Harry doesn't understand that every attack he makes on his father, his brother, the rest of his family only makes the majority of people dislike HIM, not his targets. And the more he doubles, triples down, the worse he looks to the rest of the world. He is fighting a losing battle and is never going to gain the love and respect he craves because he is proving he isn't worthy of that love and respect. You get what you put out. You EARN love and respect by GIVING love and respect. Demanding it has never worked at any time, ever, in all of human history. As you said Harry admitted to the bullying when he said it was ‘due to cultural differences because she’s an American 🇺🇸’. What?? My cousin has American relatives who we stayed with in New Jersey on my 30th birthday,a few years ago now...more like 20+ years ago and they were lovely. The first time I went to NYC with my mum was 3 years before that and we were lost and a couple my age asked us if we needed directions. I can’t remember now where we were going but rather than just giving us directions they showed us and it was at least 10 blocks away in the opposite direction. They were fascinated that we were British 🇬🇧and they were asking us what places to visit in London etc and then they were telling us cheap places to eat,to go to Broadway for tickets to an off,off Broadway show etc..I have been to LA,San Diego,San Fran,Vegas,Miami etc and everyone I met were all really nice and friendly. So,Harry’s comment that it’s just cos she’s American 🇺🇸,NO,she is just rude and insufferable ! Agghhh it just makes me so angry 😡 that he is trying to excuse her behaviour.

Imagine your dad just buried his beloved father who's supposed to be your beloved grandfather, and all you can think of is harassing them about your grievances because you can't be bothered to stay longer in the country. See, if nothing else, Diana knew the power of the press, & how by leaking stories that cast Charles as the villain & she as the victim, the public felt she was Saint-like. We talk about H&M acting like professional victims, but Diana was the first modern-era professional victim at a time when professional victimhood wasn’t the current go-to as it was back then. Getting back to Camilla. She spent over a decade building this initiative & putting all the puzzle pieces together with academics, social workers, etc. The Royal Calendar is created in advance so that no Royal outshines another on key events. It was Camilla’s day - delivering a keynote address, in the company of advocates from all the Commonwealth Nations - this was to be the story for the media to cover that day. It was important. It could have changed the dialogue regarding how people perceived, responded to & increased their awareness on inter-partner violence. No other Royal was to do *anything* on that day to distract attention (this is how their charities succeed. What did Meghan do on this day? Well, darn if she would let any other Royal eclipse her. She posted photos of a visit to a theatre group (she was given the patronage of theatre arts) from 2 months ago to their Instagram. The media covered the story of Meghan’s visit to the theatre. Few papers covered Camilla & the domestic violence initiative, & if they did, it was on page 4 or a paragraph or just not covered by the press. Meghan knew what she was doing, & did it anyway. And even so, the Palace were perpetually trying to pacify Harry & Meghan. They then threw all their toys out of the pram & left. Harry could ‘save’ his wife/mother, & Meghan got what she wanted all along - international recognition, a global fan club, money & for a while, A-List celebrity friends - everything she ever wanted, riding on the wave that she was the biggest victim of all, & supporting Harry’s victim-perspective also. Charles & William, the Queen who kept asking them to visit letting them know she had cancer & was dying, all tried to help Harry. But they kept planting stories in the press attacking the family. Relentless. I don’t think William & Harry can ever reconcile. There is so much damage done, & now promoting this book making public demands for a private meeting with Charles & William, while publicly attacking them. The irony is ridiculous, but he can’t see it. They can’t trust him to keep discussions in private, private. He’s already said that he had enough material for two books, so he’s saved the rest (a threat to the family), & he & Meghan have signed with Random House for not just this book, but at least 3 or 4. Agree with almost all of this except for Charles was with Camilla quietly (because the Queen disapproved of this relationship) when Diana came onto the scene. She was there as he needed to be married and produce a heir. He was always with Camilla. Not excusing Diana's behaviour, but neither of them were innocent.

Harry will not relent until Meghan turns on him and devastates his entire being. Have witnessed a close family situation very similar and it was so destructive and horrible. No one could help until it blew up into a very expensive legal battle.

This is quite heartbreaking for William. To be pushed to this point is painful enough. But to have it all publicised by the person complaining about privacy. Beyond reproach. This would be more than enough for me to cut off my brother and want to have nothing to do with him.
This fight in the kitchen never happened! It's a false story! William never met Harry alone anywhere in that period of time. The words about Meghan being difficult, abrasive and rude William did say, but that was in the discussions about the bullying complaints. William, Catherine, Harry and Meghan shared a staff of 20 persons, Jason Knauff was their (all 4 of them) press secretary. 12 persons went to Knauff and wanted to leave their jobs. I don't think he's hallucinating. I think he's gaslighting. And that they separated offices happened exactly when the bullying charges was delt with. And I must say, Granny and the RH kept all his bullying and aggressive behaviour a secret and even paid these 12 people a lot of money (Harry didn't pay a thing, then Prince Charles and the late Queen paid everything from personal accounts) Everything is a lie. Another thing that happened in June 2019 was Meghan's Wimbledon scandal that really turned UK over because her behaviour was so incredibly narcissistic and cruel and done in front of 1000s of photographers and live-cameras. And nowhere in "Spare" he mentions this scandal, and really, that was the reason they finally had to move out of UK!

I never bought the story about William pushing him so hard he landed on his back on top of a dog bowl that broke. (Was the bowl made of crackers?) The only person we have seen getting physically abusive is Harry. When William supposedly lost it on that man who was following his family while they were out bike riding, all he did was yell at the guy. He didn't even insult him or swear. He just called him out on his outrageous behavior.

The paranoia....the substance use to self-medicate...the lack of emotional control and violent tendencies (when he starts fights with the press or thinks about off-ing his dad in the car). But I think diana was on her meds....but during her pregnancies the hormones got the best of her and things got a little out of controle. It doesn't have to be mental illness, either; when Pope John Paul II grew old and feeble, people began thinking about what should happen if a leader loses their mental capacity through old age or dementia. Centuries ago, life spans were shorter and perhaps these questions took care of themselves, but that's not true now. It should be discussed and a plan made. Right now I feel that everyone is simply paralyzed by the need to maintain decorum, and they're just hoping that problem will somehow go away without anyone having to make hard decisions.

In putting two and two together, it would seem that the gruesome twosome left royal duty by order rather than by choice. Markle’s history of abusing staff and young members of the family-like Princess Charlotte-likely pushed HMTQ to kick them out of the ranks. That would explain why H & M have been over the top aggressive of the RF so far.
This also ties in with Harry's demand that the Royal Family apologise to Meghan. I suspect that when she went to Canada alone and left Harry to sort things out, she was basically told to leave. As well as the bullying of both staff and Princess Charlotte, she had also been caught taking photos in places she shouldn't have been - some even say in Charlotte's bedroom.
I lost a sister of 28,my dad and my uncle within six months of each other when I was 19. My mum was left with a 10 year old and a. 15 year old. It was the worst year of my life but I pushed on and brought up two children who are my life. I still grieve but have managed to move on. I miss them every day but carry on as normal. My brother was 10 as a daddy's boy but copes with life. Harry is pathetic.

Obviously the family has known that Harry has had issues and Megan was probably their worse nightmare for him. It's sad Harry can't see who really cares about him. I think about the Queen telling Margo that she couldn't marry her first love because he was a divorce, also reminding Anne that she couldn't marry Parker Boles because he was Catholic. I understand the Queen wanted to tell Harry that he couldn't marry Meghan, but still didn't say NO. So many times I wish, wish, wish she had said Meghan was inappropriate.

Harry is mentally ill. He needs professional help. I think he is so envious of William's marriage, title, popularity, the fact that Will looks like Diana and William's intelligence that he is destroying himself. The fact that of all the women in the world he picked Meghan is so telling. Meghan dumped her family and Harry was to follow suit. Meghan fed Harry's insecurity and encouraged Harry to go to war. She believed as long as she could take her prince back to CA she would be revered and rich. Harry will never leave Meghan, she is all he has left.
Harry is an addict and a developmental child and can't see his own behavior. My experience personally and professionally has shown me that maturation isn't a given. Many addicts get high on anger. My guess is that Harry will not give up that drug. It gives him the sense of self righteous power.
For someone who can and will get the best of the best , I truly don't understand how with the amount of therapy H has had, they haven't broke through and started to help him yet 🤷♀️

Exactly. I found the book disjointed because of things like that. It seemed to me to be written in three voices: Harry, Harry as a mouthpiece for Meghan, and Moehringer.
Here is Harry’s dad, who just lost his father having to take critisisn and to be treated with disdain by his son. William just lost his grandfather as well. Harry is a narcissist. It is all about himself. Such a sad little man he is. The best thing you can do with a family member like that is to just let them go. You can spend years going round and round in this cycle with a narcissist and it never gets any better.
I believe harry is bi-polar, manic depressive, he displays every symptom. He's self medicated with drugs, which in turn has brought out underlying paranoia among other things. This will end in tears.
We don’t have a first amendment but we do have the “Human Rights Act” Article 10 Freedom of Expression, which obviously covers many things including freedom of speech.

I agree this is the part that made me most sad. As someone who now has a deep knowledge of this book, how do you respond to the suggestion made by many that a lot of the descriptions have been written by his wife…the over dramatic (aka totally unbelievable) verbose descriptions of the miscarriage and it’s aftermath, the birth room, and so many more, seem so much how she would describe them thinking she would sway others, rather than a man’s perception?
A lot of the material was provided by her, no doubt, but the florid prose and sophomoric philosophizing comes from Moehringer. That passage about death CD just read is similar to certain passages in OPEN, the auto of Agassi that Moehringer ghosted. The pattern is: all of these important moments are connected by X, then follows a pseudo-profound discussion of the meaning of X. X in this case is death but it could be water, food, darkness, whatever common poetic element you can find.

I completely agree, its tragic and I feel for Charles and William particularly. I'm a Brit and we know the RF aren't perfect. I know the tabloids here are vindictive so don't take any notice of them, but I genuinely have no idea what these 'stories' are that the RF supposedly leaked 🤷♀️ I appreciate your views on the book and have enjoyed your reviews, thank you 😊

The palace has spent years protecting Harry, a lot about Harry that appeared in the UK was being published abroad first the British press tried to put a more positive spin on his misdemeanors. Amazing that problems in Williams and Catherines marriage only started after Meghan joined the RF, she hates Catherine and is jealous of her and will do anything possible to hurt her. The Oprah interview was a rubbish piece no questions but the biggest thing was all their lies, Harry has never been in danger, if Harry could not get his half in half out it's because it does not work, Prince Edward and Sophie tried it and got badly burned it took them a decade to earn the public's forgiveness and the total trust they now have. The truth is Harry has always been a spoilt brat, and used to getting his own way. Meghan has brought the worst of Harry into the public eye, she encouraged him to behave badly. Can we be sure that anything he wrote is true, did these conversations ever take place or followed Harry's narrative. He said he was alone at school when The Queen Mother died, and how he was told and had no family support, trouble is there are pictures of him in Switzerland skiing with his father and brother . So once again Harry lies. Love your interpretation of the book, it really illustrates how pathetic Harry is.
Harry seems perpetually toddler-like. He found a mother figure in his wife. So it may be that he will never see the damage she is doing. The sad thing is if she eventually decide that he is no longer useful-he will be destroyed and only his family will mourn and try to help, but will likely be seen as the villains again.

In my opinion Harry and many others don't realise that it is highly likely not Camilla that Diana refers to as the third person in the marriage. Diana falsely accused another woman of having an affair with Charles around the same time she gave the Bashir interview. It throws a whole different light on it all.

To be fair, I don’t think someone who doesn’t do drugs, smoke weed everyday, and drink til their lying in the gutter can ever really be close to a sibling who does. Plus, daily smoking makes one paranoid. How does anyone deal with that?

I found your “Revenge” review and then then listened to your review of Spare. Thank you so much for these 2 reviews. Then I tried to listen to Spare audiobook, got through 5 hours out of 16 and checked it back into library. Spare is too crappy & depressing. Just too far over the top. I love King Charles more and Prince William more. The sock puppet & nutmeg are not worth anymore time. Now I am focusing on positive stuff about the Royal family and just other more worthwhile things.

The lawsuit didn’t have anything to do with William and Charles though. The lawsuit was against the Mail on Sunday for releasing Meghan’s letter to her father that her father gave them. Maybe there were some tangential things related to the palace- like Meghan’s texts to Jason Knauff- but nothing directly related to William or Charles…. In a way, asking about Meghan’s lawsuit was them asking how Meghan is doing.
Just think how different it would be if Harry had looked at and talked about his life from an attitude of gratitude…. Instead from a victimhood perspective,…. As you said Harry admitted to the bullying when he said it was ‘due to cultural differences because she’s an American 🇺🇸’. What?? My cousin has American relatives who we stayed with in New Jersey on my 30th birthday,a few years ago now...more like 20+ years ago and they were lovely. The first time I went to NYC with my mum was 3 years before that and we were lost and a couple my age asked us if we needed directions. I can’t remember now where we were going but rather than just giving us directions they showed us and it was at least 10 blocks away in the opposite direction. They were fascinated that we were British 🇬🇧and they were asking us what places to visit in London etc and then they were telling us cheap places to eat,to go to Broadway for tickets to an off,off Broadway show etc..I have been to LA,San Diego,San Fran,Vegas,Miami etc and everyone I met were all really nice and friendly. So,Harry’s comment that it’s just cos she’s American 🇺🇸,NO,she is just rude and insufferable ! Agghhh it just makes me so angry 😡 that he is trying to excuse her behaviour.

I’m going to give you just one example of Meghan’s thirst to undermine Catherine & all other Royals while a working Royal. Camilla is a passionate advocate for domestic violence victims. She has kept her head down, sustained years of hatred & abuse, but just worked tirelessly. Charles & Diana’s marriage was irrevocably broken when Diana started to have an affair with her married personal protection officer (who had young children), which destroyed that marriage, & created a broken home. She did this also with a famous footballer, destroying that marriage too, leaving another broken home with broken children. I say this not to demonise Diana, but to tell you that Charles didn’t cheat on her until well after he tried to fix things & just couldn’t. He never once demonised or blamed Diana in the press, despite her doing so about him. He was forever making sure the boys had their mother, & refused to fight with her in front of them. She would tell the boys how their father was to blame for everything. See, if nothing else, Diana knew the power of the press, & how by leaking stories that cast Charles as the villain & she as the victim, the public felt she was Saint-like. We talk about H&M acting like professional victims, but Diana was the first modern-era professional victim at a time when professional victimhood wasn’t the current go-to as it was back then.
Getting back to Camilla. She spent over a decade building this initiative & putting all the puzzle pieces together with academics, social workers, etc. The Royal Calendar is created in advance so that no Royal outshines another on key events. It was Camilla’s day - delivering a keynote address, in the company of advocates from all the Commonwealth Nations - this was to be the story for the media to cover that day. It was important. It could have changed the dialogue regarding how people perceived, responded to & increased their awareness on inter-partner violence. No other Royal was to do *anything* on that day to distract attention (this is how their charities succeed.
What did Meghan do on this day? Well, darn if she would let any other Royal eclipse her. She posted photos of a visit to a theatre group (she was given the patronage of theatre arts) from 2 months ago to their Instagram. The media covered the story of Meghan’s visit to the theatre. Few papers covered Camilla & the domestic violence initiative, & if they did, it was on page 4 or a paragraph or just not covered by the press.
Meghan knew what she was doing, & did it anyway.
And even so, the Palace were perpetually trying to pacify Harry & Meghan.
They then threw all their toys out of the pram & left. Harry could ‘save’ his wife/mother, & Meghan got what she wanted all along - international recognition, a global fan club, money & for a while, A-List celebrity friends - everything she ever wanted, riding on the wave that she was the biggest victim of all, & supporting Harry’s victim-perspective also.
Charles & William, the Queen who kept asking them to visit letting them know she had cancer & was dying, all tried to help Harry. But they kept planting stories in the press attacking the family. Relentless.
I don’t think William & Harry can ever reconcile. There is so much damage done, & now promoting this book making public demands for a private meeting with Charles & William, while publicly attacking them. The irony is ridiculous, but he can’t see it. They can’t trust him to keep discussions in private, private. He’s already said that he had enough material for two books, so he’s saved the rest (a threat to the family), & he & Meghan have signed with Random House for not just this book, but at least 3 or 4.

Agree with almost all of this except for Charles was with Camilla quietly (because the Queen disapproved of this relationship) when Diana came onto the scene.

It ended with that both Harry and Meghan were proven guilt of bullying the staff. 12 people signed NDAs and the late Queen paid each of them a lot of money (again the RH covered for H&M).
The "necklace" is a leather strap with 3 blocks of silver. It was given to Harry in 2010 by Chelsy Davy. At a party in 2012 or 13 Harry was in a kitchen. William was with him (he always functioned as a baby-sitter). Harry was drunk as a skunk and fell. I never bought the story about William pushing him so hard he landed on his back on top of a dog bowl that broke. (Was the bowl made of crackers?) The only person we have seen getting physically abusive is Harry. When William supposedly lost it on that man who was following his family while they were out bike riding, all he did was yell at the guy. He didn't even insult him or swear. He just called him out on his outrageous behavior.

The paranoia....the substance use to self-medicate...the lack of emotional control and violent tendencies (when he starts fights with the press or thinks about off-ing his dad in the car). It all screams bipolar to me. Also diana hysterically crying at the airport. Or her need to do non royal things for attention and being paranoid as well. But I think diana was on her meds....but during her pregnancies the hormones got the best of her and things got a little out of controle. It doesn't have to be mental illness, either; when Pope John Paul II grew old and feeble, people began thinking about what should happen if a leader loses their mental capacity through old age or dementia. Centuries ago, life spans were shorter and perhaps these questions took care of themselves, but that's not true now. It should be discussed and a plan made. Right now I feel that everyone is simply paralyzed by the need to maintain decorum, and they're just hoping that problem will somehow go away without anyone having to make hard decisions.

In putting two and two together, it would seem that the gruesome twosome left royal duty by order rather than by choice. Markle’s history of abusing staff and young members of the family-like Princess Charlotte-likely pushed HMTQ to kick them out of the ranks. That would explain why H & M have been over the top aggressive of the RF so far.
This is what I believe also. Their rage and vindictiveness is not commensurate with the situation.
This also ties in with Harry's demand that the Royal Family apologise to Meghan. I suspect that when she went to Canada alone and left Harry to sort things out, she was basically told to leave. As well as the bullying of both staff and Princess Charlotte, she had also been caught taking photos in places she shouldn't have been - some even say in Charlotte's bedroom.

I lost a sister of 28,my dad and my uncle within six months of each other when I was 19. My mum was left with a 10 year old and a. 15 year old. It was the worst year of my life but I pushed on and brought up two children who are my life. I still grieve but have managed to move on. I miss them every day but carry on as normal. My brother was 10 as a daddy's boy but copes with life. Harry is pathetic.

Obviously the family has known that Harry has had issues and Megan was probably their worse nightmare for him. It's sad Harry can't see who really cares about him. Megan has only amplified his feelings of insecurity and limited abilities. She has created a larger divide in his family to control him. She is a handler. But again, he has been willingly trying to destroy his family regardless. She could never do it without him.
I think about the Queen telling Margo that she couldn't marry her first love because he was a divorce, also reminding Anne that she couldn't marry Parker Boles because he was Catholic. I understand the Queen wanted to tell Harry that he couldn't marry Meghan, but still didn't say NO.

The fact that of all the women in the world he picked Meghan is so telling. Meghan dumped her family and Harry was to follow suit. Meghan fed Harry's insecurity and encouraged Harry to go to war. She believed as long as she could take her prince back to CA she would be revered and rich. Harry will never leave Meghan, she is all he has left.
Harry is an addict and a developmental child and can't see his own behavior. My experience personally and professionally has shown me that maturation isn't a given. Many addicts get high on anger. My guess is that Harry will not give up that drug. It gives him the sense of self righteous power.
If Windsor Castle and Tower of London are so despicable to Harry, WHY does he want to be King in such an awful place?

Exactly. I found the book disjointed because of things like that. It seemed to me to be written in three voices: Harry, Harry as a mouthpiece for Meghan, and Moehringer.
Here is Harry’s dad, who just lost his father having to take critisisn and to be treated with disdain by his son. William just lost his grandfather as well. Harry is a narcissist. It is all about himself. Such a sad little man he is. The best thing you can do with a family member like that is to just let them go. You can spend years going round and round in this cycle with a narcissist and it never gets any better.

I believe harry is bi-polar, manic depressive, he displays every symptom. He's self medicated with drugs, which in turn has brought out underlying paranoia among other things. This will end in tears.

I agree this is the part that made me most sad. As someone who now has a deep knowledge of this book, how do you respond to the suggestion made by many that a lot of the descriptions have been written by his wife…the over dramatic (aka totally unbelievable) verbose descriptions of the miscarriage and it’s aftermath, the birth room, and so many more, seem so much how she would describe them thinking she would sway others, rather than a man’s perception?
Her claws are all over the book, it's full of Meganese 🙄
A lot of the material was provided by her, no doubt, but the florid prose and sophomoric philosophizing comes from Moehringer.
That passage about death CD just read is similar to certain passages in OPEN, the auto of Agassi that Moehringer ghosted.
The pattern is: all of these important moments are connected by X, then follows a pseudo-profound discussion of the meaning of X. X in this case is death but it could be water, food, darkness, whatever common poetic element you can find.

Amazing that problems in Williams and Catherines marriage only started after Meghan joined the RF, she hates Catherine and is jealous of her and will do anything possible to hurt her. The rumours that Meghan bullied Charlotte, jealous of a little girl, pathetic.

The Oprah interview was a rubbish piece no questions but the biggest thing was all their lies, Harry has never been in danger, if Harry could not get his half in half out it's because it does not work, Prince Edward and Sophie tried it and got badly burned it took them a decade to earn the public's forgiveness and the total trust they now have.
The truth is Harry has always been a spoilt brat, and used to getting his own way. Meghan has brought the worst of Harry into the public eye, she encouraged him to behave badly.

Harry seems perpetually toddler-like. He found a mother figure in his wife. So it may be that he will never see the damage she is doing. The sad thing is if she eventually decide that he is no longer useful-he will be destroyed and only his family will mourn and try to help, but will likely be seen as the villains again.
“….if not outright collaborated with them.” That’s a confession that he doesn’t really know for sure. I guess Harry feels suspicion is enough for him to treat his family like garbage.

In my opinion Harry and many others don't realise that it is highly likely not Camilla that Diana refers to as the third person in the marriage. Diana falsely accused another woman of having an affair with Charles around the same time she gave the Bashir interview. It throws a whole different light on it all.

To be fair, I don’t think someone who doesn’t do drugs, smoke weed everyday, and drink til their lying in the gutter can ever really be close to a sibling who does. Plus, daily smoking makes one paranoid. How does anyone deal with that?

I was born with a disability and it’s the same you can just bury yourself in it or get over it and use it to push you forward, hey life is hard but everyone is coping with something I refuse to keep feeling sorry for Harry get a grip man your way past childhood. A mother, say white mother, only dreams of a future for their child. The native s in Canada live in a past of victimhood. They cannot move forward as they rely on the past. This rings true to everyone. I mean most of us come from dysfunction. Some more severe than others. It's the ones that push forward, wanting a better life for the next generation, that succeede the others thrice on victimhood narrative and that's why there is generational abuse and oppression

I found your “Revenge” review and then then listened to your review of Spare. Thank you so much for these 2 reviews.
Then I tried to listen to Spare audiobook, got through 5 hours out of 16 and checked it back into library. Spare is too crappy & depressing. Just too far over the top. I love King Charles more and Prince William more. The sock puppet & nutmeg are not worth anymore time. Now I am focusing on positive stuff about the Royal family and just other more worthwhile things.

The lawsuit didn’t have anything to do with William and Charles though. The lawsuit was against the Mail on Sunday for releasing Meghan’s letter to her father that her father gave them. Maybe there were some tangential things related to the palace- like Meghan’s texts to Jason Knauff- but nothing directly related to William or Charles…. In a way, asking about Meghan’s lawsuit was them asking how Meghan is doing.
Just think how different it would be if Harry had looked at and talked about his life from an attitude of gratitude…. Instead from a victimhood perspective,….
He could have been such an inspiration to people as on overcomer and motivator….. But MM happened…. And as a self-centered spoiled GIRL, she found a perfect jumping off point in Harry….

Actually, I’ve known a number of 12 year olds who were more mature, grounded, empathetic and self motivated ( with far fewer advantages in life) than Harry ever was or will be.
