If you have never cried, your eyes can't be so beautiful
If you have never been hurt, you can't feel the pain of others
    I will believe myself
    We'll never be alone
    You will believe yourself
    We are the only ones
If you have never failed, You can't be happy for success
If you have never loved, you can never feel the love from others

Great reaction ! If you go back and listen to the song again, BOTH Midori and Miyako were on acoustic guitars right at the beginning. They weren't harmonizing but layered off each other, which sounded really beautiful. Miyako's instrumental progression - acoustic guitar --> piano --> electric guitar --> piano --> electric guitar. How can you not love this amazing lady ? And yes, Asami wrote the lyrics for this track.

LOVEBITES is confirmed to perform at three international rock Festivals in 2024 :
    1. 'Rock Imperium Festival' (Cartagena, Spain, June 19 - 22, 2024)
    2. 'Hellfest Open Air' (Clisson, France, June 27 - 30, 2024)
More than 180 bands have already confirmed their participation in the Festival. LOVEBITES will perform on the 'Mainstage 01' ( June 28) . On the same stage ('Mainstage 01') will perform MEGADETH, METALLICA, MACHINE HEAD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD.
    3. 'ProgPowerUSA' (Atlanta, USA, September 4 - 7, 2024). AMORPHIS and LOVEBITES are named headliners of the third day of the Festival ( September 6)
There is a very high probability that in 2024 LOVEBITES will perform at other major Festivals and conduct a concert Tour in other countries.

The funny thing is that the Miyako you see on stage and the Miyako you see offstage are two entirely different people. When you see her in videos from her CZcams channel, she is sweet, funny, expressive and unpretentious - a very warm accessible person. I think she is so focused on stage because she's a perfectionist. Midori only uses 1 or 2 guitars during a concert, whereas Miyako uses 6 or 7. She has said that she buys a guitar based on how it looks; she said that she has a wood grain fetish. Then she works on the electronics. She changes pickups, capacitors, etc. until that guitar has the exact sound that she wants for that particular one. She then chooses the guitar that she thinks will sound the best for each song. She will also never release a song she has written until it exactly fits her vision for it. We know she wrote "Soldier Stands Solitarily" for the "Glory, Glory to the World" EP," but wasn't happy with it. So during lockdown, she worked to improve it. She made it much faster and in a much higher key (that's why she apologized to Asami and Haruna in the video). She was happy with the result, so it was put on the new album. I wonder how many other songs she has that haven't yet achieved her high standards. On stage, she can look bored or withdrawn, but she has stated in the past that she is the happiest when she's on stage. I think she's so focused because, in her perfectionist mind, it would simply be a mortal sin to make a mistake. There are times when she's playing, especially when she's in her Gary Moore mode, that you can see her absolutely lost in the music. I think she feels the music down to her very soul. I have nothing but the utmost respect for her - not only for her technical skills, but her unwavering high standards and professionalism. (Sorry for the long post) :)

Yes, we have heard about her off-stage personality from a few commenters. Yet when we react, we do so to what is in front of us, so we don't get the playful, funny Miyako, but we do get the totally awesome, hyper-focused Miyako, which we love and appreciate so much! She truly is a phenom.

Such a beautiful song! Asami is amazing here (she is amazing every song, of course). The emotion she conveys, and the power and depth in her deeper tones are impressive. What a singer! Nothing new here, but worth calling out. Miyako's solo was amazing too, as was Midori's end. They're all amazing. My favorite band. A really good one I recommend, especially after this one, is Empty Daydream czcams.com/video/BkPxcnsRjlk/video.html Like Epilogue here being a sort of throwback to 70s and 80s power ballads (and an amazing one), Empty Daydream feels a bit different for them. It's almost an 80s rock song, and would have been one of the best 80s songs had it come out then. Also features great writing and lyrics, and Asami's vocals really shine. Plus: vocal harmonies!

And if you check Miyako's own channel ( www.youtube.com/@officialMIYAKO ) you'll see she's actually very personable. The stoic appearance is likely a result of a) classical training and b) the fact that the Japanese tend to frown on huge displays of emotion, especially from classical music performers.

0ne of the 3 epic "E" songs ( Empty Daydream and Edge of the World ). Midori really shows that she so much more than a shred machine and Miyoka isn't the only one to make their instruments weep. That said, when Miyako jumps off the acoustic guitar to the piano and into her Gary Moore solo it just grabs your heart strings. She is self-taught and Gary was one of her big influences. Asami got to show off that gorgeous bluesy vocals. You get into a slow funk only to have that shaken loose with the usual LB presentation. Live there is nothing that these musicians can not play. 2024 is looking like the world tour that Covid derailed them from in 2020. European summer festivals even a stop in the US and hopefully South America. Can't wait to see who goes crazier at their shiws Brazil or Argentina!!! Great reaction as always. Thanks for your reaction. 'Epilogue' (lyrics - Asami / music - Asami, Mao) a song from the second studio Album of LOVEBITES 'Clockwork Immortality' (December 2018). The song starts with 2 acoustic guitars. Midori plays the main part of an acoustic guitar. Miyako also plays an acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song. Then Miyako switches to keyboards.
There is a song on the 'Clockwork Immortality' Album that the Reactors very very rarely check out. It's 'The Final Collision' (lyrics - Miho / music - Miho, Mao). Great song ! I consider 'The Final Collision' a diamond 💎hidden in the dark. This one the song reflects Miho's personal experiences, including those related to the death of her father in August 2018 (a huge tragedy in Miho's life).
'The Final Collision' was performed live at concerts (it is featured on the Life Album 'Invitation to the Theater - Live in Tokyo 2019', January 2020), but unfortunately there is no video from the concerts.
In the concert version, before performing 'The Final Collision', Miyako plays a fragment from 'Piano Concerto №.2 Op.18' by the famous Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff on the piano. Sergei Rachmaninoff is one of Miyako's favorite composers . I highly advise you to check out the audio of S. Rachmanninoff &'The Final Collision'.
You can find this audio in a YT search:

Excuse me😊 Me too like the Live version of 'Rachmaninoff & The Final Collision'🤘 But don't you confuse 'The Final Collision' with 'Journey to the Other Side' about your comment regarding Miho? 'The Final Collision' is simply about a story of broke up of man & woman, I think. When Miho later commented on 'Dancing with the Devil'(although lyrics by asami & midori), she said that 'Dancing with the Devil' is woman's side and 'The Final Collision' is man's side of the same couple.

    • @GrayFox14
      @GrayFox14 Před 6 měsíci

@@lovezhangyan No, I don't confuse these two songs. 🤗You are right. Miho dedicated 'Journey to the Otherside' to her deceased father, whom she loved. The lyrics of this song include the following phrases:
      - 'Across the River Styx' - In ancient Greek mythology, the Styx is a river in the underworld of the God of Death, Hades. Across the River Styx, Charon transported the souls of the dead from the World of the Living to the World of Shadows by boat.
      - 'Counting to forty-nine' - Miho's father was 49 years old.
      - 'You've saved the lives of countless souls. Except your very own life ' - Miho's father was a medical worker.
I didn't claim that Miho dedicated 'The Final Collision' to her father. In my comment I wrote the following: "This one the song reflects Miho's personal experiences, INCLUDING THOSE related to the death of her father in August 2018 (a huge tragedy in Miho's life)". What I meant was that Miho's father's death affected her greatly.
'Journey to the Otherside' and 'The Final Collision' (from the Album 'Clockwork Immortality', December, 2018) reflect Miho's general psychological state in 2018. Although these songs are dedicated to different events in Miho's life. In the Album 'Journey to the Otherside' and 'The Final Collision' are located next to each other (#7 and #8). And it's very symbolic.
I'll try to explain. To do this, I need to clarify some details . Аlthough this is Miho’s personal life and I would not like to raise this topic. But to answer your question, I will have to tell you a little ...
On June 11, 2018, LOVEBITES (at that time a little-known band from Japan among Western metal fans) received the GOLDEN GODS Award from Metal Hammer (London, UK). As holders of the GOLDEN GODS, LOVEBITES received the opportunity to perform at the largest European heavy music festivals. For LOVEBITES, this was a unique chance to show themselves to a Western audience, to promote themselves and their music on the European music market. The second time such an opportunity for LOVEBITES might not appear.
Miho, as the founder and leader of the band, understands this very well. LOVEBITES is Miho's "dream band". She (as the leader of the band) bears the main responsibility (to other members of the band, the Label, etc.) for the success of LOVEBITES. This is business.
      Miho's father died on August 15, 2018.
In August 2018, LOVEBITES were in Europe.
      - On August 4, 2018, LOVEBITES performs at Wacken Open Air (Germany). They became the first Japanese all-female metal band to perform at Wacken Open Air in the festival's 29 years (in 2018).
      - On August 10, 2018 LOVEBITES performs at Bloodstock Open Air (UK). They perform on the Main Stage of the festival. For example, JUDAS PRIEST also performed on the Main Stage in 2018 (there are photos of Miho and Haruna with Rob Halford, Ian Hill, etc. )
Now imagine the state Miho was in when she returned to Japan from Europe. What did she feel ... Instead of being close to her father during the last weeks of his life ... Etc.
I was in a similar situation. And I can understand what Miho was going through. It's very difficult psychologically. I understand the state she was in for the next three years (2018-2021). This affected Miho, affected her songs (particularly 'Journey to the Otherside' and 'The Final Collision'), her behavior, etc. During the concert that LOVEBITES played on January 27, 2019, Miho begins to cry (DVD/Blu-ray 'Daughters of the Dawn - Live in Tokyo', July, 2019)
Mikha remained in this state until August 17, 2021, when she officially announced her departure from the band. It was enough to read the tweet she wrote on August 15, 2021 to understand her (+ what Miho wrote on social networks in previous years).
Sorry for the long text. I hope I have answered your questions.

Thank you for your reply and sharing your profound knowledge and information😊 I'm not against your comment "...the song reflects Miho's personal experiences...".Almost songs have some aspects like that. Indeed, Miho clearly answered like that about the lyrics of 'The Final Collision' in an interview. I just disagree to your opinion that Miho's father's death affected 'The Final Collision'.
First of all, why do you know 'The Final Collision' was WRITTEN AFTER HER FATHER'S DEATH? It's 1000% obvious about 'Journy to the Otherside', almost fans know the tragedy behind the song. But we're talking about the song 'The Final Collision'. Where did you get the information that Miho wrote 'The Final Collision' after she came back to Japan? You seem to think as if all production and songwriting for the album 'Clockwork Immortality' had started after their return to Japan from Europe (after Miho's father's death). They released the album on 5th December of the exact year. In such short term? All within only three months?
Why not songwriting? For example, 'Empty Daydream' of the same album had already written before they went to Europe. Miyako said several times," 'Empty Daydream' had already existed when we released EP 'Battle Against Damnation'(6th June,2018), but we thought it as more suitable for full album." And Miho said clearly in her comment about the album, '...We completed 'Clockwork Immortality', touring overseas during the production time....'.
Moreover, in the interview of a magazine, Miho explained around her writing process, " I've finished 'The Final Collision' earlier time, but about other songs, I wrote them after Miyako finished all her songs, thinking we need for some different type of the songs."
Of course, "other songs" are 'M.D.O.' and 'Journy to the Otherside'. So, it's clear that Miho wrote 'The Final Collision' first, then she wrote 'M.D.O.' and 'Journey to the Otherside' around the same time after her tragedy. I think that 'The Final Collision' was written before they came back to Japan. Maybe during the tours, or more before, not sure.
According to your theory, 'M.D.O.' is more affected by her tragedy than 'The Final Collision'. Miho wrote 3 songs for the album, 'M.D.O.', 'Journey to the Otherside', 'The Final Collision', and all 3 songs are located next to each other, (#6#7#8) Then you say it's symbolic?
As you know, 'M.D.O.' is the most exciting song for both band members and fans. If the song were so affected by Miho's tragedy, (of course the members realize it in that case) do you think asami incite the audience every time they play the song?
I don't deny that Miho's tragedy affected not only her but all the members and making process of the album, considering the theme 'immortality', 'reincarnation'. But I don't like to think everything as related to it.
About lyrics, Miho answered to a magazine's interview just after the album released,
" ...'M.D.O.' was inspired by 'Hinotori(Firebird/Pheonix)' by Osamu Tezuka (a Japanese most famous legendary comic writer and anime creator)", "...'Journy to the Otherside' is about my family...",
"...'The Final Collision' is about trouble at that time...."
As I mentioned first, Miho later clearly commented on 'The Final Collision' that the song is about the broke up of a couple. She also says, " I translated the lyrics into Japanese for the CD booklet, and it was written with woman's words but actually I wanted to express some sissy man's feelings in that song.", ".... if you regard ' The Final Collision' as man's voice, then 'Dancing with the Devil' can be heard as the answer song from a woman of the same couple."
As far as I know, only 'Break the Wall' and 'Journey to the Otherside' are the songs Miho clearly commented that she wrote about her father.
Yet still there is a possibility that Miho wrote the song after the tragedy. But I don't think Miho wrote 'a love affair song' just after her father's death before she wrote 'Journy to the Otherside'.
Do you know how the last conversation between Miho and her father was at the night she came back from UK? And he passed away just two days after that night. You can easily imagine her feelings around those days. It's more natural to think that 'Journey to the Otherside' was the first song Miho wrote after her tragedy. 'The Final Collision' should have already written before that.
By the way you misunderstood the meaning of the lyrics
      "- 'Counting to forty-nine' - Miho's father was 49 years old"
I don't know his age and where you got that information, maybe it's true about it, but 'forty-nine' of the lyric means '49 days'. In Japan, there's a thought that people start their 49 days' journey to the other side after their death. Miho also clearly explains around that in her comment of the song. It's from Buddhism thought. We say 'HIGAN/彼岸' for 'the other side' (like heaven for Christians).
I'm not good at English, so probably, I couldn't have translated my thought, the band members words and commentary accurately. But I hope you understand what I meant.

      - I said somewhere that the song 'The Final Collision' is about the death of Miho's father ? Sorry, you did not understand the meaning of what I wrote in my comments. I didn't claim that. I argued that the death of her father greatly affected Miho and her entire future life. The 'Final Collision' is a song about Miho's personal suffering during that time. Personally, I think that if the father was alive, then Miho would not have left LOVEBITES (but that's just my opinion)
      - Fans from Japan claimed that Miho's father was 49 years old. I have no reason not to trust them.
      - In November 2018, LOVEBITES performed several concerts in Europe.

    🙌🙏Great reaction! Appreciative, and sensitive.
When Metal artists want to show up with a ballad, they better contribute something _substantial_ . Lovebites here deliver excellence again. Therefore, "permission granted". 😁
This is one of those Lovebites songs that move me to tears each time I listen to it. And is music not about emotions in first line...?
Amazing performance by all of them, as always. And a clear hommage to *Gary Moore* , in my opinion. Concerning the guitar parts, and especially Midori's finish is a huge statement, an exclamation mark, in my opinion.

Have you ever sat in a 1968 Pontiac GTO with 350 hp under the hood, and the driver is only going 25mph, and you can feel all that power in reserve, just waiting to explode, and you almost get the shakes? That's how watching this group do this song makes me feel.
There have been lots of bands who could play hard rock and metal, but writing and performing a truly beautiful ballad is completely different thing, and few bands can pass the test. Lovebites are able to surprise us because they have studied many genres of music and know how to use all the tools to tell a story.

    LOVEBITES - Epilogue lyrics:
If you have never cried, your eyes can’t be so beautiful
If you have never been hurt, you can’t feel the pain of others
    I will believe myself
    We’ll never be alone
    You will believe yourself
    We are the only ones
If you have never failed, you cannot be happy for success
If you have never loved, you cannot feel the love from others
    I will believe myself
    We’ll never be alone
    You will believe yourself
We are the only ones, forever…
    SOLO: both / miyako
    Just the way you are
    Just the way you are
Be the one you wanna be, with your own melody
    Just the way you are

    Sing the song you love

Hi Itai & Asaf, that was an excellent analysis of this stellar Lovebites performance, greatly appreciated.
As others have mentioned, this is one of the three "E songs", which collectively are a Lovebites Masterclass. You've now done this one and Edge of the World, one to go!
Empty Daydream was the track that first got me hooked, then obsessed with this band, lol!
It starts with a little love letter to Rachmaninoff by Miyako. Then something special happens which you don't hear in many Lovebites songs - no spoilers.
If they do come to Melbourne, they'd better play in Sydney! It looks like they mainly have Festival bookings so far, so Good Things next year may be an outside possibility. They've previously atttacted some big names for a flying visit to Aus, including Sabaton & Electric Callboy. I missed Sabaton as I was away at the time, dammit.
    Cheers.

I (Itai) caught Electric Callboy a couple of night ago in Melbourne and Hanabie the night before. Both were AWESOME! Now I'm a little more hopeful that Lovebites might get here as well sometimes in 2024... f they get to Melbourne, they'll surely get to Sydney as well 🙂

Look again boys.... it was both Midori AND Miyako on acoustic guitars! In fact Miyako jumps between three different instruments during this song. I'm surprised they didn't give her a brush and ask her to sweep the stage while she was at it.

This song really helped me to appreciate Asamis voice more. The first song i heared from them was "When destinys align" and i of course was blown aways by the guitars, but coming from symphonic metal, the vocals over the power metal just weren't that great for me. A problem that also a lot other people had i noticed. And then somebody said to me : check out the "e-songs" .. and yeah that really were more my style, but after that i also started to love the power metal of them more and more, and today they are just at #1 of my list.

    Hi from France:
For me, it's one of the best LOVEBITES songs (that's just my opinion, that doesn't mean it's the band's best song).
But, I put a downside... In fact, during Miyako's first solo, Midori stands back in order to give Miyako all the space. Whereas when Midori in the second part takes control,
    1) Miyako forgets herself and barely has to pull herself together to let Midori do her solo. Listen carefully and you will hear this little mistake, but as she is an excellent musician she corrects herself instantly. And that’s the pleasure of live!!!
And 2) you will also notice that during Midori's solo, Miyako remains very forward, masking Midori's sound a little.
And 3) Midori's final outro (not written on the studio version) is simply splendid.
As for Miyako's attitude on stage, she was, before becoming a guitarist, a concert performer and I believe that on stage she maintains a bit of this concentrated attitude of classical concert artists. It's not a bad thing, it's Miyako...
    Enjoy the Wolfpack...
(hoping that google trad doesn't betray my words too much...)
