This is the first time I have seen a win for Sound get a standing ovation, and it was well deserved.
Top Gun Maverick did get it last year too
Arguably one of the most deserved Oscars ever given in its 96 year history. The sound WAS this movie
To me it should have been _The Zone of Interest_ for sound editing; _Oppenheimer_ for sound mixing. But in this one single category, _The Zone of Interest_ for sure.
I'd say Oppenheimer for editing, ZoE for mixing.
Other way around bud
@@aidanhartenstein6093 Study these techniques properly. (You too, sorenthefilmbrony)
@@Leonardoeditor37 I know what sound editing is, it’s the sound effects, foley, ADR, and music in a feature. Sound mixing is the levels in which the sounds are adjusted. The background sound in Zone of Interest is remarkably impactful, but I view that from more of a sound mixing standpoint because of how it’s used and layered in the film. The actual sounds themselves is what you’re judging from a sound editing standpoint, and the sound effects that were engineered in Oppenheimer is way more impressive than the actual sounds of the screams and gunshots in Zone of Interest. If I’m wrong, please tell me, but I’m pretty sure I’m right on about this one
@@aidanhartenstein6093 Take courses on these techniques or at least one of them. (Wait a minute, you guys are talking about your opinions, right?)
I am astonished on how they showcased the nominees this year. No voices. Just silence so the audience can hear how they were nominated.
Very creative…
What? Excuse me... Listen again what he says at 0:15
I love that they did it like the 2016 Oscars. I hope they keep doing it more like this without people talking over the sound
A great win!
Speaking of which, interesting to note that 2 of the crew members of NOPE (2022) (sound mixer Johnnie Burn and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema) both won their first Oscars this year.
Nope deserved to be nominated
This is redemption
@@manuelbello5806 Nope (2022) would have deserved to win.
Oppenheimer has amazing sound design and I was convinced it had this award in the bag, but then I watched the Zone of Interest, and that was phenomenal on another different level.
One of the better wins of the evening and can John Mulaney host someday, maybe for the 100th?
And yes, Field of Dreams was nominated for Best Picture.
I was rooting for Oppenheimer on this one but after the ceremony, I rewatched The Zone of Interest and I understood why it won the award. Even though you never see what goes on in the camp, you can hear the sounds of it.
Also, at least now I don’t have to worry about Kevin O’Connell losing an Oscar. However, it would be nice to see him win again someday.
We actually missed out on a history making moment as well. Had OPPENHEIMER won, one of the sound mixers (Willie Burton to be precise) would have become the first ever Black person in ANY category to win 3 Oscars.
The record for most wins by any Black person is currently 2, and this record is shared by Willie Burton, Russell Williams II (both sound mixers), costume designer Ruth Carter and actors Mahershala Ali and Denzel Washington.
I never thought of that. Hopefully that 3rd victory for a black person will come someday. I also hope to one day see a black person win Best Director.
hmm i know a lot of people saying Zone deserved it but i think Oppehnheimer was something else man.. let alone the detonation and when he is giving speech and the people stand up was enough to win sound
This was between Oppenheimer and The Zone of Interest, although Oppenheimer had a powerful sound, the sound of the Zone of Interest was used well as a fundamental part of the narrative, and the vision is not in person, the horror out there, but listen to it, and how it sounds disturbingly.
Well deserved :D
Probably one of most deserving wins of the year.
This statement is wrong. There are two options for a right one:
1 - Probably the most deserving win of the year
2 - Certainly one of the most deserving wins of the year
The most deserved win this year ❤
that Madame Web joke 🤣
and Oppenhiemer wasn't robbed, you fanboys can be truly insufferable 🙄
What is the name of the music in 2:35 ?
Oppenheimer had great sound like Zone of Interest, but I’d say that the latter deserves that award.
An all time win for sure, but can we talk about how they presented the nominees this year? It encapsulates the idea of the category perfectly
They should do this every year rather than having a voice over reading the nominees
Also, thank you for showing the clips as well!
I loved that they allowed us to hear the sound instead of speaking over the nominees
The zone of interest is an amazing film. The sound work on that film was spectacular. Im glad it has two well deserved oscars
👏👏👏
One of the best wins ever
Well deseverd
💥👍💥
They mentioned Field Of Dreams. Hope more baseball movies win Oscars
Oppenheimer should have won. I’m surprised Godzilla Minus One wasn’t nominated
If they make a movie about a family in North Korea living near a concentration camp would it be nominated for Best Sound with the sounds of the people there?
Oppenheimer was snubbed.
