  • My heater became really weak, not very much heat. Flushing the heater core solved the problem.

    Great video! Easy job! Didn't cost me a penny. Just ran some water through and my heat is flowing again.

    Thank you sir! I’m gonna try it out and hopefully save $1000. Can’t believe the design on these heater cores 🙄

    Gonna have to try this before tearing the whole dash apart to replace a heater core hopefully it will save me alot

      That's what I was thinking. Then I decided the flushing the heater core was a lot easier and if it didn't work, I would only be out a few minutes work.

    Why not swapped hoses so the coolant runs the coolant diffent then as it was designed it can only improve as it breaks more gunk loose

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před rokem

      Because all that gunk will end up in the engine coolant system.

    Will this work for the 2007 to 2003 silverados too?

  • @ikesakesscottie4275
    @ikesakesscottie4275 Před 3 lety +1

    Would the hoses be located in the same place for a 2003 GMC Yukon? Thanks.

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před 3 lety

      I don't have a Yukon so I can't say for sure.

    • @yourface3154
      @yourface3154 Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, should definitely be in the same place, pop the hood and look on the passenger side of the firewall.

      Yes it would these both use the same LS motor

  • @kingrob64
    @kingrob64 Před 2 lety +1

    Would a clogged core cause the motor to overheat?

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před 2 lety

      It shouldn't unless its not just the core that's clogged

    Will this maybe fix the syrup smell coming from heater core or could it possibly be a heater core leak

  • @MrsBuddevil

    So right IN , left OUT... which one is the straight hose? And which one goes to the "Y" hose?

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před 2 lety

      I don't understand "Y" hose. There are no Y's

    • @justinvincent2471
      @justinvincent2471 Před rokem

      They y hose goes to the cold or left outlet

    • @justinvincent2471
      @justinvincent2471 Před rokem

      @@vendter I'm sure she's talking about the cold hose. It makes a y at the engine and the bigger portion of the hose goes to the reservoir

    should i do this if my heat blows cold all the time even when the motor is at normal operating temperature ? or does it sound like i have other issues ? and can you switch the hose around and flush it flowing in the way it circulates coolant ?

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před 3 lety +1

      Flushing the core is the easiest fix. Do not switch the hoses.

  • @Yomamalony
    @Yomamalony Před 3 lety +1

    Can I use air instead of water? (An air compressor or would it mess with or break something

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před 3 lety

      I would use water only. And low pressure at that. Anything above 10 psi could damage the core.

  • @orangecrushz28
    @orangecrushz28 Před 3 lety +2

    You reverse flow ?

    @Michael-bg1rg Před 3 lety +1

    Do you have a link for that hose adapter or a name?

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před 3 lety +2

      I hate to post links because they break pretty quickly. Search for "heater core flush kit" and you should come up with what you are looking for.

    What is that line with the blue going into it?

    • @vendter
      @vendter  Před 3 lety

      Its part of the air system bank 1. The original hose cracked and that is the replacement. This video shows bank 2 of that system. czcams.com/video/ZUPwTWGtUn8/video.html
