- The story of Belle Starr is nothing short of a special one. Last year, for th first time I watched as this bison cow was saddened and confused from the loss of baby. We don't know why or how it passed. Over a year later, and a long pregnancy, Belle Starr is having a new calf and we were able to catch the special moment.

I’m a human Labor & Delivery nurse. 26 years L&D, Mother/Baby… countless (probably 1000’s) of deliveries… it is NEVER lost on me the sheer wonder and miracle of it all… and here I am silently cheering her and that precious baby on!! I’m crying!! What an incredibly lucky moment and an incredibly lucky family! Thank you Dusty for sharing this with us!! YAY BELLE STAR!!!

I started watching Cross Timbers Bison 2020 with a retired Rancher 84 yrs old that I was caregiver for… we started our day watching everyday you posted… it connected him to his days on the farm and the love he had for his animals …you gave him a quality of life that otherwise was over and that he missed immensely…so much in his life that he was unable to do physically but his mind still yearned for…Mr. Leon Koehn of Circle K Ranch passed Sept 2023 watching until the end daily… he said to me often “this young man knows what he doing” thank you for sharing your Bison ranching life experiences and know that this is a gift in ways that are larger than you may even know.

I feel the exact same way as Mr. Koehn...I know exactly what he meant. My daddy was a farmer also and I grew up on a farm. Always hated the chores associated with farming lol. But that was an awesome time to grow up in! I will forever miss being with family, learning about life and watching spring bringing back renewed sense of life! Now I watch these CZcamsrs wishing I could go back to the much simpler time lol. I may not be that old chronologically but my health won't allow me to live that way again! So I live vicariously through people like Dusty, Daniel and Chad. Bless everyone and btw, that's one gorgeous red dog Dusty!! Thank you for sharing

Actually this show was my lifeline when I was recovering from a terrible case of covid at age 71.
Wasn't raised as a rancher but had horses for a while in my 40s.
I loved the family and the first bison(Dunbar, Eleanor ❤) so much and I'm still watching 2 years later.
Birthing is tough for any female, human or animal. Oh Praise the Lord, she did it and little red dog is alive. What an amazing thing to witness.
difficult if we're lucky. but it's mostly Dangerous, guys often don't understand us females literally put our lives on the line to bring life into the world and sometimes WE LOOSE and sometimes both mother and baby loose. sadly Many guys really need to learn to understand that tiny basic fact of life. (not all but most)
Other people elsewhere on the internet are arguing and I just watched a precious bison baby take its first breath. ❤
Dusty, those little nudges… That’s God giving you that nudge for you to see this amazing moment and His way of saying well done my son for taking care of the animals I have put on this earth. ❤️😊

I'm a 79 year old guy who learned the sacredness of life as a kid on a dairy farm in Ohio. This video brings tears to my eyes as I remember birthing several calves being my job to catch them so they didn't fall on the floor as their mother was standing up through the entire birth. Thank you for Dusty for sharing this miracle of life.
Me also. I'm 73 and birthed a lot of different animals from cows to kittens. This remind me of those days!

My hubby was cracking up because I was in tears when Belle Star's baby finally got to it's feet ❤ Last year, shortly before Belle Star lost her baby, one of our donkeys lost her little colt. It was so emotional, not just the initial loss, but then watching Willo mourne that loss. Then watching Belle Star go thru the same thing... Not as picturesque as the bison birth in Disney's "Living Desert" documentary, but every bit as awesome! A nice anodyne to the passing of a beloved horse in "Follow the Herd".
Watching from rural South Africa, this is the most awsome footage of a Bison giving birth. I feel it was a rare privilege to have been able to see it. Thank you Dusty for sharing it with us.
