    1:07 Robin says .."deliver the declaration of war papers" and Phil corrects him "the armistice papers" then Phil almost breaks when Robin says "pardon me, continuity!" Robin improvising from a flubbed line gets a huge laugh.

      Hartman was a consummate professional. Williams’ improvisational nature is not a fit with the “just read the cards” style of SNL.

    That was awesome how at the very end the master thespian said his line correctly and Robin Williams the manic film director sounds of glee in response made it even better

      I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it. Felt like a part of the sketch. That was truly an amazing recovery.

      It was written in. It's the 'director; continuity' schtick. Why do all the drones think it was flubbed? I swear people have lost their ability to read nuance and subtlety.

    I can't help but say that Dana Carvey is super cute here! ❤️ Still to this day he looks wonderful.
    But I guess my heart will always be Phil's 💔 It's amazing about his acting that he never said the same line in a same way during the next takes.
    God, how life can be surprisingly sad... Watching Phil and Robin together 💔
    May they both rest in peace...

    How does this only get 200K views after 8 years? Dennis Miller looked like he was in his early 20’s, Phil Hartman and Robin Williams are standing side by side and both have passed away, but Billie Eilish gets 1.1 billion views!

    Rare to see Phil Hartman break up, but he did after he corrected Robin.

      Yeah. This was only his fifth episode, so he was still pretty green. Probably the first time he had been in a situation like that on SNL of trying to smooth over a flub and then have the other actor go after him with ad libs. You could tell he tried to make his smile look like the character's natural reaction to the director, even though that clearly wasn't the type of character he was playing.

    1:04 Williams flubs his line describing the armistice papers, Phil corrects him because he realizes the mistake is big enough to matter, as this dialogue is not supposed to be about declaring a war, but about ending the war. Robin Williams then ad libs, calling the "continuity" people to fix the error, and Phil Hartman struggles to contain his laughter.

    Hartman, Carvey, Lovitz. Talk about Mount Rushmore compared to today’s show. Even Dennis Miller doing the “take 1” and Nealon on the camera. My favorite cast ever. Walk in Myers, Sandler, Rock, Schneider, Farley. Perfection.
