As of 2021, there are currently 30 stations along the Yamanote Line. It takes a little more than an hour to go around the entire loop.
This video showcases a "behind the train conductor" view along the inner circle track (counter-clockwise direction).
This is an original film recorded on October 21, 2021 around 3pm (before rush hour)

The Yamanote line jingles are still in my head even 4 years after visiting Tokyo
It’s about time to visit again and hear the jingles in person! 👍
Same bruh
Still stuck in ny head after visiting 4 months ago... Can't wait to go back next summer . 😭
Frfr
Same here. My wedding holiday was in 2019 all along Japan and i still they sounds in my mind...
The amount of trains on the other Yamanote Line track shows how consistent and accurate Japan's rail network is.
The throughput is insane. Imagine the capacity with literally 20 of these trains with like 12 carriages per hour.
I wouldn't say consistent, 'accident(actually suicide)' everyday...
It really is an amazing logistical and technological bit of engineering!
@@heeholee216true 🥲
Once you heard and experienced the sounds of the Yamanote line, they will stay in your mind forever ❤
It’s been almost 5 years since I visited Tokyo for the last time. And thanks to this video, I just had my ultimate ‘damn I need to go back’ moment 😄
💯 the last time I was in Tokyo was in 2011 and I remember every single jingle from this line it’s insane!
theres nothing like it
I even make the chime my ringtone
Im just from Canada. seriously the best 'trains' ive ridden have been a single track overground one, along with subways a few times in Toronto. This looks like bliss to ride and even experience. Also kudos for English included in the intercom too, Honto Arigatou to them for sure.
@@kimmyera174 our trains are pretty trash compared to the rest of the world. It's all freight in Canada except for VIA trains which aren't that great and too expensive to be used regularly. I suppose the commuter GO trains are our best ones in Toronto.

I haven’t been to Tokyo since 2014. Yamanote line gives me so much fond memories. My most recent trip to Japan, I spent most of my time in Kansai and Hiroshima prefecture, I went all the way down to Hakata but only for a day trip to eat Ramen and walk around the area. All trains in Japan are great but Tokyo Trains are next level amazing.
Thanks for sharing your stories about Japan, Jason! Train trips are always memorable here in Japan! Food in Hiroshima prefecture is amazing!
Yeah the Tokyo Metro lines connects literally everywhere in Tokyo. You can literally go anywhere you want in Tokyo in comfort.
It’s been one day since returning from Japan and I’m sitting here at work listening to this as I work. Mentally I’m still there 😭! Thank you for sharing this!!!
Thanks so much for watching our video (and listening to it!). We had hoped our videos could make people feel this way. We hope you can visit Japan once again in the future to experience it again!
オーストラリアからこんにちは. It has been almost 15 years since I last worked in Tokyo, and I am long overdue for a return trip. I used to travel from Shibuya to Shinagawa everyday. Watching the train arrive at Shibuya I suddenly remembered that I used to always get on Car 1 because that would leave me next to the escalator at the end of the platform when I arrived at Shinagawa ❤ どうもありがとうございます!
What a fantastic memory! Thank you so much for sharing! With the new renovations at a lot of stations here in Tokyo, including Shibuya recently, I wonder if Car 1 would still get you to the same escalator in Shinagawa?
It's very painful to watch this and to think that in this precise moment someone is listening to all these beloved sounds. I was last in Tokyo in 2016, I think, and I miss it so much. Unfortunately I can not take the time off to visit once again. My Tokyo, my favourite city in the world. Last time I stayed in Ueno, before that, 2 or 3 times in the 1990's, in Ikebukuro. Tears come to my eyes. I hope I can return in the not too distant future.
The 90s too, must have been a wonderful time!

I'm coming back to Tokyo later this year (was there last in 2017) and to listen to this and remember the ambiance (and somehow comforting?) feeling of being on the Yamanote Loop, this makes me so damn excited to go back. Interesting how in every other country I've been to public transit was a nightmare, but it was a dream/pleasure/nostalgic in Japan.
Thank you so much for watching our video and commenting! Since you posted this, did you get a chance to re-visit Tokyo again? We hope you enjoyed your stay!
@@audioodyssey3412 I sure did! I went last November and every train ride (as well as everything else in Japan) was a joy 🥰

When I was first getting used to visiting and getting around Tokyo, I spent so much time on the Yamanote. Eventually I figured out the other lines and could move around more efficiently, but this'll always be super nostalgic for me.
We're glad to have been a means of sparking your nostalgia! Thanks for sharing the memory! We appreciate it!
I used to live in Japan and hearing the sounds from the trains especially this one always gives me flashbacks. What impresses me the most is the precision from the drivers.
Those drivers are incredibly professional and precise, we agree! We're glad our video could bring you back to the train, in some sense! We hope you can do so again in the future!
I've been back home from Japan less than 2 days and I'm already looking up videos like these to listen to in the background while I work. 🥺 Ready to go back
We hope you can come back again soon to relive the memories! The yen is so weak right now, that it'd be a shame not to take advantage of it!

@@audioodyssey3412 Thanks guys, keep up the good work!!
That delay jingle at 12:52 is oddly satisfying
Ueno station jingle FTW!
@@audioodyssey3412UGH quite the opposite actually…that and Shin-Ōkubo have the most ear piercing jingles. I think my favorites are at Ōsaki.
Osaki jingle is quite nostalgic for us since we used to work there 🥲
Just came back from my first trip to Japan not too long ago mid-March. I rode the Yamanote line almost daily along with all the other lines around Tokyo. I never thought I would crave the ambiance of the Yamanote line. This makes me very happy to listen to, in a sad way - I miss Tokyo and the public transit. Thank you for uploading this!
Same! I wss there at the same time as you were. This train line was a nice highlight of my trip!
You guys have to go back there again
Thank you so much for sharing your memory! We hope you can re-visit and ride the Yamanote Line again in person!
This puts a smile on my face, listening to the station sounds and taking a ride around the yamanote line. I was in Shinagawa and remember hitting the 7/11 then going over to the station and down the stairs for the JY line. Gotanda was another favorite of mine. thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for watching and sharing your memories of those stations! I wonder if the stations have changed much presently, to when you remember them.
I haven't been able to make it back to Japan for several years, and I'm apparently suffering from Tokyo train system deprivation; I ended up watching the whole video. XD めっちゃ懐かしい。。。 Thank you so much for this.
That's amazing! We made this video for people like you! Thanks so much for watching the whole video! We hope you can visit Japan again soon!
The ambience sounds are so PERFECT I turned around several times because I thought they were real world sound. Omg. Extraordinary quality.

Something about the announcers voice is so nice and satisfying
We can easily go to sleep watching and listening to this video. 😂
If I managed to get a seat, I used to snooze a lot whenever I caught the trains in Tokyo. If I close my eyes I’m right back there. Thank you for this.
We usually fall asleep on trains as well, but somehow wake-up at the destination station! Thanks for sharing the memory! We appreciate it!
Omg I just started watching for a few minutes and I'm already having some pavlovian reaction to the station jingles. I miss living in Tokyo.
Thanks for watching and reacting to the sounds! Its exactly we wanted viewers (and listeners) to experience!
Watched this all the way through more than once. Takes me right back to Tokyo. Quite night in front of the TV with this on, no lights in the room and just relax.
Thank you so much for the comment and we're really happy that our video can resonate with you that way! We hope you can visit Tokyo again in the future to experience it again!
I was one of the many people who flooded into Japan this summer to visit. I stayed for about a week in a hostel not far from the uguisudani station, so I took this line a lot.
I already kinda miss Japan again. It was my first trip there, hopefully not my last. Next time I'll hopefully be a lot better at speaking Japanese...

@@audioodyssey3412 You're welcome, I loved your video
This is interesting to see how close the stations are to each other. You can actually see some of the stations already from the previous station, but when you have to walk that distance you realise it's not as close as it seems.
It's definitely a bit farther to walk from one station to the next, but Tokyo is definitely a walkable city, compared to other cities.
This is taking me back. Love Tokyo
Thank you for watching!
We hope you can visit Japan again one day soon!
Last time I've been in Tokyo was 2007, and I fondly remember all my train rides within Tokyo and Fuchu (where my office was that time). Hope to visit again Tokyo soon!!! Thanks for putting a video on the Yamanote Line. :)

@@audioodyssey3412 definitely! I'd love to go back to the place where there's lot of trains and that they run very efficiently! See you soon Tokyo! 😊
Its changed a bit since then. A lot more foreigners, Especially Indians, Holy crap are there a lot of Indian people in some areas. They also do announcements in a lot more languages than just English. A lot less paying with cash now as well. A lot of Americans streaming and talking to their cameras in some tourist areas.
Also they still have the woman's only train carriages except they're no longer legally enforceable since earlier this year the US forced Japan to change the law so that anyone can self id as a woman. So if you're a dude you can just barge into the woman's carriage and while people might get angry with you there's nothing they can do to remove you now. Thanks America!

In Akihabara, the message "延発 18:30" is displayed.
The driver is instructed to "depart at 18 minutes 30 seconds because the later train is delayed"
Wow, thanks! I didn’t notice that! Great eyes! 👀👍
or it is 6:30PM?
@@hkpuipui99 Good idea! But we recorded this video at 3pm. So, miyakoutsuno would be correct. 👍
Same with Ueno then? It flashes 26:10
”depart at 18 min 30 sec because the later train is delayed”
Is that means the driver is instructed to depart later than scheduled time to prevent a phenomenon like “bus bunching” ?

What an amazing memory for you! Thanks for sharing! Thanks as well for watching and supporting our video!
I love this! I love metro, cuz I live far away from our capital city where a metro is located, and I rarely visit it. We don't even have railways in our city!
But I remember when I've been in Moscow, and Yamanote line is very similar to our "Moscow Central Circle", which is actually not a metro line, but "on-ground" railway, but integrated into Moscow metro system.
But there's something special I noticed while listening to this video: there's a unique chime sound on each station (I'm not sure is it arrival sound or departure one), it adds so much vibe! And also this "arigatoo gozaimasu" :) Japan is so polite country! I wish I could visit it one day!
P. S. and also numbering the stations line "JY 12" is really helpful, some station names are hard to catch actually. It's a problem of Moscow metro: the names are just transliterated from Russian to English and would sound like "Novoslabotskaya" or "Ulitsa Tisacha Devyatsot Pyatogo Goda", ouch! It's just hard not just to catch, but even read! So yea, Tokio metro is so good at making things comfortable :)
Arigatoo gozaimasu for this video! :D
Thank you so much for your comment! We really appreciate you watching and listening to the video! That is a really interesting bit of information that you shared. We think the Japanese train system tries to make things as simple as possible, so many people can ride it, especially since Tokyo prepared for the 2020 Olympics.

¡Me encanta Miyajima!
Disfrute mucho mis 2 viajes a Japón. Y espero pronto se pueda volver como turista.
Esas son mis cosas favoritas también. Espero que los turistas puedan visitar Japón muy pronto.

5:59 love this!
That's a great jingle!
It's crazy to think you don't really need a car (not saying that you can't) but it really helps getting around everywhere for cheaper.
Having stations in every city like they do would do wonders for health and well-being in the states.
Sadly the U.S. has a crime crisis on its hands at the moment. 😞
The convenience of the train system and the relative cheapness over cars definitely helps with the overall quality of life.
