iPad Air 4 Screen Replacement | Four screws, no home buttons!

  • Today I have the iPad Air 4. Much like the iPad Air 2 and 3 before it, it uses a display that is glued to the glass. This is definitely one of the easier ones to repair, as no parts need to be transferred from the old display to the new one. Oh, and no home button to rip, that's a bonus! Nice video! Very informative. Do you think tape primer is needed?

      Not really needed, it definitely helps but isn't absolutely necessary

      Strangely the iPad Air 4 is one of the few new ones that doesn't have Face ID, and Touch ID is on the power button instead! Weird moves with Apple sometimes!

    You should encase a bunch of iPads in resin and use them as a workbench

    What if you buy a screen replacement that doesn’t come with the LCD cause I just wanna replace the screen, how would that work

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  Před 2 lety +1

      Lots of extra work, lots of risk. You'd have to separate the glue that bonds the LCD to the glass by using piano wire to cut the LCD out without bending or breaking it. If you're interested in the process just search for "phone lens separation" I personally won't do any repair like this due to the risk of breaking the display.

    Which screen protector did you buy and did it come with all the necessary tools? Also, do I need an additional part if my screen is shattered and has lines visible that's it UNLIKE a working screen with damage? Let me know and any valuable information is appreciated. I'm trying to do it on my own since I can't afford the $350-400 cost that every repair shop has quoted me where I live in Chicago.

      Also, do you repair screens if I was to ship my iPad to you? And of you do, what would you charge? Thank you

    Where did you purchase the new digitalizer/ screen from?

      Looks like this one came from Mobile Sentrix, you can also find them from Mobile Defenders and a few others

    Is there a way to replace just the digitizer ?

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  Před rokem

      Not on this one, at least not without heating and using piano wire to carefully cut the glue between the digitizer and LCD, cleaning the glue off, reapplying and curing with a UV light and a vacuum sealer. It ends up cheaper in terms of just time to replace the whole assembly.

      Yes, the only issue I've seen out of the Apple pencil is with replacement screens on the iPad 9.

    I want to get it replaced, I don't have money to buy a new ipad...
    is there is any quality difference between the original apple's display with the one you ordered, can one tell the difference??
    please reply for this one... need yours help

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  Před 2 lety +2

      The quality is near factory, I was not able to tell any noticeable difference. Look for ones listed as refurbished parts, this usually means that the LCD panel itself is an Apple part but the glass digitizer has been replaced with an aftermarket. This means you would get the exact same quality as the original. Unless you are running professional studio level color grading of photos and videos, I doubt you'll notice any kind of difference in quality, and even then you may not.
