Brilliant. Brought me back to when I was 16 to 20 living in Lower Ford Street, before joining the Army. The background music is so apt too. Then I used to go to Leeds away matches. Returning, it was a mad dash from the railway station to a pub next to ABC Theatre. Pay 50p to get in and a few pints before the walk home to watch MoTD. Alternatively a Friday/Saturday night, was a quick one at the Silver Sword, then to the Allhambra, few pints there and then across the road to the other pub whose name escapes me. Walk home across Pool Meadow, chips from the chippy and home. The great old days when we would say "Never going to pay a quid for a pint" Oh.....not forgetting my attire of Farah trousers, Fred Perry T Shirt, and Pringle jumper.

Spent too much money in a lot of those pubs, but wouldn’t swap it for the world! 80s through to early 90s was brill time to be a Cov kid👍
Ska, then the acid house ( silver sword , dog and trumpet) then Rave,( Amnesia and the Eclipse)
If I’m right in remembering, the Elastic Inn was always called The Stretch?
    Great memories, thank you👍

I went from Ireland to study in Coventry over 20 years ago, flippin loved the place. Great bars, nightspots. Recently I went on Google maps and the changes I noticed were unreal. All round the train station, city centre, new buildings all over. I drank in Shakespeare bar, City Arms Earlsdon and others I don't remember names of.

What a wonderful selection! You've missed out the legendary The General Wolfe. Also - The Radford (Hotel), The Grapes. The Spittlemoor. The Brewer & Baker in Hillfields. To name but a few. And there was once a pub - a small one - long pulled down now - that stood opposite the old fire station and next door to Sewell's art gallery as you headed out of town. The pub's back yard would have backed onto Lady Herbert's Gardens. Ah yes - many a good night was had there. And can anyone remember those horrible push button pumps that were popular for a while in the 80's but have happily since disappeared?
