- Popular Nigerian pastor, Abel Damina, the controversial cleric and Senior Pastor of Abel Damina Ministries International, recently said in a sermon that God is not a Christian and one does not need to be a Christian to make heaven.
He stated that Abraham, David, other revered figures, and even Jesus, who made heaven, were not Christians.
He argued that believers were granted entry into heaven long before the
inception of Christianity.
He explained that the label “Christianity” was bestowed by non-believers and that Paul and his followers were referred to as believers or disciples before they were called "Christians."

Those days they practice Judaism and even jesus go to the synagogue too either to preach or to listen to the teaching of the elders, we are just Christians by name bcos of the renaming that occured at Antioch b4 then the followers of christ are called either apostles or disciples. So people that are righeous but have a strong belief in something else shall make heaven. Muslims, Atheists, traditionalists etc that love God through treating fellow human beings right and also helping others will make heaven, even many so called Christians will rotten in hell Matthew 8:11-12 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom(Christians)shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Christian means "Like Christ" Obviously it makes sense to say God or Jesus isnt 'like Christ'. Christ isn't like Christ, he is Christ!
As for whether people went to heaven before Christ, biblically no one did, they did stay in a place called "Abraham's bosom as in the story of the rich man and Lazarus actually called "Hades" Luke 16:23 not the lake of fire.
In the roman catholic church they call it purgatory. However, the fulfillment of Christ's sacrifice paid the price for sin and then ppl cld then go to heaven, those were the holy ppl that rose up from the graves Matthew 27:52-53.
So ppl cldnt make it to heaven until Christ had paid the price to their sin.

Now, where in the Bible does God, Jesus, Apostles, etc, call each other Christians. That was a word used by unbelievers to call those who follow Christ. It is not a wrong word to use. But Christianity does not give you salvation. Jesus does. This is just simple as it is..
