  • A class in Silver Kings main race. It was super fun this year since it wasnt crazy wet/slick. Good beat down in the rivers and able to catch the breath a bit in the hard steep single track.
    Some info on my tire setup for the race:
    It didnt rain this year at Silver Mountain so it wasnt just a pure slick show out there like the previous year. The dirt conditions were perfect with a moist dirt, the creek beds and some of the roots and climbs did have some slick sections in them though. I went with the best gummy I've ridden which is the Mitas EF07 double green in the huge 140/80 size. I had a pretty worn in Michelin M22 120/80-19 in it with a 4" chunk removed from it so it was undersized and semi soft. This is what I've been training in the slick with and it's been good. But after the prologue race where there were one or two slick roots I decided I wanted the bib softer so I used the TBC bib bit and drilled 1" holes horizontally every 4" on center or so. The holes gave the bib more flex so more grip. On the main race day I was getting excellent traction, on some of the insanely steep downhills I was really surprised that the tire was like tracking down the hill and slowing me down rather than just sliding down the hill out of control, that was a really good feeling. I made it up the slick grassy hill bottleneck with good traction and the large size tire helped in side hilling across it better so I was able to make a pass on a lot of people there which left me with basically no bottlenecks (other than 1 or 2 people) the rest of the race. The big 140 tire size was gripping in the slick creeks and helping me pick up momentum to get through them. There were a couple super slick sections that I had to push or lift the bike up but I feel like for the most part I was getting great traction and pushing through the race at a good pace because of it.

    That was my first dirt bike race ever. So humbling. I have a whole new respect for guys riding at your level. I only made 2 checkpoints, but I’m hooked. So important to push early and get ahead of bottle necks. Can’t wait for the Donner.

    Most pro moto and supercross factory teams are bypassing the mechanical water pumps on bikes and using a Toyota Prius electric water pump believe it or not. Less drag on the motor plus it maintains a constant flow.

      Oh yeah I think I saw a clip about that during a bike check on one of the MX channels. Kooky.

      @@TrailBoundco. Sweet placing order.

  • @lostinpa-dadenduro7555

    Has anyone ever wired in two rad fans? Like spliced in another fan on the other radiator? Maybe it could be a benefit in icky slow single track. Possibly with a switch so you could kill that fan if needed. Just thinking out loud.

      James Flynn runs two computer fans I've never tried it

      @@TrailBoundco. That’s an interesting idea. I was thinking if you had two fans, each with a temp probe, you could set one to come on at normal range, and the second to kick on when it’s really hot. Then when the temp cools the secondary fan would cut out first, and then the normal fan would cut when fully cool. 🤔 I might have to do a project.
      My EC300 doesn’t get too hot, but I got an EX250F this spring and that little guy gets scorching back in the single track.

    Is this A line? Pros?

    • @TrailBoundco
      @TrailBoundco  Před rokem +1

      no this is one step easier than the pro line. the pros come in and out of our line so bascially they have a few splits that are harder that they have to hit and we just skip them. theres also a whole other day for the B/C class on an easier course

      its because I cut out a bunch of it with the gopro angle being all out of whack in the first part of the race. so there was some good struggling up that steep hill before she started steaming
