Jeremy Brett, such a handsome man with a marvellous voice, made the role of Holmes entirely his own.
THE epitome of Holmes, not equaled before, nor to be after; the greatest of the great - and with Edward Hardwicke (the best Watson ever), a timeless, matchless duo.
He's also quite tall and well built. I saw him in another movie and was surprised at his stature compared to the other actors

My favorite Watson, although they're very much alike, Brett is such a great actor.
Yup. He never played the fool in the role, unlike most others who cast Watson as a mere tag-along, with nothing to contribute. Moreover, Hardwicke LOOKED the part.
Excellent film, Jeremy Brett is inimitable as Holmes, with his elegance, insuociant manner and ironic witt. So much fun to watch 18th period films within an isolated village with suspicious villagers and an old detroyed mansion and it's family of, 'evil.' ❤❤❤❤Thank you for uploading. Xxx

This is Sherlock Holmes story - The Case of the Sussex Vampire.
This episode is very loosely based on The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire from The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. When aired I don't know. However, Jeremy Brett as usual is a wonderful Holmes. May he Rest in Peace.

The snippet is wrong, it is a sherlock holmes movie that is too fabricated in the name of screenplay, I mean the entire story has lost the Doyle touch. If I can ignore the facts of using Holmes and Doyle as baits the movie is entertaining.

Jeremy Brett was the best Holmes of all time. There'll never be a better.
I think it's a Homburg as worn by Winston Churchill. He's usually seen wearing a deerstalker.
@@geoffreycodnett6570 Yes, I do believe you're right. Thanks, much appreciated. One of the things I like about these Granada Holmeses is the hats - they didn't have him out and about in a deerstalker, like almost every other Holmes. In the earlier shows he's in a top hat and as time goes on, we enter the Edwardian period, hatwearing fashions became more casual and he's in this kind of thing. Watson's in a flat cap.
I've just watched the Silver Blaze episode on CZcams; he wears a deerstalker in that, but he's on the moors so it doesn't look odd.
My guess would be a trilby. Similar to the homburg, the trilby is English, like Holmes. The homburg is German.
The deerstalker was a movie invention, Usually top hat in original stories 😊
@@jayturner3397 I don't think that's correct, I'm sure I've seen Strand magazine illustrations where Holmes is wearing the deerstalker.
Jeremy Brett otherwise sleek and slim looks rather bloated here . However his performance remains as sharp as ever and his gaze riveting. Hardwicke is admirably restrained and a suitable companion to the flamboyant thespian. At 32.47 Holmes is practicing meditation.
