    So far .. so goooood!!! I have been so impressed since Jesse took the helm! I know it's very early days.. and we have a long way to go.. but yet have to produce results in a very short time.. but after what I have seen.... and after what I have heard from Jesse.. he has instilled a lot of confidence in me believing he is the right man for the job in leading the men's national team to greatness! I have to say.. every single time I watch his interviews I am loving how very thoughtful he is.. kind... positive and highly articulate! Hearing him talk about patience with himself.. the team and the journey... makes me think while he is striving for the very best in all facets of with national team. He is also very grounded, honest with himself... and everyone around him. I am really enjoying and loving to see this relationship with Jesse and the team grow... and I can't wait for tomorrow's match!!!!!! Let's go Canada... let's GOOOOOOOO------------------------ Cheers... from Ontario, Canada 🤩⚽🍁🍁🍁

    So far Jesse, a job well done! I spent a lot of money supporting these lads in Qatar, and if the projection I have for them stays true, I will have to do it again in 2026.

      He has been very impressive so far in so many ways!!!
      He also comes across as intelligent, confident, yet humble, which is a nice fit with the typical Canadian player & fan.
      Congrats to Kevin Blue & his team too!!!

      @@jrcanuck1 Yes agreed. One doesn't always get humble with an American sporting figure - so he's the right fit. Confident but humble. That's a good balance.

    Soccer Canada is near bankruptcy and so this success hopefully brings in some much needed revenue. Canada has already pocketed us$6M by reaching the consolation match, and will get another $1M if they come 3rd. 2nd place will get another $2M. All in, 1st gets $18M, 2nd gets $9M, 3rd gets $7M, 4th gets $6M, 5th thru 8th each get $4M, and 9th thru 16th receive $2M each. Total purse of approx. $72M. In all likelihood, Canada ends up 4th with $6M. All travel expenses are paid on top of that by CONMEBOL.
    Let's hope there's an agreement on how that gets split with the players so that we don't enter another protracted battle. At 50%, Soccer Canada stands to pocket us$3M and the player's share would be $3M/26 or $115K each. Beat Argentina however and everything increases 50%. Beat Argentina and win the final, and everything increases 300%. Decent money involved in winning the Copa America, but it's far more about the prestige..

      So far apparently new general secretary Kevin Blue far more competent and has changed a lot of thing, He can't change past deals because those have expiration dates, but Kevin blue is more competent Canada probably won't see any bad deals anymore and Canada soccer definitely won't be going bankrupt even if Canada lost in group stages just because Kevin blue is more competent.

      @@inurear Not likely the association I believe is 11 million in debt and let’s be nice and say Canada comes 3rd that’s 7 million. All that 7 million is not going to the association because certain players have been on strike for adequate pay so that 7 million is also going to players so the association is still gonna be in debt granted not as bad as before but still in debt.

      @@dantedavis4679 Sure, but they're in a BIG hole and this success will be monumental. Have you ever been unemployed for many months and just when the bank account is approaching zero, you land a good job. That is what it must feel for Kevin Blue this week.

    I appreciate his openness but wish he got into the details more at times on what he specifically sees in these players and their playing style that we don’t see.
    In a previous interview he has been but devil is in the details and most can’t see Larin and David starting at the same time against Argentina.

    • @spearmintmedia
      @spearmintmedia Před 13 dny +4

      Why wouldn’t you start David and Larin?

    • @inurear
      @inurear Před 13 dny +1

      Larin and David are next level strikers - they flirt with league leaders in top 5 leagues.
      They are also (and more importantly) defensively sound - this is why the 2 in the middle is working:
      Last we saw 2 in the mid was World Cup, when Herdman committed to pressing - the team got steamrolled in the middle forcing Atiba to play on the defensive line (waste of talent).
      Larin for Oluwesi is significantly more direct but notice that David is either fully midfield (not the move you want) or David is subbed out for a midfield entirely leaving us with only one clear path to goal --- this makes sense if the back line is tired as Oluwesi does put defenders on ice with his killer fast first step.
      In the next game i suspect we will remain the same up front, with the significant difference between the first Argentina game being Laryea and Shaff starting. If Laryea and Shaff start finding their targets after their drives (which is looking more and more likely) - even Argentina will have problems because Larin and David will certainly score if they get a few high xG deliveries.
      And at worst, if Argentina is pressing or being more direct, both Larin and David know how to pick up the extra man. Which is why we are where we are on the back of defensive performance.

      @mekan0001 Před 13 dny +3

      @@inurear you're over valuing Larin a lot.... He mostly comes off the bench for a bottom feeder in La Liga.... Scored 3 goals domestically.

    • @jrcanuck1
      @jrcanuck1 Před 12 dny +1

      @@mekan0001 , actually, 'inurear' nailed it!
      Well, futbol talent is in the eye of the beholder. In 2023, Larin had 8 goals in 19 appearances for Real Valladolid, which is pretty decent. For whatever reason, Mallorca never gave him a proper chance. It happens to North American players in Europe quite often, just like Richie Laryea, who was never even given a proper chance at Nottingham Forest.
      Anyway, the bottom line is that for whatever reason, Larin plays at an elite level when he plays for his country! He is, after all Canada's all time leading scorer.
      His defensive play in this tournament has been excellent!!!

    Get some Canada ! shaffelburg is a great choice , he has played so many times against messi , it should not faze him one bit. Just dont even touch messi , He is FIFA protected i dont want to see a 9 sided canada. This is the reason Final tickets are now at 1600 USD if argentina and columbia meet or Uruguay if its canada half empty. Also this year is the super ballon dor ? I predicted you guys to come out of the group and beat Ven albeit 55-45%. BUT the real Conmebol monsters are on B. USA pundits are 12 yr olds but lots of Americans fans hearts are with you, on planet earth though its 1-1 you lose penalties, or 3-1 full time if di maria plays but the ball is round and you never know. So common Canada world cup qualifiers, thats the best 32 in the world. you have earned your right to be here. So get some!!!!
