Sapin sapin has its color depends on its flavor, white is for coconut, yellow/orange is for jackfruit and violet is for ube, sapin sapin from its word layered, its stickyness means it will stick together the family and sweet
a blessed an merry Christmas to the whole family, Chris! So nice to see 4 generations having a fun and yummy Christmas Filipino dessert feast! 👍 stay warm and safe! 😊😊😊
Pitchi pitchi if greeñ it's pandan flavored, shredded cheese could be used instead of coconut... For kutchinta , I prefer butter , tea instead of coffee...
Oh… a platter of rice cakes… what we call “kakanin” - root word “Kanin” = rice. That platter is just the tip of the numerous rice cake varieties in the Philippines… at least you had a taste of the rice cakes. Take note all of these are from rice… rice flour is used. You know that you can use pancake flour for puto? Just steam it instead of on the pan 😄 also we put coconut flakes or grated coconut on the sticky ones. Some of the sticky glutinous ones are not sweet, you could put sugar. Your granddaughter must have not like the texture, it’s normal with kids 😅
Hello Chris and family! And also cute dog Luca! I have 9 Pomeranians and a shihtzu. They all love puto and pichi-pichi 😁 you have a very nice family. Sticky desserts is a New Year's tradition as it supposedly makes family closer and stronger. Also, you can put shredded cheese on pichi-pichi.
Hello! We love our little Luka! 😊 You have quite the amazing family of dogs 😀 I’ll have to try pichi-pichi with shredded cheese! It sounds delicious! Happy New Year to you & your family 😁
Normally, sapin-sapin is composed of 3 layers: the bottom layer is colored yellow and has the flavor of ripe jackfruit; the middle layer is white and has the flavor of young coconut or just plain coconut milk; the topmost layer is violet in color and has the flavor of purple yam.

Merry Christmas! Btw sapin-sapin is from the word sapin meaning a sheet/cover sapin-sapin means layered sheets. Puto has 2 meanings, 1 refers to that round steamed sticky rice cake. 2 puto in Spanish and Filipino means male W#or3🤣. I personally like using it in a sentence that has double meaning. For example “Carlos I didn’t call you a puto, I asked if you would like a puto?puto!” I got that from a Filipino comedian Rex Navarette😂. Kutsinta is made with egg yolks and is also good with toasted coconuts.
Sapin sapin's main ingredient is sticky rice. It signifies that family members will "stick together" in the years to come.
