- After not being able to find a great video on alcantara / suede cleaning I decided I would make one myself. I found a great product (sonax) that will completely restore your matted steering wheels and shift knobs. In my opinion this worn steering wheel looks brand new and was done for very cheap! Let me know what you think of the transition!

The side by side at 9:55 as amazing. Definitely going to do this on my wheel!
That looks amazing
“New steering wheel is a few hundred dollars”…
*crying because AMG*
it works amazing. I used it on my 2005 BMW 330ci ZHP steering wheel. I recommend boar hair brushes that are for detailing.
Just bought a zl1 and I’m definitely going to use this product. Thanks!
Thanks for this video! I just bought a wheel like this for my car and it’s in the same shape. This gives me hope 🙌
was looking at a used 18' camaro zl1 and the alcantara is super matted great to see that it can be restored nicely for cheap
Nice job on the video. I have watched a few videos, your approach following the Sonax directions produced excellent results without doing any damage to the Alcantara. I have the same C7 Z06 wheel, and I am looking forward to getting the same results. My wheel is only matted down at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions and not as much build up as on your wheel, so I am encouraged seeing the drastic improvement you achieved.
That looks incredible. Great work!
Man, thanks for this! I am still working with the steering wheel on a 2012 Gallardo that looked as bad as what you started with, I wasn't doing a couple of steps you are doing here so I am going to try again.
How do you know its dirt coming off and not the Alcantara being worn off by you scrubbing it?
Don't scrub it with a lot of pressure and keep it very saturated w cleaner.
Looks great
Track day at M1
Yummy dead skin, grease, oils and dirt get caught in that just like a microfiber. I dont want to wear gloves when driving so i stick with leather, lol. Seat inserts and such are fine provided you have a shirt and pants as a barrier.
You can use dish washer soap.
What a bad material for such a application.
That material is absolute trash. Cheap Chinese cars come with that trash.
