    As a Coventrian born and bred, it always pains me to see "The Burges" as a name for that street. It is just "Burges".
    No reflection on the film which is brilliant, just a personal irk of mine :)

    seeing images and movies from the past is always fascinating but when you know the places it just takes on another level

    Hi- we are putting together a short film about Coventry and was wondering if we could use some of this footage as part of our film?
    We would attribute the copyright to yourself.
    Kind regards Ciaran Davis

      Dean your film collection is amazing. I know you do film shows for older people in the city. Think you should be made a Freeman of the City. Good on you mate

    What a shame most of this got destroyed during WW2. Even worse, what the local authority did next - ignoring the pre-war street footprint and layout. Those post war planners really made a dog's dinner of the city. They have alot to answer for. Amazing video clip btw.

      You can bet that the 'we know best' arrogant planning bastards all lived in Leamington Spa or Stratford on Avon.

    I can't work out the location shown around the one minute mark. It doesn't look like anything in the Hertford Street area.

      the building with lines round the brick work still stands and is now a posh eating house

      @@deannelson2207 hello Dean, I feel that I wasn't clear enough with my initial question. I was referring to the next scene at 1:00 exactly. The scenes either side of this image are of Hertford Street but nothing resembling that scene appears to have existed in the area. My thoughts are that it could be somewhere further down Warwick Road.

      @@nottmjas Hi, it's towards the Hales Street end of Corporation street I think. The traffic is going along Corporation Street, and to the right is Wells Street. I recognise the building that used to be the camping/workwear shop "AW Lynes."

    • @nottmjas
      @nottmjas Před 2 lety

      @@andrewwigglesworth3030 you're right about Corporation Street from the Hales Street junction, but that's at 1:40. The building you are referring to was the only one built between Corporation Street and Well Street between the war, according to OS maps.
