    Just a question - why do u need a google home pad to control google stuff can’t u just control google from a shortcut from Siri to google assistant ?

    • @mdoh8209
      @mdoh8209 Před 2 lety

      So just figured it out , u can just add into shortcuts on iPhone that links it to google assistant to tell google supported devices the action required. So if u want a light to turn on u ask Siri then it will ask google assistant in the app directly and u don’t need a google hub at all so this method u completely get rid of the good hud and just ask Siri I’m only saying it this way because this is what I was looking for and your video has proven this thank u heaps for the help wish I could give more of a thumps up for this video

    One neat option I’d add to all the great ones you detailed. I wanted the flexibility to trigger any arbitrary command in Assistant from Siri so I made a shortcut that accepts voice dictation and then forwards that as input to the Ask Google action.
    It’s a little annoying that I have to pause and wait for the voice dictation step to start (rather than it just forwarding whatever I say after the trigger) but it works decently otherwise.

    Great, just what I was looking for so I don't need another google home mini to shout at to turn off my bedroom lights. Unfortunately my Apple Watch won't follow google assistant directions and directs me to use my phone. I generally have it going to bed anyhow.
    Caveat: For me Siri ask google shortcut hangs in google assistant after successfully issuing the command. After that it won't process the next step in the shortcut, such as "Go to Home Screen". This is despite the fact it works fine when you initiate the shortcut through touch as opposed to voice. Anyone run into this?

    When I try to set up my routines in Assistant, I am not able to control which device they go to. When I try, they are all grayed out and it says when a spoken command is used, it will always play on the device the command was spoken to...resulting in the audio coming out of my phone instead of my chosen speaker. I am working with an iPhone XS Max with iOS 15.4.1. Do you have any ideas?

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  Před 2 lety +1

      Two things:
      1. Sometimes when you select an action, you have to select a speaker. Only certain ones.
      2. Use the custom command to say things like "play music on speaker X" then that'll get it to come out of that speaker (for that action).
      Doesn't totally fix it all, but gets you down the line.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  Před rokem

      You can't do it through the Apple Home App. Just siri directly, as Siri connects to Shortcuts. And you're not saying the whole thing again because you will confuse Apple. So rename the shortcut (and what you need to trigger the shortcut).
      SO the shortcut gets named "Beddy Bye Light" and you say "Hey Siri, Beddy Bye Light".
      And the shortcut named Beddy Bye Light runs Google Assistant and inputs "Turn on the Bedroom Light"

    Google assistant issues on iOS devices is iOS problem. Google assistant commands can be far more complex verbally on google/android devices.
    Siri is super slow and clunky requiring you to program your own automation, because Siri is DUMB.
    Why won’t apple fix Siri now that google assistant is incorporating back end ai is confounding, we’re looking less and less cool with clunky commands or having to pull the phone out to break the mood when things are going well, rather than just ordering it to do what we want.
