I can answer 1. The speed depends on where the VPN Server is. If both YOU and the SERVER have high speeds, then the VPN connection would be pretty fast. However, if either you, or the server have low speeds, then there will be bottlenecks.

I followed the instructions and it all installed and setup as in the video and got no errors...however, when I connect to say tcp80 (or any of the others) my internet shuts off entirely, saying that firewall is active. Internet returns when I disconnect from tcp80. What I am doing wrong?

It re-routes all traffic through your network. If you connect to the VPN server from the same network then your public IP will be the same. If you go to a restaurant or something and connect to it, they will be different.
