First and foremost excellent job . Secondly this videos emphasizes that Rancid literally have a role reversal between guitar and bass . The guitarist will hold down 2 or 3 chord groove whilst Matt Freeman plays these lead rhythms up and down the neck . It's one of the attributes that's made them special ever since the early 90s .
Matt's playing is rooted in jazz, theres was coming from being self taught- it meshed so well. Truth what u said.

Sounds cool and you did a good job. But Matt is one of the main reasons rancid has stood out. His bass style is so uncommon in punk.
I wouldn't say it's that uncommon. He basically does what most Ska bassists do, it's just that Rancid typically have a more punk sound for him to do that over.
Not to take away from Matt though, he's definitely one of the best.
I don't really get this. Why is playing the bass on the guitar supposed to be interesting? I already know what these parts sound like.

OK!!!..... The only positive and remotely play-it-forward-music's-gonna-be-interesting-again-SOON related to quarantine......I'm threading for miles(years) at a time thru anything that doesn't turn my stomach in the first twenty-six(?) seconds, I'm a hardcore hard rock drummer who learned thru school in the late 70's, and was gonna conquer the world starting in 1984(Van Halen!) So, I'm like 53 now...... and ....... yeah...... an old fat guy with lackluster tales of my "life in music". 'Nuff Said.

I only wish i was open enough to listen outside my "world" of hard rock/metal back when it would have had some bearing on what I was doing when it was all happening.
