All of the Memphis Mafia guys said that Elvis was broken hearted when he had to call it off with Ann. His cook said that she caught Elvis crying because he didn't want to get married and she said call it off which Elvis replied 'I can't, Cilla's Dad is threatening to sue me if I don't marry her and Colonel Parker said that I needed to marry Cilla cause she has been in Memphis so long. Ann said in an interview that she knew that something was had happened when she didn't receive flowers on August 16th because Elvis always sent Ann flowers on an opening night. I hope that all Elvis fans had a Happy Valentine's Day today.
Yes even to this day. She just gave a recent interview, and I can't remember with who, and of course he was asking something about Elvis, and she was very cute about it, started asking the guy about his socks. She could very well say before every interview DO NOT ASK ME ANYTHING ABOUT ELVIS - but she doesn't. She just very politely tells of their friendship and that's all. Most loyal to Elvis in every way.

The reason Ann and Elvis never ended up together, was Priscilla being in the middle. Elvis was too much of a gentleman to end it with her, because he knew that her parents would have brought him so much trouble that would have wrecked his career. Ann and Elvis’ relationship lasted for one year. And Elvis did love Ann and she loved Elvis!. It would have worked. But Elvis let that happiness pass him by. Elvis adored and truly loved Ann. Of course, everyone has their own opinion of who they like and who they don't like, but one thing for sure, Ann has never revealed anything salacious. Elvis would send her flowers at the clothing store she worked for, Elvis called her, and even took her for rides in his car. In knowing what I read from Lucy's book Are You Lonesome Tonight, Elvis was so in love with Lucy he even hired a private investigator to find her when she disappeared from his life. Lucy told Elvis more than once he should not want to be with her due to the fact that even though Lucy was 16 years old when she met him. Lucy was already married and had children (she did not tell Elvis at first and told him latter she was married and had kids), it was an arrange marriage where her husband paid Lucy's family money to marry her when if I remember correctly when Lucy was 11 or 10 years old, this man abused Lucy. Elvis would not stop trying to date Lucy. Even though Lucy kept saying it was not right for her to be with him and in knowing what I read in Lucy's book she did not want their relationship to derail his beginning singing career. Lucy wanted to divorce her husband, but he refused to divorce her, Lucy was finally able to separate from her abusive husband and make a life for her and her children. In knowing what I read Elvis asked Lucy to marry him and she said no not because she did not want to marry him it was because of her husband would not give her a divorce and Lucy did not have the money to pay for the divorce either. Elvis offered to pay the money and Lucy said no she did not want to take money from Elvis. And Lucy did not want to write her book the only reason why Lucy wrote about her and Elvi's relationship it was so her daughter would know the truth about how she came to be.

Elvis and Ann Marget had lots in common and they were a lot alike in heart and soul. They both were very attractive, talented, and had the world in the palm of their hands. Nonetheless, Elvis was already promised to Priscilla, even though he hadn't married her yet. I think if Priscilla wouldn't have been in the picture, Elvis may've kept up his romance with Ann Marget, but it was fated to end and Elvis was meant to marry Priscilla. Ann Margret would go on to marry husband Roger Smith, just a few months after Elvis married Priscilla in 1967. The reason their relationship didn't work out is for several reasons, one of the most apparent of all reasons was, Priscilla was in the background and was Elvis's girlfriend. One of the other reasons was that Ann Marget wasn't about to give up her career to be with Elvis, as his wife, as she had worked very hard for her position in show business. Elvis wanted a woman, who would be someone he could mold into his personal woman, and that is who Priscilla was in essence. Even though Elvis and Priscilla were incompatible with each other, and their marriage didn't last, it was still destined for Elvis to marry Priscilla not Ann Margret. I think if Elvis would've married Ann Marget, he may've stayed married, and would've tried very hard to be faithful to her. Besides this, she was Elvis's idea of the woman he wanted, and the woman who would soon become his wife and mother of his only child Lisa Marie. Both also shared a "relationship" together and it is also true that Ann Margret is a special person, not only as a women but as a human being in general. Kind and warm hearted. So, excatly the opposite of Priscilla. 😀 Why Elvis once told Larry Geller, that both women reseamble each other so much, I will never understand. Sometimes I think, that Elvis neither didn't understand his own emotions he had for someone, especially a certain woman and that he won't understand what made a person special. Elvis in my personal opinion had a focus on looks and superficial traits like body, stature, bone structure, but couldn't cherish the person for herself, he just "compared" the women he was interested in to himself or to his mother and overlooked her individual character. He was a bit narcissistic in this respect and this is also the reason why he totally underestimated Priscilla as an individual, he just wanted her as housewife following his traditions. With Ann Margret he shared a relationship between collegues and yes, you are absolutely right, Elvis would have never married Ann Margret as he saw competition in her and he never could accept it (especially in his younger years, when a woman besides him had his own carreer. He had a very controlling manner and women in his world weren't as strong as men and had to stay at home. It was certainly a stigma of that time and how he was raised, but I also think, that his character was like that, a bit narcissistic in private relationships and competitive as he was so much focused on his own persona and image and very sensitive when being critisized.) Ann Margret instead needed a life partner she could rely on, which she found in Roger, who supported her. He played a role for her, which Elvis couldn't. But Elvis was very fascinated of Ann again for narcisstic reasons, cause he compared himself to her. To be honest, I dond't think that Elvis was able to love a women for herself as a partner being exclusively committed to her. That was his dark side. He used women more as arm candy or for fooling around or to play her role in his life as a mother and the wife of his children (which also was difficult as he couldn't have more children with the same women because of his mother trauma / complex), but not for herself as an individual. As I said these are the traits of a narcissist and his female fans believe until today, that he loved every woman. No, far from it. He loved the "imagination" or the "ideal" of "how a woman had to be in his world" and when he found someone, he made her fit wthin his patterns. But she had to play the game based on his rules and he lied much while cheating constantly. But this is another topic. Just this: Elvis was the King of the impersonal love, but not of a personal commitment seeing eye-to-eye with someone.

Thanks for your transparant analysis. I agree. And I highly respect Ann Margret for keeping her integrity. I also think that Elvis, in his opinion, must keep that promise to marry Priscilla. Why? Because of strong external pressure? A kind of different love for her than for Ann? Questions. And so many different points of view.. Maybe Ann M would have been the strong woman he'd have needed and listened to. Like his mam was. Especially when I learn from you she was the only woman that he picked up in person. Seems to me like genuine fondness, love and respect.

I think she too (as many others) should have more respect and privacy talking about Elvis. Be more honest telling also about herself, about what she got from Elvis: good life, lots of gifts and unlimited credit card (some biographies say that Vernon was furious about it). Then today she speaks sweetly and "appears" to have been be the best woman for Elvis but in my opinion, she too didn't have too many scruples about obtaining advantages for herself.
It's a pity some of his other partners didn't have this ladies attitude - and kept the most intimate and personal details of their relationship with him private - as we would all like the intimate personal details of our relationships kept. The reason Ann and Elvis never ended up together, was Priscilla being in the middle. Elvis was too much of a gentleman to end it with her, because he knew that her parents would have brought him so much trouble that would have wrecked his career. Ann and Elvis’ relationship lasted for one year. And Elvis did love Ann and she loved Elvis!. It would have worked. But Elvis let that happiness pass him by. Elvis adored and truly loved Ann. And right until the end she kept her promise to Elvis and has remained loyal and true to Elvis’ memory. And I doubt very much that she will ever divulge anything about their passionate affair. And he knew he could trust her. That’s why he opened up to her about everything going on in his life. Elvis and Ann did meet up again, when Ann was on a temporary break from Roger Smith. And Elvis practically begged her back. You could see in Ann’s eyes as she sat in the back of the car that she wanted to accept. But ended up saying “ No”. Of course, everyone has their own opinion of who they like and who they don't like, but one thing for sure, Ann has never revealed anything salacious. She won't even tell us the good things about their relationship - just that they had a relationship and that they remained friends. She has remained one of the MOST loyal women in his life. A marriage between them would have never worked.

In fact, I don’t think for a second that he would have married Priscilla, except for the promise to her father and the very real risk of extremely bad publicity if he didn’t go through with it. This was not the first time Elvis by himself would pick up and spend alone time with the woman he was in love with.
Elvis when he just was starting out his singing career, he met a French girl named Lucy de Bardin and knowing what I read from Lucy's book. Elvis would send her flowers at the clothing store she worked for, Elvis called her, and even took her for rides in his car.
In knowing what I read from Lucy's book Are You Lonesome Tonight, Elvis was so in love with Lucy he even hired a private investigator to find her when she disappeared from his life.
Lucy told Elvis more than once he should not want to be with her due to the fact that even though Lucy was 16 years old when she met him. Lucy was already married and had children (she did not tell Elvis at first and told him latter she was married and had kids), it was an arrange marriage where her husband paid Lucy's family money to marry her when if I remember correctly when Lucy was 11 or 10 years old, this man abused Lucy.
Elvis would not stop trying to date Lucy. Even though Lucy kept saying it was not right for her to be with him and in knowing what I read in Lucy's book she did not want their relationship to derail his beginning singing career. Lucy wanted to divorce her husband, but he refused to divorce her, Lucy was finally able to separate from her abusive husband and make a life for her and her children. In knowing what I read Elvis asked Lucy to marry him and she said no not because she did not want to marry him it was because of her husband would not give her a divorce and Lucy did not have the money to pay for the divorce either. Elvis offered to pay the money and Lucy said no she did not want to take money from Elvis.
And Lucy did not want to write her book the only reason why Lucy wrote about her and Elvi's relationship it was so her daughter would know the truth about how she came to be.

Yes, but think of the repercussions. Elvis had Priscilla living in his house with him for about 4 years, as a teenager, and they kept it out of the media, God only knows how. Back then, if it got out that she was living with him all that time, then he ditched her for someone else, it would have been catastrophic for Elvis' reputation as a clean cut all American man. Elvis and Ann Margret had more than just a summer fling. I have to disagree with you, when you called their romance, a summer fling. Elvis and Ann Marget had lots in common and they were a lot alike in heart and soul. They both were very attractive, talented, and had the world in the palm of their hands. Nonetheless, Elvis was already promised to Priscilla, even though he hadn't married her yet. I think if Priscilla wouldn't have been in the picture, Elvis may've kept up his romance with Ann Marget, but it was fated to end and Elvis was meant to marry Priscilla. Ann Margret would go on to marry husband Roger Smith, just a few months after Elvis married Priscilla in 1967. The reason their relationship didn't work out is for several reasons, one of the most apparent of all reasons was, Priscilla was in the background and was Elvis's girlfriend. One of the other reasons was that Ann Marget wasn't about to give up her career to be with Elvis, as his wife, as she had worked very hard for her position in show business. Elvis wanted a woman, who would be someone he could mold into his personal woman, and that is who Priscilla was in essence. Even though Elvis and Priscilla were incompatible with each other, and their marriage didn't last, it was still destined for Elvis to marry Priscilla not Ann Margret. I think if Elvis would've married Ann Marget, he may've stayed married, and would've tried very hard to be faithful to her. I do think Elvis really loved Ann, but as I previously stated, he had already promised Priscilla's stepfather to marry her one day. Besides this, she was Elvis's idea of the woman he wanted, and the woman who would soon become his wife and mother of his only child Lisa Marie. Ann Marget was probably Elvis's one true love, I say this because, Elvis did honestly love her and wanted to share his life with her. Nonetheless, it wasn't meant to work out that way, and he went on to be with Priscilla who was totally wrong for him as a wife. Priscilla wasn't Elvis's one true love, but I do think, Ann Marget could've been had it been meant to work out between them. Elvis loved Ann Marget, up until, the day he died. I don't think he ever got over her or loving her. Besides, Ann Marget, I do think Linda Thompson could've been Elvis's true love had their relationship worked out in a positive way. Again, their relationship wasn't meant to be, as husband and wife only boyfriend and girlfriend.

People are talking much about Elvis and Ann Margret, both were actors and singers and both had an undeniable chemistry together and on stage. This is true. Both also shared a "relationship" together and it is also true that Ann Margret is a special person, not only as a women but as a human being in general. Kind and warm hearted. So, excatly the opposite of Priscilla. 😀 Why Elvis once told Larry Geller, that both women reseamble each other so much, I will never understand. Sometimes I think, that Elvis neither didn't understand his own emotions he had for someone, especially a certain woman and that he won't understand what made a person special. Elvis in my personal opinion had a focus on looks and superficial traits like body, stature, bone structure, but couldn't cherish the person for herself, he just "compared" the women he was interested in to himself or to his mother and overlooked her individual character. He was a bit narcissistic in this respect and this is also the reason why he totally underestimated Priscilla as an individual, he just wanted her as housewife following his traditions. With Ann Margret he shared a relationship between collegues and yes, you are absolutely right, Elvis would have never married Ann Margret as he saw competition in her and he never could accept it (especially in his younger years, when a woman besides him had his own carreer. He had a very controlling manner and women in his world weren't as strong as men and had to stay at home. It was certainly a stigma of that time and how he was raised, but I also think, that his character was like that, a bit narcissistic in private relationships and competitive as he was so much focused on his own persona and image and very sensitive when being critisized.)
Ann Margret instead needed a life partner she could rely on, which she found in Roger, who supported her. He played a role for her, which Elvis couldn't. But Elvis was very fascinated of Ann again for narcisstic reasons, cause he compared himself to her. To be honest, I dond't think that Elvis was able to love a women for herself as a partner being exclusively committed to her. That was his dark side. He used women more as arm candy or for fooling around or to play her role in his life as a mother and the wife of his children (which also was difficult as he couldn't have more children with the same women because of his mother trauma / complex), but not for herself as an individual. As I said these are the traits of a narcissist and his female fans believe until today, that he loved every woman. No, far from it. He loved the "imagination" or the "ideal" of "how a woman had to be in his world" and when he found someone, he made her fit wthin his patterns. But she had to play the game based on his rules and he lied much while cheating constantly. But this is another topic. Just this: Elvis was the King of the impersonal love, but not of a personal commitment seeing eye-to-eye with someone.

Well, Priscilla was riding around smoking and drinking with guys when she was 12 according to her friends. So she became a shy, meek woman when she was introduced to Elvis. And boom, there you go.
