Frankie Knuckles was best known as the godfather of house, but that only scrapes the surface. Born in the Bronx, he grew up during the early days of disco and was a regular at The Loft and The Gallery
Frankie Knuckles, a modern American legend who tragically passed away in 2014, took us through his 40-year career, from disco in New York to the birth of house in Chicago and on to a lifetime in music in his lecture at RBMA Madrid 2011. This is the story of the house that Frankie built.

Frankie was a good man. I've never heard him be nasty or evil. And, of course, his music was perfect. RIP Frankie. See you on the big dance floor in the heavens.

A decade ago now and filmed 3 years before his passing. Interesting to hear him mention Luther Vandross. A lot if not all of his later work with Eric Kupper definitely has that same seal of quality that productions by people like Vandross and George Benson have. Hugely influential and clearly an incredibly nice guy as well. Love, respect and RIP✌️

Wow! Boggles the mind that the pioneers of HIP Hop and House music respectively came out of the slums of the South Bronx.

"Your Love" with Jamie Principle was an underground hit. but his first record with Virgin records was the whistle song to really blow up.

Only Ron Hardy is worthy enough to take that crown from Knuckles. No bashing on Frankie, i know what he stands for, But Ronnie pushed boundaries WAY further than what Frankie did. So to me Ron Hardy has a little more edge than Frankie Knuckles. The Muzik Box was a stage for testing new "unheard of" material and became sort of a ruff territory in DJ and dance. Not just music, but the new drum machine stuff that was evolving. Ron took it on and took also the risk playing it. He had way more balls than Frankie on music exploration.
