Whoever decided to make an electroswing duet between Lucifer and Alastor where they’re constantly trying to one-up each other deserves a raise of at least 3 million dollars.
Everything you can do I can do better. i can do anything better than you
He should've a raise of at least fifty thous-
Hahahahah
@@dmcryan9105then he gets a soft core corn of the mc of the show
Al was honestly made for duets, this man's pettiness is too funny to go to waste
I just love how Alastor clearly couldn't care less about being a father figure to Charlie and just wants to mess with her father, who's the KING OF HELL. The man just doesn't care
He’s got balls of steel to taunt the devil himself that’s for sure
Lucifer had the audacity to not acknowledge him
In alestors eyes that’s truly the worst insult
He knows Charlie would not like that at all so that's why he is eating it.
Well it's already been hinted at that Alastor is working for Lilith, as she's the only one left in hell that's way stronger than him. So maybe getting Charlie to trust him is part of the plan.
@@andrewmichael9201 Alastor is a great character, but c'mon. Even if he saw that as an insult, what could he possibly do to Lucifer? The most he could do is annoy him...which he has already done.
Looking at when Charlie smiles throughout the song, it's clear that while she's impressed by some of her dad's abilities, she's uncomfortable with him trying to be close again so quickly. Meanwhile, a lot of her smiling is genuine with Alastor, which is even sadder because he doesn't mean what he's saying for the most part.
Thanks to her whenever people are so clueless and naive I call it the Charlie Morningstar effect I did this test on my gf. And she past when she didn't see this show or hear about the characters she guess of the bat
It's not hard to see why, either. Look at what her dad's doing - the reviews on yelp are all puppets of himself. When she says "thanks dad" again more puppets of him come in and talk over her, like he doesn't really care what she's saying except to the extent that it's what he wants to hear. In the line "who needs the busboy now that you've got the chef" he's not even looking at her, he's looking at Alastor. The first meal he serves up? Alastor. The cake he gives her? Himself holding Alastor's head. The champagne fountains are his head. The slot machine tiles are his face. He starts with "there's no substitute for pure angelic power" and then mentions being her blood basically as an afterthought. Again and again it's made clear that his involvement here is about pride and ego - it's not about Charlie, about how she feels or what she needs or what she wants, it's all about him and Alastor challenging his ego. She's set dressing to him in this song. She doesn't really open up to him until "More than Anything" where he actually makes a genuine connection with her.
Also worth noting that obviously Alastor is no less manipulative, he's just better at it. He says "you could almost call me dad" which is very clearly directed at Lucifer, but Charlie doesn't see that because she has her back to him unlike Lucifer who just did it in front of her face. When he says "the family you choose is better" it's not her actual chosen family behind him, it's crayon drawings. They're tools to prop up his narrative but he doesn't actually care about them as people. Lucifer and Alastor are both being manipulative - Lucifer because he has an ego and because he doesn't really know how to genuinely meet Charlie on an emotional level so he's leaning on flashy displays of power that have nothing behind them, and Alastor for mysterious reasons we don't fully understand yet. For my money, that's the conflict of season 2. Alastor trying to manipulate Charlie into serving his interests by using the hotel and her friends as emotional pawns, and her dad trying to make a genuine connection but failing because he still just kinda sucks as a person and he's vulnerable to overcompensating when he's challenged - and doesn't quite see how that only drives her away.
@hannarchy6554 the worst part is alot of Alistors points are based on facts. Lucifers are what he says he will do but Alistor is using actions speak louder than words to weaponise against him.
@@hannarchy6554
A truly wonderful analysis!

A lot of people are thinking Alastor really sees Charlie as a daughter but actually don't realize that he was trying to piss Lucifer off. It's HILARIOUS.
The deliberate head turn and eye contact as he said it had me cackling. It's so funny that he immediately HATES Lucifer as soon as he stepped in the door. I'm assuming from fan theories it has something to do with Lilith but whatever the case is- that line delivery was personal😂
He really should learn his place considering Lucifer could vaporize him
Given that Lucifer being dismissive of him seemed to genuinely push his buttons, I wouldn’t be surprised if Al actually did see himself as a parental figure in Charlie’s life, just out of spite.
That thing where you start off doing something just to be contrary, then dig in your heels because you’re stubborn, and eventually it becomes sincere because you’re in for a penny, in for a pound.
(Also, tbf - all of the sinners in Hell do seem to have “Pride” as a motif in their motivations and attitudes)
He looked annoyed from the very start of the song. I think they're both just jealous of each other. I don't think he really sees Charlie as a daughter, but he may care for her and is genuinely jealous of Lucifer
wish he did tho, that would’ve been so sweet

You can tell because when he gets Nifty out of the toilet weird choice but you can tell he’s tryna get her trust because he’s tryna get a good reaction out of Charlie meanwhile it’s different with Lucifer when he hugs Charlie, Alastor is looking for a reaction out of luci which at all points he does when both Charlie and Lucifer are on screen I love the detail
I do definetly feel like this is setting up preparations for whatever alastors arc is gonna be too though. I'm gonna actually go on the limb and say Alastor was legitimately jealous.
Not because he views Charlie as a daughter, but because he has pride in his work, and the entire hotel has basically become "his." So Charlie(who's the heart of the whole thing) getting help from the 1 person Alastor truly has no power over is like he's getting cut out of the 1 thing he's genuinely putting effort into(which is supported by him kicking out probably the closest individual he had as a friend, purely because they weren't taking Charlie's dream seriously, and were bringing harm to the hotel).
I completely agree
Oh, there's so much. All of this yes, I also think he deeply fears powerlessness and being dismissed. Lucifer replacing him would certainly sting. I think it's interesting that once he reinforces his value, (by defending the hotel and kicking out Mimzy), he suddenly doesn't give af about Lucifer anymore. OH and we know he's being controlled by someone which he's also extremely insecure and terrified about. I wonder if he's not at the hotel out of his free will, but rather his owner WANTS him to be there for some reason. **cough** Lilith **cough** If Lucifer had successfully replaced him, who knows what repercussions he could have faced for his failure?
That could be the case. This ring of Hell is Pride, after all. The overlords are perfect examples.
@@BuckerydogSchmuckeryDog Lilith 100% has his soul, not even Alastor would go this far JUST for entertainment. Lilith most likely gave him all this power just so he could ensure Charlie's plans succeed, also so he can snuff out any overlords who would get in her way. Alastor doesn't strike me as power hungry, so I bet everything he has done has been under Lilith's watch.

The funniest thing about this whole interaction is that it perfectly highlight Alastor’s biggest weakness: his pathological need to be the most important person in the room. He was gone for 7 years, none of the other overlords cared where he went or what he was doing. Demons weaker than him annoying him and disrespecting him? Their screams of agony are broadcast all across Hell. The King of Hell shows us? Well, Alastor simply can’t compete in terms of power, but Lucifer does NOT like the idea of anyone else filling the father figure role of Charlie’s life. So, Alastor tries his hand at taking that spot.
🙌🙌🙌
Every winner is someone else’s loser. Alastor assumed he could slip back into the city and immediately cause waves like he did in his heyday, but he’s not the only person who got stronger in his 7 year absence, and there were always more powerful forces (like Lucifer) who could crush him like a bug. Vox and Vaggie appear to be the only people who even cared about his return, Vaggie because she’s obsessed with keeping Charlie safe and Vox because he’s still mad that Alastor refused his offer and then didn’t die for it.
@@Initiallyleo We didn't see the whole effect os his return yet... and well, as Alastor obviouslly don't try to control all Hell or something like that, his return is more like... his rival's problem, so everybody else don't need to drop a sweat. My thoughts as well (and Nifty probably never said anything because she's Nifty).
Yup- like literal happiness

At "who?" I died🤣🤣🤣
I love it how they decided to portray Lucifer as quirky but loving dad.
With Alastor's own backstory from when he was alive, i feel like this was about more than just him trying to piss off Lucifer for shits and giggles. Him and his mother were abandoned by his father, so that "sadly, there are times when a birth parent is a dud" line feels more personal. He WANTS Lucifer to feel bad about being an absent dead beat. Tbh i love our radio demon more for it
He definitely just was trying to piss him off, his smug expressions at Lucifer when he is saying the dad lines makes it even more clear haha
It's hard to put the blame onto lucifer. I won't spoil, but that brother had it tough.
I nearly forgot about that. That makes sense. Not just a lilith thing, but him basically giving a long backhanded lecture to Luci, because you notice, he doesn’t fight him as much at the end of the episode, when they reconcile & speak their minds. They being Charlie and Luci
i would love that idea and was thinking something similar but where did you get the abandoned by his father information? I never knew that was a thing and I don't think its on his wiki
@user-eb6zt4wx3k Last I checked, it is actually on his wiki.

I also just start randomly laughing when mimzy comes in
I honestly love Lucifers character
can we all acknowledge that Alastor just got away with challenging Lucifer to a sing off, matched him at every blow, got under his skin, mocked him TO HIS FACE in front of his daughter.
and he lived (in a sense) to tell the tale?
Gotta give credit to lucifer too, alastor is always compose and in control in any situation yet lucifer easily gets under alastors nerves
The fact lucifer manage to make alastor curse at him out of anger was incredible
I'm guessing he didn't wanna cause a seen in front of his daughter
@@Haphu15 I think he cursed due to his ego being hurt, but he wouldn't dare to smack the shit out of the Lucifer in front of Charlie, as he probably would do with any other random demon, who dared to mock him. But truly I haven't seen it coming, the fact that Alastor actually cursed was so unexpected. Does he even uses this word anywhere else? I don't recall, cuz even when Husk stood up to him and dared to get under his skin, even then Alastor didn't curse, despite being dead serious in his threats
@@BeastRedAshIf Alastor tried to physically hurt Lucifer, he’d be snapped like a twig in under 2 seconds.
@@BeastRedAsh You’re being biased. Alastor has no chance against Lucifer.
I love Lucifer, his characterisation is incredible, I'm glad he was portrayed as a dad who's trying his best instead of a poweful angry ruler
It's not surprising considering both Charlie and what most of the Sins are like. Of the ones we've seen Mammon is the only real "evil" one.

I think this lucifer Is More of a burnt out villain, he already had His prime And Is now mostly goofing around
Mimsey interrupting and everyone’s confusion is hilarious.
This is just so maddeningly brilliantly maddening. It's brilliant.
I love how Charlie is more responsive and smiling and natural towards Alastor rather than her own dad, showing how she’s moved closer to him. Wow
You can also see how Alastor focuses on their daily interactions instead of what Lucifer COULD do for Charlie and the fact that he's family.
It’s crazy to think Alastor was a more active father figure in just a couple months cause of how absent Lucifer was
@@gamerstheater1187he's more of a business partner than a father figure
@@gamerstheater1187it's funny when you think that Charlie is much older than alastor😂
It also shows how distant Charlie and Lucifer are.
What’s killing me about this is Charlie taking Alastor’s “affection” seriously lol. She is too sweet for this world 😭
Both are equally petty and a bit facetious 😂
I would love to see alastor actually start to care and basically have some self doubt on what he's being there for,
Seeing how much he actually cares for her "potential" in the seventh episode maybe he actually cares for her but more as someone he can shape. As a tool he cares about
What if the target of Al's manipulation, at least in this case, was Lucifer, not Charlie? i.e., Alastor was just pretending to make a move on the 'dad niche' for Charlie to manipulate Lucifer into taking a more active interest in the Hotel?
@@martinnavarrete5279 are you thinking kinda like niffty?
