From Uttarkashi, you will then either board a Bus for Gangotri or can also find a shared taxi. There are several buses available on both these routes (Haridwar / Rishikesh to Uttarkashi and Uttarkashi to Gangotri) throughout the day so finding one will not be a problem at all.
Gangotri is a town and a Nagar Panchayat (municipality) in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is 99 km from Uttarkashi, the main district headquarter. It is a Hindu pilgrim town on the banks of the river Bhagirathi - the origin of the river Ganges. The town is located on the Greater Himalayan Range, at a height of 3,100 metres (10,200 ft). According to a popular Hindu legend, the goddess Ganga descended here when Shiva released the mighty river from the locks of his hair.

There is no steep road, but the hairpin band is there... and the road is narrow... you need to stop your vehicle to give pass for incoming vehicle. That's why there is a traffic jam in peak season .... all videos are uploaded on my channel. You can check it out... i hope this will help you... 🫰🏻👌🏻
