The reason why I love BL2 so much is for the great experience through new game runs. End game is fun, but it isn't the reason I love Borderlands. I like gearing up my characters and powering up from scratch. All releases after Borderlands 2 have lacked good replayability for new game runs. Hopefully BL4 gets it right. DEDICATED FARMING!!!

I want to see the story be better, but gearbox were also the ones that wrote New Tales as far as I know, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Hopefully they deliver on that war they've been teasing us for the last decade.
Borderlands It's kinda like Fallout New Vegas for me, the OG's that made the previous games are gone. We'll probably never get a Borderlands like Bl2 again. I mean, if they prove me wrong, then awesome, but I've sipped to much ultra-cope juice for to many dev teams all to be let down anyway.
If we get the difficulty and writing of BL2, gameplay improvements from 3, and legendary drop rates somewhere between the 2, there’s a decent opportunity that BL4 will be the best game in the series, I doubt it will actually go that way though they will find a way to ruin it
I would want the legendary drop rate to be a little better than BL2, but rather closer to BL2 than BL3. Just please, a good story and fun classes with different gameplay, everything else you've got down now gearbox.
Yea 100%. Although the writing needs to be good for today's standards. BL2's writing was great and hilarious for its time period, but wouldn't hold up today, imo. They just need to modernize it while keeping dialogue clever yet succinct.
Also bring back weapons grinder from the pre sequel.. considering its elpis thing... Bring back pearlescent, and bring back evolved enemy raidboss that spawn in the regular map and not inside of an arena.. i missed them
I took it as Elpis was moving toward a cloaked/shielded Eridian planet/homeworld, and it ended up breaking that shield which then sparks some sort of conflict against the Eridians. Potentially the Great War that was teased from the Watcher in TPS.
If this is an Eridian planet then I am almost certain the point of the forcefield was to cloak the planet and hide from the Destroyer. That is the path these Eridians chose instead of the path chosen by the rest of their race to give their lifes to lock the Destroyer away.
I love that this trailer feels way more serious than the stuff we’ve gotten in the past. Hopefully this game leans more into a darker tone while not losing too much of the humor
The humor was waaay too overdone in bl3 but it is part of the franchise’s identity. Keeping jokes far between will be the best option I think, or maybe have some dry humor sprinkled along the way instead of the in your face approach they did with the last game

Considering past games have taken villain inspiration from real life (BL3 was themed around streamers having cult followings and being able to manipulate their followers to do whatever they want), I wouldnt be surprised if AI specifically is a big theme in BL4. As for a multiverse, I hope not. Its overplayed recently and it just opens up too much at once. Hopefully Elpis is just ripping through space, time or both. Like Joltz said, theres not much to go on so I'll reserve judgement until game info is revealed.
0:52 that's not a settlement. It's residual effects from the damage to the surface of Elpis due to the Dahl corporation over-mining which cracked the surface causing lava floods. The event was called "The Crackening." And Dahl repeatedly used Hyperion station to blast the surface repeatedly with it. Finding out later the source was an eye from the Destroyer.
That'd be the purple stuff on the surface of Elpis. The Eridium that came from 'the crackening'. Slightly down and to the left of the big ol' purple crack is what appears to be a town of some sort. Concordia cannot possibly be the ONLY town on Elpis.

Yeah, we need to give them as long as possible for it to be good. Any sign of rushed development will inevitably show, and we'll then end up seeing all of the game's post launch, considering of fixes and patches which would set back any additional content and dlc

Given it's size, it should've been bigger than what we see at the end of 3, plus it wasn't guaranteed to be dead either, but 3s story was wonky so they could've just added that in there to give you hope too.
bdl 2, the watcher mentions a war, bdl 3 felt more like a build up to certain events in a way, with the different sirens dying, mention of a 7th siren, etc, etc, hopefully and maybe this game will expand and explain all of that(and gets a story way better than 3 lol)
Yeah after the catastrophic story miss that was 3 and now the movie, I really do not have faith in the story for this one. That was the main reason to put down 3 before even finishing it, and it’s why I’m likely waiting for reviews here
@@thewizard1 I always ignore the dialog and story of Borderlands games as any reasonable Borderlands player should. Playing Borderlands for the story is like watching an adult film for the story. It's there but it's not the reason you watch it.
My two takeaways: 1.) Less than 5 years since the release of 3. I could wait until 2026, honestly. 2.) No cell-shading in the graphics for the teaser? This better be just for the cinematics. Cannot have a Borderlands game without the iconic art style - and the lack of that causing the game to be harder to run.

In the first few seconds of the trailer you can see a little orange streak alongside elpis which I assume is lilith that phases away in a burst of purple @ 0:18 I think they retconned her dying/ have something else in store for her lol
my theory is that it is not interdimensional but that this is where eridians went hiding and they put up a barrier and lillith phase casting elpis too close to the barrier destroying it and eridians come back to the picture now
If we're getting parallel universes, I'd love to see a Jack that turns out to be an actual hero that's not a psychopath. His main struggle would be gaining the trust of others and learning about the main universe's version of Jack.

Calling it. The writters just gave up and made the plot go into another multiverse where Jack won in BL2 just as an excuse to bring him back. Lilith will likely become some sort of crimson raider rebellion leader that recruits 4 new vault hunters. It sounds so much like a Post-Endgame marvel adaptation but at this point i wouldn't be surprised.
My theory is that Lilith warped the Vault Key, Elpis, straight to the Eridian homeworld or at least whats been hiding in space. A civilization so advanced would pretty easily be able to create a hologram of some sort that hides their planet with the rest of the universe and that's what was breaking
Looks like the moon Elpis is crashing into a robotic (possibly hidden eridian) planet that’s surrounded by a Dyson sphere that’s cloaking the planet. Is it possible we might play as Lilith again or other Elpis residents we saw in TPS

I don't think it's alternate universes, I think that it was some kind of cloaking device that was hiding a planet (and possibly more) in empty unknown space, I think Lilith might have been thinking "I need to get this as far away as possible" and it caused the moon to go DEEP into unknown space where am advanced civilization hid their planet in empty void and with elpis being a moon would be able to crash through the cloaking
What if it isn't another universe, but actually a planet hidden away by a shield or something? It would be kind of funny, someone trying to hide away and being left alone, just for a moon to teleport out of nowhere and nearly crash into the planet.
I’m only okay with the possibility of multiverse/multi-dimension shenanigans if it means they undo the worst mistake in the Borderlands franchise. Replacing Maya with Ava. Honestly, I don’t even need the multiverse excuse. If they just came out and said “hey guys we know that sucked so we’re just retconning it wholesale” I’d be fine with that too.
The entirety of Elpis being trapped in an unknown dimension opens up a lot of cool opportunities. My guess is that the four playable characters will be people who were living on Elpis and are now trying to protect it from a sttange new threat. Possible return of characters from Pre Sequel like Pickle.
Maybe elpis was sort of teleported back to the place that created it, also like an automatic “return to sender” function. It crashes into a barrier to the world that made the artificial moon.
BL4 will be an instant purchase for me, if it is confirmed Ava gets horribly tortured and killed in the first 5 minutes of the game. just sweep the crud and dust under the rug.
tbh I feel like the “rip in time” is actually a cloak or barrier that the eridians made to hide. Maybe not the eridians but some species from that time, maybe a rival?
watching this trailer made me realize how a Borderlands movie would make sense. You know with a great script that stays true to the BL universe, wirh a nice cast that fit perfectly with the characters, and with great CGI. i hope maybe one day we'll get that movie, the franchise really deserve it.
So my random thoughts but; Lillith teleports Elpis FAR away from Pandora but accidentally crashes into a barrier, potentially made by a siren or Eridian, made to hide/protect a planet (presumably because it has a vault and its contents are extremely deadly). Lillith accidentally doing this causes a chain of events that lead to a, or the "great war" (because Sirens can alter the set course of history)
The destroyer is a parasite from another dimension, we've known this since Bl1 so inter-planar travel this shouldn't that surprising of a direction, and yet still didn't cross my mind until you brought it up
Lilith just pissed off an entire advanced alien civilization. This might be the Great War we were talking about. We still need closure on the seventh siren, the vault of the Time Keeper, and that stupid retcon crystal New Tales introduced. Also please make Pickle and Ava badasses just to spite everyone who hates them lmao.

Yeah, we need to give them as long as possible for it to be good. Any sign of rushed development will inevitably show, and we'll then end up seeing all of the game's post launch, considering of fixes and patches which would set back any additional content and dlc

@@commanderblack5045 Yes. The only part of these visuals of Elpis that is new is the fact that the crack is glowing purple. Everything else, the crack itself, all the lights, all of that was already there.

Given it's size, it should've been bigger than what we see at the end of 3, plus it wasn't guaranteed to be dead either, but 3s story was wonky so they could've just added that in there to give you hope too.
bdl 2, the watcher mentions a war, bdl 3 felt more like a build up to certain events in a way, with the different sirens dying, mention of a 7th siren, etc, etc, hopefully and maybe this game will expand and explain all of that(and gets a story way better than 3 lol)

@@thewizard1 I always ignore the dialog and story of Borderlands games as any reasonable Borderlands player should. Playing Borderlands for the story is like watching an adult film for the story. It's there but it's not the reason you watch it.
My two takeaways:
1.) Less than 5 years since the release of 3. I could wait until 2026, honestly.
2.) No cell-shading in the graphics for the teaser? This better be just for the cinematics. Cannot have a Borderlands game without the iconic art style - and the lack of that causing the game to be harder to run.
Was upset at almost everything that came out in the past few years for borderlands, but simultaneously freaks out and gets really excited for new trailer lmao

The story has never been the strongsuit in borderlands but i hope borderlands 4 gets it right this time, i also hope the looting element is more like BL2, i hate how i run into a legendary every second in bl3.
In the first few seconds of the trailer you can see a little orange streak alongside elpis which I assume is lilith that phases away in a burst of purple @ 0:18 I think they retconned her dying/ have something else in store for her lol

my theory is that it is not interdimensional but that this is where eridians went hiding and they put up a barrier and lillith phase casting elpis too close to the barrier destroying it and eridians come back to the picture now
Honestly, this is probably the only theory about what happened that i am able to believe until it is confirmed true or false.
If we're getting parallel universes, I'd love to see a Jack that turns out to be an actual hero that's not a psychopath. His main struggle would be gaining the trust of others and learning about the main universe's version of Jack.
Parallel universes could allow them to bring back characters while also retconning the crystal

this trailer felt like watching someone accidentally throw their baseball into the grumpy neighbors backyard.
Watch jack come back as a good guy, if he never went mad after the events of the presequel, if lilith never engrained the vault symbol into his face.
friendly reminder jack was already a bad guy before pre sequel, and had already trapped his daughter and forced her to make his plans work throughout bl1
And engraine Jacks psyche into the symbol as well , the Elpis Vault was there to also contain memories and events of the future and past

So the eridians didn’t actually go extinct trying to lock up the destroyer but they escaped into another dimension

The writters just gave up and made the plot go into another multiverse where Jack won in BL2 just as an excuse to bring him back. Lilith will likely become some sort of crimson raider rebellion leader that recruits 4 new vault hunters.
It sounds so much like a Post-Endgame marvel adaptation but at this point i wouldn't be surprised.
It's possible that eridians might do something to lilith making her a boss fight.

This is what I thought, Lilith could have been taken Elpis to a different reality or something rather than teleporting it.
My theory is that Lilith warped the Vault Key, Elpis, straight to the Eridian homeworld or at least whats been hiding in space. A civilization so advanced would pretty easily be able to create a hologram of some sort that hides their planet with the rest of the universe and that's what was breaking
The face makes me think of The Sentinel from Pre-Sequel for some reason.
Looks like the moon Elpis is crashing into a robotic (possibly hidden eridian) planet that’s surrounded by a Dyson sphere that’s cloaking the planet. Is it possible we might play as Lilith again or other Elpis residents we saw in TPS

I don't think it's alternate universes, I think that it was some kind of cloaking device that was hiding a planet (and possibly more) in empty unknown space, I think Lilith might have been thinking "I need to get this as far away as possible" and it caused the moon to go DEEP into unknown space where am advanced civilization hid their planet in empty void and with elpis being a moon would be able to crash through the cloaking
What if it isn't another universe, but actually a planet hidden away by a shield or something? It would be kind of funny, someone trying to hide away and being left alone, just for a moon to teleport out of nowhere and nearly crash into the planet.
I really hope this goes back to the pre sequel plot line of that big war that they mentioned but never happened in borderlands 3

the plot seems to be the war that the pre sequel teased makes sense, an advanced hostile race of aliens.
The entirety of Elpis being trapped in an unknown dimension opens up a lot of cool opportunities. My guess is that the four playable characters will be people who were living on Elpis and are now trying to protect it from a sttange new threat. Possible return of characters from Pre Sequel like Pickle.
Maybe elpis was sort of teleported back to the place that created it, also like an automatic “return to sender” function. It crashes into a barrier to the world that made the artificial moon.

BL4 will be an instant purchase for me, if it is confirmed Ava gets horribly tortured and killed in the first 5 minutes of the game. just sweep the crud and dust under the rug.

watching this trailer made me realize how a Borderlands movie would make sense. You know with a great script that stays true to the BL universe, wirh a nice cast that fit perfectly with the characters, and with great CGI. i hope maybe one day we'll get that movie, the franchise really deserve it.

And that hand is definitely an eridian.
So my random thoughts but;
Lillith teleports Elpis FAR away from Pandora but accidentally crashes into a barrier, potentially made by a siren or Eridian, made to hide/protect a planet (presumably because it has a vault and its contents are extremely deadly). Lillith accidentally doing this causes a chain of events that lead to a, or the "great war" (because Sirens can alter the set course of history)
The eridian text translates to: “hey pal, it’s me Roland, I got us milkshakes”
The destroyer is a parasite from another dimension, we've known this since Bl1 so inter-planar travel this shouldn't that surprising of a direction, and yet still didn't cross my mind until you brought it up
Lilith just pissed off an entire advanced alien civilization. This might be the Great War we were talking about. We still need closure on the seventh siren, the vault of the Time Keeper, and that stupid retcon crystal New Tales introduced.
Also please make Pickle and Ava badasses just to spite everyone who hates them lmao.
