How long has this sport been around? I didn't know it even existed until a couple of months ago. It looks like it would be very fun and not really much dangerous..

It is dangerous. If you dont get trained. These kites can be powerful and drag you into bushes trees and rocks. It is fun but dangerous things usually are. You have to learn how to fly these kites before you try and get on the board.

I live in Western Australia. Safety Bay is not even in the top 5 spots here. Cornation, Shark Bay, Coral Bay, Wedge Island and even Woodies all have consistently stronger wind and more flat water.

padraic mellett I just moved from Western Australia to the US and have sailed and kitesurfed through the pacific. I agree with you on the consistent winds and wide variety of awesome uncrowded locations. I used to live in Carnarvon and found the consistent winds and warm flat water there awesome. Drive a little north and some fantastic wave surfing locations and scenic downwinders. I miss WA and the kitesurfing heaven it is!
