Do you think you know something as interesting as the fact that there's a country north of America? Submit it to our suggestions bin, and maybe it'll turn into an HAI video! Also, if we use your topic, we'll eventually send you a free HAI t-shirt, which is cool, I guess. Submit here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfUdlvw6YgU44J8AnM2U_ZvRMyvh_CUM51LYSqF5nYJB9d1-w/viewform?usp=sf_link

The correct number of countries in the world would be 192 + how much of these you recognise.
There are also smaller independence movements, I just listed the ones I knew
While Israel is independent, and a majority of UN recognise it, many Islamic countries and North Korea don’t.
The land between Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt is recognised as fully Israel by some, fully Palestine by some and some nations recognise both.
China is also disputed as Taiwan claims it as their land but I don’t think that claim is recognised by a lot of countries.

The reason is Waterton-Glacier is really two parks... one side is a National Park of Canada and the other a US National Park... sharing a common border. Similar to Peace Arch Park where the US side is a Washington state park and the Canadian side is a BC provincial park... even though there is no restriction crossing from one side to the other within the park, as long as you exit on the same side you entered.

@@mrbrainbob5320 Yes but the naming is funny. South Europe is in Europe but South America isn't in "America". At least not since people from the USA decided that "America" refers to their country as opposed to the new world in general.

As a non-American (I think in American that the word for that is alien) I can categorically state. There are still other countries outside of America... We haven't yet all been wiped out by covid, consumerism, or thermonuclear war... Yet

Nah following WW2 America took over most of the free world, and became an empire, not by boots on the ground mind you, but rather by the wallet as well as culture. Thereby America has conquered without actually conquering! Brilliant! This is why cultural phenomena as well as crisis are currently synced around the world. The issue is that the US failed in their conquest of China and stalemated in Russia. JK! XD

There are a couple other shared US/Canada parks, such as the BWCA Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park, and the shared Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, made up of Glacier NP in the US and Waterton Lakes NP in Canada....
Also interestingly, the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, was the only National Park designated as a memorial to a person. "Memorial" was removed from the park name in 1978.

I traveled to the Boundary waters north of Ely Minnesota, also known as Quetico. ( in the 1980's ) My understanding was that this National Park was shared by Canada, and USA. WE paddled to a house off the lakes to clear customs requirements. We paddled from Minnesota 60 miles into Canada.
