3 strings of 8 panels in series to this beast. Will, still waiting on your video for this install. In the meantime @engineer775 has hands down the best videos in the realm on the solark15k installs. I am a little miffed about missing the EMP hardening on the Solark15k inverter which was just released. A couple of grand more with EMP hardening, however you get piece of mind.

    • @MrEgigas
      @MrEgigas Před rokem +1

      If you have micro-inverters you have AC from the roof and would not need this dc to ac string inverter. You could trade your micro-inverters for optimizers or tigo modules for the rapid shut-down. Of course off-grid is permit optional for many considering you no longer need approval for the grid tie. Then simply sell the micro-inverters to get some money back for them and forget the rapid shut down. Speaking as a former firefighter, cutting holes in the roof is not that helpful. Only the US does it. Surround and drown is a much safer and common approach. In short, the whole rapid shutdown is a money making load of crap but i'm straying off topic or "venting".

    My friend and I have installed 3 of the 12K's and we love our Sol Arks! They have incredible customer service, the units are beefy and nearly bulletproof. We have one hooked up to a 90kwh battery bank and running a constant load of about 6700w with the help of 4 additional solar chargers and it's been handling all the situations we have thrown at it like a camp and all of it's safety faults and warnings have really helped us protect or setup along our learning curve! Cant say enough good things about it. Glad to see you have the 15K! Exciting stuff!!!

      @The Osborns We need them to charge up our massive battery bank for Bitcoin mining at night. We used Growatt 48v 120A charge controllers and our battery bank is 18x 48v EG4-LL's. We've had some challenges balancing the settings of the Sol Ark and charge controllers with our batteries. All different brands and no fancy communication. But they are running nicely now. We have the CC's set to .5v under our max voltage set on our Sol Ark. If you, Will or anyone else has any suggestions on pairing charge controllers with an all-in-one I'd be interested to hear. It's an interesting challenge getting them to aid in the charging cycle to their maximum potential and not interfere with the all-in-one's maximum charge settings.
