Vincent Thanks for watching 👍 50 years that means you saw NHRA at its best & possibly at its lowest in recent years.....hope someday it can get back to the level of its heyday 🙏
Great footage frank 4434. Always liked the drags at Vegas even though its a long way away. Always surprises me how quick they run despite the elevation. Desert air and cooler in october.
Thanks Rob, really appreciate you feeling the video, keep watching for Pomona 2021 I will shoot some mph for 1 round to get another perspective of the power these cars produce. 👍🙏
When I say I have been a fan for 50 years I saw Raymond Beadle, race Jungle Jim with Jungle Pam in her Dailey Dukes.for a 13 year old that was a sight!US 30 drag strip on any Wednesday night Funny car shoot outs then back out for weekend racing that and Foghat I believe was the reason I never went to. College
It’s a full 1/4 mile facility but in NHRA National event competition the 2 Nitro classes run 1,000 ft which is 320ft less than the 1/4mile. NHRA adopted this new format for only the 2 Nitro classes after the tragic loss of Scott Kalitta in Englishtown NJ, citing the need for more shutdown room among other safety related reasons. RIP Scott Kalitta.
Hey Frank, another innovation was also developed and eventually mandated, as a result of Scott’s accident....burst panel trip wires (also on Funny Car bodies). In the event of an engine explosion, it automatically kills the mags, closes the fuel shut-off valve, and deploys the chutes...this came courtesy of the Worsham family.
@@thevmanvj I forgot about that, Thanks for bringing that up, I witness it in Vegas during qualifying BUT I didn’t know it was innovated by the Worsham’s.Great Stuff man 👍👍👍
Why is the nhra modifying the ladder? Shouldn't it go #1-#2 first round bye. Then #1 against winner of 3-14 & #2 against winner of 4-13? Number 1 & 2 should both get 1st round win & points automatically. Who the fuck made this decision? Sounds like Grant is back doing it. He just loved controversy! 🫤
They just get sweeter each time I watch them..Thanks Frank..
