Funny story: bought a Elite Bistro from someone on Facebook. Trying to figure out how to use it came across your video. That damn hissing was scaring the crap out of me. Thought it was about to blow. Your video helped getting me thru it. Thanks man.
Also, my valve thing on the top kept leaking also. Had to play with it to get it to seal.

I made this and it came out great. Just a couple of differences, I had no garlic and the chicken wasn't frozen. Next time I'll add some extra pasta sauce after it's cooked. Please keep the pressure cooker recipes coming. I really look forward to them.

You should keep some tomato paste handy...It seems that you like pasta as I di too!! I always have jarred tomato sauce, tomato paste, and diced tomatoes in my pantry. Love your videos, Rick!!! Thank you for sharing!!

Hey Guy! When your pressure cooker starts making that hissing sound, it's okay to check your valve as you've done... But it also could be that your lid isn't on tight. Just push down and turn your lid clockwise to see if that helps! Mine does the same thing and that is what I do to stop the hissing and tighten the lid!! IJS...👍👍

I love that sort of food for breakfast also. Just a thought, I wonder if you wrote to the Elite company and included a link with the video if they would send you a replacement lid. From how you describe it, it is definitely defective. There must be a U.S. representative as QVC (or HSN) sells them in large numbers. (fyi - my pressure cooker is an Instapot.)
+2000konnie Hi, I'm glad you liked it! I did write to Elite but received No Response. A few other people asked me about the pressure valve problem as well. That's the only reason i like the Cuisinart better.
My girls - 11 yesterday and 13 in January - are rotten!! Do not appreciate anything I make outside of frozen/packaged food. They loved this!!! I added chopped onion and extra italian spice mix. I think next time I am going toss in a little carrots for sweetness and kale for health and tell them its italian seasoning!! So easy... I am a pretty fair cook, but learning the IP, THANK YOU!!!

I was skeptical so I tired it... It worked! I just made small adjustments like making the water to sauce ratio 1:1, and in cooked it 2 min longer to have softer pasta. I used thawed chicken so I could season it, and added salt to the water so I can season the pasta. Very pleased with the outcome.

I'm wondering if the reason your pressure knob broke is bc you block the vent when releasing the pressure. The instructions (at least for the Instant Pot) tell you in big bold letters to NEVER block the vent with a towel or anything else when releasing the pressure. There is no reason your cabinets cannot handle steam. Many kitchens do not have microwaves and/or range hoods over their stoves and their cabinets get along just fine. If you're that concerned then wipe them down with a towel after releasing the pressure or simply turn your pot around when you are ready to release the pressure so that it doesn't get on your cabinets.
Made this in my 10qt Red Elite Pressure Cooker "Big Red" with Bertolli Vodka sauce, elbow noodles and mozzarella cheese on top! I just hit the 5 minute Fish & Vegetable button and then I started searching to find out how long I should cook it and found your video. You are fantastically funny and I love your videos! I do the same thing; try it and see so, I thought I would leave it and try it after 5 minutes and actually worked out perfectly. *** I love this pressure cooker and thought it was a gonner when someone turned on the stove burner underneath it and melted the bottom but NOT SO! The company sent me a new wire part for free and it STILL WORKS, even with the bottom burned out! I use Big Red almost daily! Thanks for your videos!!

Did you find the 5 minute Fish & Vegetable was good enough? I followed what Rick said and used Meat and Vegetables, and kept going up until I got to 7 minutes. I released pressure so it wouldn't over cook. It was scorched a little at the bottom, so I don't know if that was from browning the ground turkey first in the same pot, but I did let it cool down for 3 minutes before starting the pressure again (per the instruction book). It was great, but I just didn't like that it scorched, not burnt, but a little stuck at the bottom. Maybe the Fish & Vegetable setting isn't as hot as the other. I don't know. Trial & error when doing recipes you care just making up as you go.

It depends what you're cooking. Maybe yours came with a recipe book? I usually look it up online or by trial and error.
i am making it right now. i must have had the pressure button to low. had to redo it some. going up in a few to check it out. smells good though. to bad i cannot eat much do to my tummy

Should it be completely sealed up? As mine leaks from the limit valve at the hole to the left of the release unless i pull out the tab on end of handle,but scared to leave it out?
Well if you have the Elite brand like this is, it does that often. I have to jiggle it around to make it seal. That's why I find the Elite brand is of the worst quality. I wrote to the company about it and never received any response.
@@RickMammana I'm talking about the nipple that sticks out of the handle to hold the relief valve,as mine leaks there and I don't know if i should let it seal or not?
@@match360 It will hiss for a while but it should stop when it reaches pressure.
If you do a natural release, how do you know when the time is up?

I just got an 8-quart instant pot Duo plus and I noticed that as is coming to pressure it's pots out some steam but then it stops once it comes to pressure is that normal have you noticed that on your instant pot

Please answer my question I have this machine and I use it a lot but it make noise is that normal. I have other one and there is no noise .
It will make a hissing noise until the pressure builds up, after that it shouldn't make noise.

Has Big Blue died yet??? My liner got dented and won’t fit in the pressure cooker anymore but the unit itself is almost new. I think I used it maybe 12 times!
No it still worked but it never really sealed correctly. We gave it away. :)

As long as it fits make it the same way. As long as it's less than 2 thirds full.

Hi Rick how do I stop burning the bottom of the pot food??
see i don't release the pressure right away, let it natural release at least five or ten minutes because i had a very bad day with dry chicken and was told thats how to avoid that from happening. haven't had a disappointment yet. that was the one and only instapot failure i ever had, it wasn't the end of the world but far from the great results i am starting to get used to.

Love your test and see approach! This is not at all a good testimony to the "Elite" brand you are cooking with however.
In addition to the valve flaw, this pressure cooker has poor design. You can't decrease the time without going up to 59 seconds and start from zero? I like your Instant Pot a lot better.

Garlic is considered to be about five times as toxic as onions for cats and dogs. ... While minute amounts of these foods in some pets, especially dogs, may be safe, large ingestions can be very toxic.

Jo Froglegs you are absolutely correct. I have worked with animals my entire life, the garlic is EXTREMELY TOXIC.
Pets have been known to eat mushrooms in yards and while on walks. While 99% of mushrooms have little or no toxicity, the 1% that are highly toxic can cause life-threatening problems in pets.

Rox can't eat or rather shouldn't be eating that stuff. Please no more human food for her. Trust me I learned the hard way always giving my Sofie Jack Russle mix same size Rox human food not as much as you and she got a really bad inflamed pancreatitis which caused a lot of pain for her and med were like 500$.
