Hallstatt is Austria’s quintessential fairytale town and it absolutely cannot be left off an Austrian travel itinerary. The best thing about this town is that there really isn’t much to do here! The picturesque town, is it’s own attraction. It’s good because it forces you to slow down and take in the surrounding beauty.

Pavithra Janarsan hi...very subjective though but personally I ll skip staying overnight there.. but I can imagine it can be extremely beautiful and also less tourists during early hours...so if you want to experience this place outside touristic hours then you may plan to stay there...

Hi, we travelled during May month, it will be quite green during summer, from May to August and after that during winter, from Nov-Feb, it will be all white and cold....if you plan to go in summer, you can enjoy it better with long day light time..

there are both the options..you can take wither bus around 2.30 hours ride..or a train..
Is this worth it to visit hallstatt from Vienna by bus or we should take train? They (bus traveller) give only 2hrs for village tour. Is 2hours sufficient to visit whole village including boat ride? How much charge for boat ride?
Hi..2 hrs are not sufficient for sure.so better to go by train and give good time ..boat ride which we did was for 10 euro pp..

Hi..I didn’t drive from Salzburg but yes many people do that. You can apply for international driving license at your local RTO office in India but I assume you are already in Austria then it will be tricky. I need to find out how to do that

Me, wife and 17 yr old son. Dates 2 nd week of June. Thinking of flying from delhi to salzburg(5 nights) then heading to hallstatt for 3 nights and then going to vienna for 4-5 nights. Do u feel this seems like a reasonable itenary Or should I land in vienna, stay there and then head to salburg, hallstatt and fly back from there to delhi. Budget would be 20-22 k per night
