00:00 Did you know that in Factorio, you should go bigger?
00:03 Beginners tend to build a very small bases, which is wrong.
00:06 You should build as big as you can, because you will need more of everything later.
00:11 Whenever you build something important like green circuits manufactory.
00:14 Remember to leave enough space for later expansion.
00:18 In the beginning you use them only to craft basic machines in your mall.
00:22 However, later you need to use them to craft tons of red and blue circuits.
00:26 If you don’t leave enough space at the start, you will regret later.
00:30 Space in Factorio is endless, so you don’t need to worry about running out of it.
00:34 And if you need more land, just talk about it with the bite…
This is a short Factorio tutorial or guide. You can find some useful tips for your Factorio speedrun and death world game. Advance topics like trains blueprints circuit network will be explained in a few seconds. I hope this series will work great as a trailer and review for Factorio. I will also try to keep it funny in a meme way.
#Factorio - Hry
A wise man told me these words before: "When you're building something in your factorio base, always leave 3x the space you think you will need, because you will need it."
wise words!
only 3x?
3x, then 2x more.
@@Taker02 exponential growth, more like
Factorio bases are like a gas in a vacuum, they will expand to fill all the available space
If I need more of a thing I can always spaghetti it in somewhere. Space has a way of magically appearing when I reroute a belt or two to go through the middle of some unrelated production.
True. One should look at it like a puzzle: If there are still empty spaces somewhere, or there is more than one arrangement of belts, inserters and power poles which works, you have not yet reached optimal spaghettification.
yes. i agree
AMEN
I think one of the big reasons a lot of newer players build so small and are so afraid of expansion is because they don't know how to properly "negotiate land transactions" with the neighbors yet.
tbh i just think more compact designs are more visually pleasing
@@TheSLOCAT Aesthetics don't cover the cost of expansion 💀
I get a headache everything I try to plan things out lmao.
Like you can hear, I'm sick.
Sorry for this inconvenience.
It’s fine, Trupen. Hope you recover soon!
don't even notice
You're making videos. No inconvenience.
tiny little virus negotiates colony expansion with the host
Your french is getting better !
factorio always ends with unintended diplomacy :)
Being a fan of Trupen is like restarting because it will take less time to start over than to fix your mess
😂
Wait, you mean you don't just throw out everything you do that has a mistake in it? (Sorry my first 6 children..)
The fact that every time you swear it's in a different language from the last gives me life
I always build a primitive base and a starter base that I pretty much discard at a certain tech level, I leave the ruins around in case I need to jump start my civilization. As soon as I get cars I start building outposts on the boundaries of what I deem my territory, and then I connect that with walls and build inside it. I always separate my processes so that rebuilding is easy after massive attacks and there isn't so much complexity to recreate locally. I prioritize building huge circuit production facilities, and then everything else is secondary. Every ore base is its own refinery and after a while everything is electric, connected by wires and trains.
If you need more space you can always nuke your base
+1
it works, until you need to use it
Your english pronounciation is really good in this one. Love your videos
yeah i was thinking the same thing !
My base is always tile-able, just C&P the entire base!
doesn't that get boring every playthrough?
@@samusaran13372 I think you miss the joke
@@BlackTempleGaurdian a lot of people use the same blueprints every playthrough and just copy/paste, didnt know if u were one of them.
My first base was so small. "Oh I'll need a lot of circuits, I'll put down **10** assemblers." My second was much larger (yet still too small for my later needs).
Maybe aim for 10 blue belts? 😁
I've binge watched all Trupen's videos since finding him and I can't stop laughing
:D
@@Trupen 👹👹
its good to know WHAT you're leaving that space for. there are a few techniques that are especially good that you may want to consider using later which you will need to leave space for:
1. splitting new belts into old belts, to re-saturate the older belt. this can help you extend existing production lines, making them much larger, larger than 1 belt on its own may be capable of supporting. doing things like this is also usually what you have multiple lanes of the same product in a main bus for.
2. crossing other belts through a given area of production. this can be a lifesaver, and in principle you should always design your bases and blueprints with being able to cross over them as freely as possible in mind, but this is also one of the most difficult skills to learn in the game. particularly because its always better to do it in a specially tailored way, specifically for your current base.
3. makes it easier to route things into and out of the production. you have more space for belts, more space for routing belts, and more space to move things around in.
however, there are also some very good arguments to use _less_ space:
1. using less space means using less resources, almost always. using less resources means you have more resources being dedicated toward more production. more science, more power, more construction.
2. using less space now gives you more space to work with in the future, you'll have a much more freely open area that is closer to your centralized base to essentially restart with, to make something much more efficient and planned without needing to step on the toes of your already-existing base.
3. its just kind of a nice boon to sanity, sometimes. its satisfying to know that you have been efficient, used all the space you can, and also gives you something to be able to look at and identify where problems may be that you can do better on next time by using your time more wisely and effectively in order to plan out something better on the fly. learning how to trace belts and keep a mental map of what everything does and where everything goes is also a very difficult skill to master.
4. deathworlds. if you play on a deathworld, space is definitely at a premium for *a while.*
5. people often think very big in Factorio. you do not necessarily *have* to. just having 0.5/s production of each science pack can really take you a long way, all the way to winning the game quite easily. try it sometime, you'd be surprised how far you can get by trying to use fewer resources more efficiently from the start of a game. it can get you to some very interesting places, and you might even end up learning how to play faster than you have before.
Now i can have even more diagonal busses
You sound sick Trupen, get well soon if you are :d
thanks
lol trupen it's been like 6 months since ive played factorio but i keep watching your videos - love it
Thing that completely changed how I play factorio was city blocks. Even if I don't use them, I still use the principle of 'leave atleast half a football stadium between production spots'. It is annoying at start when I don't have alot of belts, but once production hubs are up and there is a steel chest full of them, well, why not go overkill
Okay Trupen,
is this some sort of advent calendar thing now? Because you´re production rate is of the roof right now. I like it though. I like how you appeared in Martins Video with no mention at all.
I'VE WATCHED EVERY SINGLE EPISODE WAITING FOR MY LANGUAGE TO SHOW UP! СПАСИБО ТРУПЭН! MERDE!
The main problem of infinite maps is "Not enough space"
You can go as big as you want, Factorio is endless, but your PC is not.
I'm expecting the endings by now, and they still get me! Hahaha
Main bus design until you get the last non white science bot speed then city blocks fr
The bugs are usually nice enough to give some land if you ask hard enough
Im currently doing my first play through. I played satisfactory so I had this idea firmly in my head while playing. I left myself a ton of space but still ended up cramped because I didn't know what items would need to expanded like 20x vs 3x. So my starter base ended up looking like beginner spaghetti dispite trying to leave space for myself.
I just recently actually started satisfactory (ie, made it past tier 3 and kept going) and im almost having the opposite, where i have too much space for my main base. starter base was just a little too big for what i built, but my main base may as well be the beginning of a mega base lol
Don't worry, if things get too out of hand, you can always use the old base to produce the material to build your real base (or starter base 2.0, which can later be used to provide material for your real real base, or starter base 3.0, which can be used to provide material... you get the gist)
@@raizors1331 baseception, basically
Got space but don't have resources, get more resources. Got more resources then you know what to do with, expand. Have space and nothing to build on it make a fun project like a massive self designed powerplant or a train hub that can fit an entire base and move to a new place, go north, south east or west and see the world.
The Factory will expand to meet the needs of the expanding Factory
I cant describe how mutch Im loving this daily short videos
You should build compact and shoddy. Solve the problem you have right now, not the problems you think you will have later.
Never deconstruct, always expand. You need gears but can’t seem to spaghetti a belt from the gears belt? Build a new gears factory. You need it. You always need more base products when you build higher tier items.
Love your videos man.
The main thing stopping me from "There is no spoon" is always miscalculating how much space I need :(
Trupen, I love these videos! you should use dutch for the next swear! something like godverdomme
Instructions unclear: left space for mass produce weaponry, character still get killed by biters.
You sound sick - hope you get better soon!
I like building big chunks of my factory farther out, generally near resources, and ship in a lot of intermediate materials with trains. Moving a whole smelter and green circuit setup when a 5M+ ore patch runs out isn't a big deal, if you have construction bots and blueprints. The main base is much simpler and less crowded when you're bringing in trains of circuits, plates, and refinery products, instead of ore. A row of parallel trains stations which are all the same size is much simpler than a mess of different facilities.
Smaller is easier to defend when new, so I'd recommend small for a first playthroug
YES!!
SPACE exploration!!!!!
the french "merde" at the end was perfect, noice
this is why I changed my design to a modular small city block design. If I need more of something I just add a module to create more. and the modules connect with a fake bus (not a real bus as modules mostly direcly communicate)
Space is limited by the enemy, though. Making a bigger base requires more ressources to protect it. So it depens on your game settings.
I prefer to just spaghetti my way to more space!
Come for Factorio tips, stay for the Slavic dirty word of the day.
Trupen Is on and italian rampage lately
The map ends, you do not have endless space
Double the size of your base and you just quadrupled the defenses you need
More defenses equal more production you need, which means larger base, which means more defense, which means more defense. IT DOESN'T END.
@@firstkraken The Factory must grow!
actually that's backwards. base size is based on area, which is two dimensional (like a square), while defenses are only needed on the perimeter, which is one dimensional (like a line). so if you quadruple your base, you'll need to double your defenses.
This is plan wrong though lol. Base size increases by square factor while perimeter increases linearly. A base that is 4 times as large (sides twice as long) will only have twice as much perimeter. Idk why this is so liked
@@toricon8070 While yes it is wrong, you still need to protect ALL of your base. what if the biters break through? What about the increase of biter attacks? There are other factors affecting the amount of defence needed.
The Devil : "you will need to think ahead 60 hours to avoid the hearthbreak of destroying your factory"
G o d : "City Blocks"
did you say a sware in french at the end ?
I am curious
being an italian,i enjoyed the MERD* at the end xD
To a novice player, rail world means you have to build a rail network to travel from one base to another.
To a veteran player, rail world means there is more room for factories between each resource patch.
Just turn biters off, that will give you the infinite map.
Just expand to more space to fill in your unfillable space
how to design my base is the hardest thing i have with this game.
Was waiting for french and debating on which word it would be xD
Wish he had told me this sooner but it’s too late now and now I struggle😢
Hi Trupen! Do you have any advice for the Pyanodons mods?
I have one tip for Pyanodons mods
uninstall them :)
My first base ever was immediately very scalable, but when the belts themselves became the bottleneck I was f*cked.
But i dont want to walk so far and god forbid driving a car through the factory
lol youtube 30 ns7 second video shouldnt give me an unskippable 30 second ad
that was
the most beautiful merde
I ever herde
I only need one box then launch a rocket
you ever played 'they are billions' ?
Did you know, that you could upload these small videos as shorts? :D I´d watch them nonetheless
how about i make my base just literal spaghetti? sure, it'll look horrendous. However "if it looks stupid, but it works, then it's not stupid".
E esse "merd" aí no final, seria ele uma brazilian reference? Sou brasileiro e assisto a muitos vídeos seus, você é muito bom nisso.
When are you doing your 100% speedrum video now that you are pass 100k subscribers?
probably in January
But if i make compact base, i can build same base twice for double profit
Why don't you turn this videos into shorts?? This is perfect for it!! (Unless the video format)
Merde ! Haha bravo
did u say "merda" in the end?
where are u from?
Oh look, swearing in a language I recognize
ahh finally, "merde" as shown up :)
Ah yes, now it's french.
I wanna learn several language just so I can swear in them.
tabarnak!
« Merde » ? 🟦⬜🟥
I reject this philosophy. In my factory each science pack has it's own dedicated subassembly and some have their own dedicated smelter array

yes
This one (ending) I know, this is italian
I have one question, do you have a cold?
yes
@@Trupen I knew it, your voice is diffrent
I see the French finally got to you.
0:30 Technically not.
it's close enough for a 30 seconds video
@@Trupen :P
Gonk :]
Do you talk Italian?
Nah... build small, expand production, realize your production is too slow, expand some more, nuke the previous production section, repeat 😂.
Are you sick? Your voice sounds different and scratchy in this video.
If you are getting sick, Get well soon.
In Russian language video get name"Вам нужно больше места"
Wait.
Did you try to say "merde" in french ?
That's illegal !
damn didn't expect Spanish Trupen at the end
I think it was French, but yes, I did enjoy that as well
it's french, he said "shit"
he said merde not mierda
@@Darktotaled my bad, they sound similar
Your voice changed today. What happened?
I'm sick
Merdddhhahahahahah
okay ... Trupen ... this is getting out of hand ... in how many languages can you actually say "shit" ?
Nah nah nah. The goal should be completely making such nonsensical spaghetti that you forgot how things work or what they do but youre afraid to touch anything because it might break some unrelated production line on the other side of the base.
no i don't
yes you do

I'm claustrophobic, and this video offends me.
good :)
Are you just cursing in every language at the end of every video?
Merde!
