Subwoofers efficiency is rated by its out put at 1 watt. Subwoofers can range from 84db-92db. Larger 15,18 tend to be on the higher side. You gain 3db (theoretical) every time the power doubles . So say this sub is 90db sensitivity at 1 watt. 93db at 2 watt, 96db at 4watt, 99db at 8watt, 102db at 16watt ect. A normal conversation is below 100db (80-90 I believe, can't remember exactly). So it's easy to see that a few watts would get some output. Not to mention the square area of that cone is huge. So I few watts could easily move quite a bit of air. Lol. My 2 cents. Still love the video, this is something I would do for hell of it.

So a company might say it has a 90 db sensitivity and then in the fine print it will say some bs like “90 db @2.4 watts” it’s hilarious

It doesn't take much, it's still just a copper coil in the subwoofer that's why the charge 4 can power it. Some high efficiency subwoofers can get up to 100 dB at 1 Watt

In theory, if you hook up a charge 4 to 4x Danley Sound Labs BC218, giving them 5W each, you would acheive 129DB @ 1m, which is sufficient for a small outdoors festival
woule be interesting to try this out at max volume with dsp off on the speaker, as you definitely don't have to worry burning the woofer in this case 💀
Curious about the amount of distortion (clipping) your sub is seeing ,even at a low level you could be damaging the coil by causing it to heat up and you wouldn't know unless you hit the jbl with a Oscope

its the speaker doing the JOB not the JBL even the PAM8403 3w amplifier can power this but it cannot shake the house since the JBL is around 30w u can get something like tpa3110 GUYS IM NOT A NERD
Jbl charge 4 amplifier is only 30w rms so if you Try to push the subwoofer to loud the amplifier from the jbl will not be able to handle such demmand and will sound realy bad

@@reinis8862 it doesn't take that much to rattle walls a little bit indoors. if that sub seen full power that pan would probably fall down lol I got two 15s that are probably seeing between 30-75watts shared but they are meant for low power, they sit across the room but you can feel it all the way through my couch and on the counter tops in the other room

The cone area for that sub combined with that enclosure is why the pan vibrates.
I did this with a Doss box XL because it has a dedicated low pass subwoofer signal instead of a full range
