The berserker that held the bridge was wounded by a man riding down the river in a barrel who stabbed him in the testicles with a spear. He still held out for awhile longer afterward. Berserkers were no joke!
Berserkers had great faith in their gods, and felt that their fate was already laid down by the Gods. Wearing Armor did not make any sense, because they felt if the god's determined that your time had come, no amount of armor would protect you from the gods. They did not fear death, because they looked forward to their admission into Valhalla.

@Papa Well, you are correct as there was a common language in the nordic countries, but as Danish spring out from this as well as Swedish and Norwegian I'm not wrong calling it Danish. It was the vikings from Denmark that was the first and primary raiders/settlers in England and the Danish vikings ruled a big part of England for almost 100 years. So, I took the freedom of calling it Danish, but yes, it was the old Nordic language spoken at that time.

The Berserkergang is the State some people enter in combat. It has been described as a by-product of adrenalin and endorphins flooding the system. All I know from personal experience is that you either get it, or you don't.

I don't exactly remember what time this was at, but lords, chiefs and other wealthy people would have a champion to fight for them when the time calls, these champions were called berserkers or bearskinned, because the lords would give these champions bearksin as a gift to show gratitude. If you google the word "berskerker" or "berserk" you would find it that this word would come in into the english language in the 19th century, it was used to describe ancient norse warriors who fought with uncontrolled ferocity. Most of the acts mentioned here is myth, but the shieldbiting is real, there is an account of a warrior who bit his shield while mounted on a horse, his opponent ran up to he horse kicked the bottom of the shield up into the warriors mouth and he fell of his horse in agony. There is also an account of a champion or a berserker in a duel who bit his shield, after the biting and howling / screaming was done, him and his foe fought, then they stopped and circled each other while talking, then the fighting began again, and rince and repeat until one of them was beaten, you see ancient combat was very tiring and if it was a duel and it was very likely that it would have small stops and intervals so the warriors could have a rest. All in all, a "Berserker" wasn't a Viking warrior but a champion used by chiefs, warlords, lords, small kings and other wealthy leaders, as I stated the term of a berserker viking or warrior came into place in the 19th century, so the vikings who fought with this brutality were just brave warriors and were in fact not berserkers, they just went berserk which in modern english means to become wild and frenzied and uncontrolled. In their era they were not called berserkers and it would be wrong to call them it today. A berserker is a warrior who fought for people and maybe wore bearskin, they did have rituals such as howling and shield biting, these were used to hype themselves up and maybe intimidate the opponent. Philippines had warriors similar to the traits of Berserkers. They're called Juramentados. They were muslim warriors from southern Philippines who were bound by an oath to be killed fighting against Christian invaders. They purposely wrap parts of their body tightly with cords to restrict blood flow and prevent too much blood loss from injuries before accomplishing their goal of killing as many invaders as possible. Due to their notoriety, the Americans thought of adding "stopping power" to their firepower thus the invetion of .45 colt pistol.
They also used psychedelic drugs during their rampages. It's one of the most fascinating stories for me, those man would receive a full drum of bullets from american revolvers and kept running and killing them with melee weapons. They knew they would die and just wanted to take as many as they could before bleeding out, warriors like no other

And the Tausog is known as the Philippines Spartans
They also used psychedelic drugs during their rampages. It's one of the most fascinating stories for me, those man would receive a full drum of bullets from american revolvers and kept running and killing them with melee weapons. They knew they would die and just wanted to take as many as they could before bleeding out, warriors like no other
Alhamdulillah
Legend
With this context, it makes sense why Hercules was a Berserker in Fate
Me seeing the Amon Amarth album cover in the thumbnail made me instantly click
Was just about to comment that noone acknowledged the thumbnail was from Amon Amarth lol
I love how they used Amon Amarth’s latest album cover as the thumbnail
I was looking for this comment.
Nice Thumbnail, Amon Amarth
Great video just a lot if the sources you bring up are by storytellers of the people they beat so there’s a big chance it was dramatized
I'm a simple man... I see an Amon Amarth album cover... I click
This is exactly what I become when my roommate drinks my last beer.
