Mac Miller was/is one of the best artists to ever grace us with his murals. His progression throughout his life was phenomenal. I consider him to be one of the great American poets.
A lot of people say he was a huge help for them, someone they could relate with, an inspiration. He helps me everyday but I can't help myself, unfortunately. I really can relate to his later works when he was using and spitting real ass shit. I felt I found someone who could say the words I cannot. I'm strung out on every drug imaginable , I'm an alcoholic , with severe depression, suicidal tendencies, a shit life , but I still am always laughing like a child and cheesing from cheek ta cheek. Watching Movies with the Sound Off and Faces are really the Mac Miller sound that I go for. I liked K.I.D.S. when it came out and I was 14 or 15 (maybe younger?), but when Blue Slide Park dropped I stopped listening to Mac's music.
Then he drops shit like this?! Fuckin' incredible. This song, particularly, got me back into Mac Miller. I Am Who Am (Killin' Time) is a fucking masterpiece.
Blue Slide Park really wasn't that bad. I've just always seen it as a very toned down kids. It's in a way where he started experimenting with his music instead of keeping it the same.

Of all his timeless gems, this one is and has been my favorite. Pure poetry. Almost an omniprescence of sorts. I've come back to this song literally thousands of times. It occured to me tonight, while in quite an emotional state, that I don't think I've visited it since the god himself moved on. Tonight was the first night I finally came back. Tonight was also the first time I cried to this song, and also the first time I truly felt the pain of losing a real legend in the music scene. I think I finally felt his pain for a split second and it was a very profound moment for me. Reading all of these appreciations and memorials of him broke me down and the realization that this man is no longer going to create anymore beautiful vibrations finally set in. As a very passionate music lover in every way, this hurt my heart a little bit. It opened me up. Poured various emotions out. And I think I'm better now. Sorry to ramble like this, I don't even comment on CZcams videos. I always read and read and read. But the impact I had at this specific moment was enough for me that I had to out it out there. But I might give them a listen just to see where he's at. Every artist goes through it man. Some guys don't change their lyrical flow and perspectives too much and keep it real their whole careers but when you're in the spotlight like Mac is where power, fame, money, and sex are so idolized, it's almost inevitable that everything about you including your perspectives and beliefs will change with it :p I think that's where you get different opinions from listeners when rappers go through that transitional stage as to personal preference, but regardless of whether you like a dude's new stuff or not it's still dope to see basically a timeline of a guy going through different experiences. I remember copping this album during my first year of high school. Truly changed me for life, thank you for giving a piece of you Mac. I don’t know where i would be without your music.
When watching movies with the sound off came out, this song immediately caught my attention. Lyrically, this song has me. It might be kind of old, but whenever I listen to it its like listening to it for the first time. When the video came out i was just blown away. Its a work of art & its amazing. The settings 3 settings in the video are nicely done. The room that Mac's in is beautiful. There's something about this song & video that just gets to me. I know I'm not not the only one that feels this way about this video and song. Absolutely my favorite song he's made.
Mac has really turned a corner in his career. He was just a fun HS party music rapper who you'd bump in the car sometimes but now he's evolved to a whole new level. GO:OD AM is on Good Kid MAAD City level.
