My improvised movie trailer includes some of my favored scenes.
"Before I Go" was the theme tune to the film "Parting Shots" which Chris Rea stared.
It was never put on an original release, just "in the film" version.
Parting Shots is a 1998, 1999 (UK) film starring Chris Rea, Felicity Kendal, Joanna Lumley, John Cleese, Bob Hoskins, Ben Kingsley, Oliver Reed, Diana Rigg.
A star-studded cast is the highlight of this darkly humorous gangster tale of Harry, a man with only a short time to live, who's looking to get even with his enemies before he goes.
Lots of fun from beginning to end, with Chris Rea as an understatedly bewildered and reluctant serial killer and with Felicity Kendal as his less than innocent accomplice.
It was the last film directed by Michael Winner.
Storyline:
Harry Sterndale (Rea), a failed photographer, is told that he has only three months to live due to him getting cancer.
After thinking things over he decides that since he is dying anyway that he will kill or destroy all the people that has ever crossed or hurt him during his entire life.
So Parting Shots becomes literally the shots fired by Harry when he knows he is parting this earth.
After all, he will be dead anyway long before he can come to trial and get his just desserts from society.
Harry even falls in love with Jill and hires an assassin to kill him in style.
However there is just one small problem with Harry's master plan - the cancer diagnosis is totally inaccurate and now he's got a hitman on his trail and several policemen want to talk to him over some murders...
I suggest anyone who hasn't seen this movie does so now, if only for the hilarious restaurant scene where Sterndale (Rea) and Jill Saunders (Felicity Kendall) can't seem to catch the eye of the waiter.
Parting Shots has propelled British comedy onto the world stage.

This movie (1998) does not in 2017 look like one of the worst movies of all time (as it was characterized by the British critics etc. when first released). It is a Lifetime movie, black comedy, full of cameos of great characters. Time has really made a big difference. Thank you for posting this video, & really appreciate Chris Rea! DAVEDJ

This movie gets a lot of flack for being apparently bad. I personally couldn't find a DVD version of it so bought it on an old video tape. I absolutely loved it. Very dark comedy. Sure it's not the best movie I've seen I'll be honest but the worst absolutely not. The music is sublime in this and I've just grown to adore Chris's music over the last few months. Helped me through a lot including writing my dissertation.
I’ve tried to find this movie on DVD but it’s always the German dub. It’s a real old school feel good movie with a belting cast. One of my favourite films as a guilty cheesy pleasure. I had it recorded to my Sky receiver box. That went wonky and was told by the engineer that it was lost forever 😞
