I actually like the Eldris for carving spoons, cups and bowls as well as other tasks. I agree that it's not a food prep knife, but it has it's uses compared to the Garberg or the Kansbol. I just bought the Kansbol, so I can't say much as far as experience, but being an avid outdoors kind of guy, I can tell it will have a place in my systems!
Well the Eldris isn't supposed to be a first or even second knife. Its a utility knife and allot sturdier and more reliable than a small folding knife some use.
No problem. I did not like it's performance so I'll keep using folding knives for their much higher utility.
If you like the Elders please use it. This is just my opinion.
Yeah, the Eldris is a bit of an oddity. It has the mixed blessing of being a neck knife with a beefy handle... easier on the hands than most, but also bulkier, which counters the appeal of a light, compact necker.
I still like mine though, but I don't fully understand why. :-p

Great review bro and I learnt something new that you can get a magnesium ingot, that’s genius idea. Only thing that confused me was WHY IN THE HELLS BELLS DIDNT YOU USE THE KNIFE ON THE FARROW ROD when you lit the fire because I thought that’s as part of the demonstration 🤣😂🤣😂 but I’m just being pedantic. Excellent review from a very pleasant guy.

If I had to replace my Mora 2000 it would be with the Kansbol. The blades are very user friendly and I wouldn't want to be without one in my (small) collection. Yes, the 2000s sheath is a little nasty and ugly but it works for me, the reason I would replace the 2000 with the Kansbol is the lanyard hole, very handy in snow, thick vegetation, at night though as you've demonstrated some bright electrical tape on the handle can make it a lot less losable. I had the same thought as yourself with the Eldris, an SAK or any decent folder would be much more useful.

I suspect Mora will come out with an orange Kansbol next year like the Mora 2000 has.

try use sheath as handle extension on eldris. unless you try to split wood, it should work.
Magnesium sucks as a tinder try fat wood, also eldris is a carving knife for bushcraft
