Animal crackers are such a tasty, crunchy snack-and it’s also so easy for me to zone out & eat them mindlessly. But after making this animal cracker recipe at home, I find I’m more inclined to slow down and appreciate what I’m eating, how it tastes, and the joy it brings me!
I’ll be frank: making homemade animal crackers is a process that requires some patience. But it can also be a creative & fun way to spend an afternoon in the kitchen. And those adorable iced animal cookies were so worth the effort for me!

4 oz butter, softened, (½ cup or 1 stick) ¼ cup granulated sugar, (50g) 1 egg 2 Tbsp honey ½ tsp vanilla ½ tsp salt ½ tsp baking soda ½ tsp cinnamon 1½ cups all-purpose flour, (180g)
60-65 homemade animal crackers 1 cup powdered sugar, divided, (120g)
1-2 Tbsp milk of choice 1 drop red food coloring, (for pink frosting) 2-3 Tbsp nonpareil sprinkles
These were so satisfying to make I still can't believe how adorable they turned out!! 😛

My favorite childhood snack is turon. It is a plantain banana sliced in half length-wise , optionally topped with jackfruit , place in a wrapper, and fried. Mom also adds a sugary glaze to the outside afterward. I skip that step.
