Full VOD of Contain: czcams.com/video/kYKeGcnHZWQ/video.html
This looks promising, and I hope they do something with it.
Interesting concept, that's about it.
I feel like this should have been a free demo to get feedback, asking for 30$ is a bit crazy if your game is W.I.P
That’s the point of EA though? A developer properly utilizing the EA program should NOT have a finished product when it first hits the Steam store.
@@ShadowDreamer100it should also not have a full price of an indie title if its EA
I think if you don’t have the disposable income to throw $30 at an indie dev you should refrain from doing so. Early access is a gamble at best, there are very few exceptions to this rule. You’re taking a flyer with these things, it’s time people accepted that. If it looks generic, it probably is.
@@VogricJon It sounds like it's already discounted from what full price will end up being.
I get that it's not finished and not worth the current price, but it IS an indie game that's going through EA. No EA game should be feature complete when it first hits Steam's storefront, otherwise it really didn't need to be in EA in the first place. Anyone getting the game right now is getting it trusting/believing in/wants to support the studio making the product. It's the point of EA, not to be a free demo product but to give players who like the idea and progress of the game so far to buy in early at a (usually) discounted price so the devs have an easier time of financially supporting the work they do up until full release.
If you don't like the state it's in, don't buy the product. Wait until it's in it's 1.0 state. It's why you should watch videos like BigFry's here to determine if it's worth it before buying.
@@TheFi1thyCasual Exactly. It's in EA for a reason. You want to put in with the game and studio before release. It's still a risk of not getting to the finish line but you do it because you want to knowing you may be pissing the money away.
The AI seems to be suffering from the Ready or Not syndrome. Wallbanging and unrealistic reaction times? Feels like every SWAT style simulator is doing that. There's simulation difficulty and then there's just flat out AI aimbots
Its crazy how all those newer FPS games fail miserably at making a decent NPC AI when games like STALKER and F.E.A.R have done it outstandingly decades ago. I mean I know there's a difference in the number of developers and experience, but come on now. These new games are losing to other games who are DECADES old by now, they should be ashamed.
Tbf, wall banging and unpredictable reaction times IS realistic.
Even the Original SWAT 4 had really good AI if you ask me, it always felt organic and rarely do did I feel it was a bot.
@@SevKast_7yeah, with some mods stalker ai feels like you're fighting real people, not ai
@@Mr.LeoNov I was talking about vanilla AI, not modded STALKER AI. I didn't even know there were mods to improve the game's AI. Are you talking about Anomaly/Gamma or the main STALKER games?
I have to say it: FINALLY a game where your weapon light is actually useful and realistically bright. So sick WML in games that barely work and feel like you had a candle on your gun
Its really a sad situation they seemed very passionate but let their impatience win.
Now all those 2 years has been wasted for nothing if they dont recover from it
why ? it is not that bad
Doesn't help when Idiot CZcamsrs are biased as fuck and instead of trying to help out they just complain and say it's bad.
if it was a free demo no one would be mad but charging money for this is a joke bud@@oldisgoldmentality4667
At least now they have funding to continue to improve and develop. It's EA, this is the point. Invest in developers/games with potential.
@@oldisgoldmentality4667 Not good either lmfao. Why play this when I can play any other game like it that did better?
IMHO on map design, and I hope the devs read comments and sees this, if the player character can SEE it, they should be able to go to it. If you don't want players to enter a house, put a fence around the house, because if I can SEE a clear path, I'm not expecting an invisible wall stopping me from going to it.
Linear maps in a large environment should use actual barriers you can see to block a player. there really isn't any excuse for invisible walls in 2024
PREACH MY BROTHER
On the money 🤝
Devs stop putting THAT red dot in games. Thanks
Absolutely agree. I hate seeing these shitty $50 Amazon optics in so many games.
@@TheBulap it gets old. You’d think someone making a realistic shooter would do some amount of research
And what’s with the mags attached on the drop pouch? Wouldn’t that hurt slapping in that area? 😂
@@DavidConantwe like to reach low around here
People like me would get really confused if a tactical shooter *didn't* have basic red dots.
"I think i see an anomaly, or is it an early access game? i cant tell!"....LMAO!!! That is the best thing ive heard all day.
😂😂😂
no way, they made a sequel to the day before
This is nothing like the day before lol what are you on about?
The Day After
@@RedBeardMortis he's on about parroting and botting a trend for the sake of social media validation (something NPCs feed on for some reason). Any kind of negative situation with a game and bots immediately chime in with the TBD comments. Don't let it be a game that hasn't released yet. Any kind of delay, alpha problems, etc and BOOM, here comes the "oh this reminds of TBD".
@@EvilAnomalyTBD: The before day?
@@EvilAnomaly i’m just saying this because both games look bland and uninteresting lol
Was here for this stream, the devs seemed passionate and they had cool ideas but EA for $30 was not the play unfortunately.
“I think I see an anomaly. Or is it an early access game” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This feels like a weapon customization sim with missions tacked on, instead of the other way around.
Might sound like small nitpicks, but these little things are the foundation of game development.
You're a player who sees stairs, you expect to be able to walk up them. As a dev, you need to either make the stairs walkable or block them off. Pick one.
If you're going to have the player walk down a street, don't let them go behind a house for no reason just to be blocked off. Gotta think about these things and put yourself in the shoes of a player when designing levels.
I’m glad somebody understands basic game design better than the developers. Not only that, but there seems to be a lack of objective direction in each map, like there’s no clear path to follow which leads to players getting around to places they aren’t meant to explore, or them not being rewarded for exploring. Also what’s the objective? Just going around, shooting randomly placed guys on a map? Sounds just like every poorly made asset flip game you’ve seen a thousand times already. Game needs better direction
I love your comment about how developers need to put themselves in the shoes of a player. I believe that is the main problem with many indie developers (definitely not all, though) and even some bigger studios: they don't seem to test their games. When seeing the crapfest that is much of the games people like BigFry try out, one has to wonder whether the developers have even played their game themselves, because if they had, they wouldn't be able to say it's ready for sale.
As an experienced software developer and novice game developer myself, I am astounded by the seemingly lack of testing and quality control. Testing is very important, regardless of the type of product one is creating. Word processors need testing, and so do first-person tactical shooters.
@@SilverGeFer I've dabbled in level design and game development. But really, the knowledge just comes from playing games for 20+ years. I don't understand why developers either don't see these things or don't think they actually matter.
@@oliver_twistor Often times, especially in bigger companies, the bean counters deem that QA is the most disposable team AND they'd rather have the game ship with problems than not ship at all. So we get bad & buggy games.
The devs can often be aware of the issues because of QA, but are directed to prioritize new content or projects. So fixing issues takes forever.. or just never happens.
It's sad. All about making money the fastest.
@@Tatman2TheResQ Yeah, I've been there, not with game development, but with software development, where the product owner is more concerned by new and shiny features than to increase quality in existing features. I'm not blaming the developers. They have often very little say regarding what should be done and in what time.
In some aspects this game has a foundation, in other aspects it's an absolute goddamn mess.
The weapons firing systems were pretty good but not great, animations were top tier, customization was impressive.
The creative lead on the team even had a great interview and admitted things weren't up to par but didn't really say much of substance when it comes to making the game better.
Great video fry!
tbh i didn't play it but it doesn't seem that bad, i mean it has good graphics and the tactics working, isn't the video here just picky ?
@@oldisgoldmentality4667 not at all! I don't think it's picky. Fry is just doing what fry does best.
Well, that is literally why EA is there...
Cmon man i was excited for this... I hope things get better 😢
"At least we gave everyone a 10% discount" -someone at SinginGiant (studio and publisher behind this game)
"generic red dot", visible beam aiming in harsh sunlight, keymod anything, not c-clamping the gat for better control - so speed, very drag )
Aside from all the other stuff, c-clamping has got to be the biggest turnoff for a "tacticool" shooter of any kind, especially first-person shooters where it obscures the last third of the gun in a game where attention (or even asset store-bought attention) was put into the guns and their animations.
80s/90s or early GWOT - sure, almost no one outside race gun ppl knew better. Modern/future - looks off if a supposedly top-tier troop won't clamp that gun for optimal control.
@@visual7504 It's less an issue of not looking realistic or believable than it is I'd personally rather look at the gun over a first-person forearm obscuring a third of the gun. It's just a personal peeve of mine; I think it looks awful to c-clamp a gun in a video game and doesn't let me fully appreciate the work the 3D artists put into the model and textures.
You can just remake this in Arma 3 and it would play much better
I had it on my wishlist but canceled it when I saw how negative the reviews were. 😅
Bro that fart noise took me out 😂
I'm really hoping this game is good eventually. SCP MTF sim is exactly what I want. Idk if we will see another any time soon.
SCP 5k is another project that’s currently in development and in EA
"Hey you! You're finally awake" took me tf out! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 After over a year break, I'm 3-days deep in an unholy Skyrim modding bender! The mods have truly gone outta control in the best way!!!
Had this on my wishlist ever since I first learned about Contain. I took it off my wishlist the moment I saw the Steam reviews. It always saddens me when a game I'm interested doesn't turn out well. Maybe it'll get better over time, but there's always that chance the devs may abandon it(which I hope they don't, I like the idea of an SCP inspired tactical shooter.
theres already an scp inspired tactical shooter, its called SCP: 5K
@@MrNyto_ I'm aware of SCP: 5K, I meant inspired as in it takes cues from SCP while creating its own original setting.
@@GmodCaboose56 ah gotcha, my bad 👍
@@MrNyto_ It's all good.
Watched the stream and the interview live. And oh boy wasn’t expecting you to blast them so hard in the beginning
Tracking through walls, that's some Shroud AI
💀💀💀💀💀
i really hope your Transience game come out really good ! So you can walk the talk Fry.
I’d rather scrap the project if it’s bad, than ask anyone for money for a trash experience. Know that lol
@@BigfryTV Yes that we know from all your videos. Thats why we excited for the gaming experience Transience will offer. Auto-buy that. Haha
@@BigfryTV Your game is going to get double bad reviews. Everyone is watching you.
@@DelttaGaming slow down, it's not out yet.
@@BigfryTVya just know that if this game shit you will be the biggest laugh stock in the gamer world since you sit and bash games all day your game better be triple a good
Now that Unreal 5 is out, all the $10 shovelware on Steam is going to look BEAUTIFUL
with the description of the game at the beginning of the video i was thinking"this sounds a lot like ready or not huh" but it was something else apparently
Oh my god it's even worse too because not only are the humvees the same, they're at the SAME GOD DAMN ANGLE. They literally just copy/pasted it, dragged it, and called it a day. Didn't even bother rotating it to make it seem different.
I can barely _contain_ my contempt.
Why does it feel like most *trash* games are overpriced and great games are decently priced, nowadays? Usually it's the opposite, well, sometimes.
I don't really have a great example, but BattleBit for example is fucking amazing and it's not overpriced or too cheap.
They priced it above the Early Access level and found out that people wont pay that for a half done game that may or may not ever release.
Why are the guns in the gun builder thing so f-ing shiny?! They look like those plastic mold things they had at like the zoo in the 90’s where you put in 4 quarters and it melts plastic into an elephant or some shit.
so there are some cool ideas and above-average premium assets used
Not super familiar with the genre of this but as someone who is thinking about making games a lot of the stuff you point out is really helpful because it shows you what lazy devs will miss when putting a game together.
I thought you were talking about Ready or Not for the first 30 seconds. Had me confused lol
It's a shame because that gun/vest customization looks exactly what I want every game to have.
$19.99 would still be a stretch as is. $14.99 Would have been acceptable as is. $9.99 would have keep price out of the question all together. With it being known that it would jump to $39.99 at full release... if it ever made the improvements and journey with out dying. Also as we all know, if its UE5 always put vfx(effects) and shadows on high/med if you want decent performance at 4k. Epic/ultra for those two settings drop the fps 30-40 going from high to epic no matter you gpu/cpu.
The fart sound 😂
Palworld is a fun looking game I saw some smaller youtubers play recently. they definitely use assets but instead of feeling like a lazy rip-off, they use it to save time and focus their efforts on other parts of the game that needed to work well for the game to be good.
launching an early access at 30 is dumb.
You honestly could have been describing Deadside with that intro
You can clearly see that a lot of work went into this game. However the entry bar for a good-looking game is just even higher nowadays.
red dot in the very front is more meant for point and shoot in IRL, very tight CQB.
Deumn those assets get better and better looking every month 🤩 Just sad that they are not used as a comparison/reference, but actual product.
The game is really bad right now, but not irredeemable. There's some good ideas and a decent foundation here.
The A.I. should be a priority to fix, followed by gunplay tweaks. After that, go back to map design and thoroughly study other games for what makes a good map. The current maps are a mix of "what asset can we use to fill up the empty area" and map design basics at face value.
They have a chance to redeem it, but in this day and age, a lot of people that got burnt won't give them a second chance.
Those marketplace assets though...
Seems like there's potential at least.
But this seems like a free alpha demo at best. Definitely would've been a better move to either wait or release it at a much steeper discount for a while.
Like this genuinely seems like an early playtest build, not a product demo, let alone a purchasable product.
I'll contain myself from buying this game.
It's such a shame because I've always wanted a tactical shooter game that is about going against something paranormal. Maybe someday
Its so easy to spot the games that just uses a engine, buys assets and call it a game. Its like if I was to spawn a bunch of shit in gmod and call it a game lmao
Have you seen thw destruction on direct contact? Game looks pretty solid would love to see what you think about it.
I think good enemy AI should be library to use by other developers since so many devs struggle to program a good AI. Maybe its a market gap haha
Contain lookin pretty good 😊
Aww, bummer... I was really looking forward to play it :(
The day before 2.0 here we go !
This game looks like it could be a-lot of fun with just a little more work. Its looks good, I like the idea of the anomalies taking over and the gun customization. But the AI needs an overhaul and the levels need redesigning.
I feel like games these days focus so heavily on graphics that there just isnt enough content
You know, I would be more surprised if the game was actually good. It’s crazy how there’s more disappointing games then actual good games
I thought this was gonna be the front
It looks like it has a great base! Just needs some more work and i see it becoming successful
i feel like a lot of devs start making very ambitious games without the experience required, i'm learning how to make games myself and for the ai or other issues there are some easy fixes but for some reason they havent implemented them or polished even tho it releases in early access i just dont get it
I agree. One of the most difficult aspects of project management (which ultimately, game development boils down to) is to maintain the proper scope, given one's experience as well as resources (money and time).
Whenever you are going to do a super realistic tactical shooter and then put supernatural monsters or aliens or whatever I roll my eyes and go play something else.
Actually impressive how hiring a 3D artist can make such a big difference. Even though the animations, gameplay or VFX could seem alright, it still feels like a cheap EA steam scam game because of how the assets don't match the enviroment at all.
if only this video was talking about Ready or not
still better than harshdoorstop
I haven’t played it in almost a year. Definitely want to go back and see how things are going
WHAT IS YOUR INTRO AND OUTRO MUSIC?
5:45 had me laughing so hard i cried a little
kinda reminds me of the Stalker trilogy and Stalker Anomaly/Gamma AI and i like that
Honestly, this game looks like fun. Not $30 worth, but fun. I think it'll be good in a year or two.
Didn’t surprise they make this shitstorm.
Hope Helldivers 2 will be a next well-optimized game to hit those dev’s face like this one.
It shows that game development is more than just ‘development’ in the sense of code and tech.
You need creatives who know map design, player experience, immersion etc
bigfrytv confirmed to have smellonivsion
Yea I was looking forward to this game and saw the negative reviews lol
I dont know why im watching a bigfry stream at 1:30 am
GO TO BED!!!!!
seems like a bit of in the control world as for the enemies and black floating cubes weird dead enemy animation....
ill give this one to them this is a WIP should it be 30$ no but does it look like every problem with current version is solvable in due time YES so ill say that it has a lot of potential if they put some work into it and dont take reviews for granted
I hate games where you are not able to jump except bulletstorm.
Stalkov Call of Marketplace
I think the term "Early Access" has got to be one of the biggest turn-offs in gaming these days.
It means you have to do the info gathering on the project. If you don’t think Steam has bad products on its storefront then you aren’t even doing the bare minimum of due diligence of being an informed consumer.
played 14 minutes before asking for a refund
It's that bad? Oof
better than direct contact
You ever play Dark and Darker? Good little early access gem
55 FPS on a 4080. Nice🤮
19:00 wow a take that I finally can agree with. pricing \_is_ subjective. folks out there spending $50 to a $100k on one game. then you have other folks complaining for the sake of complaining.
great stuff. keep this type of logic up 👍
Fry, man, if you can see a fart...it might not be a fart 🤣
It’s got potential
I actually really like this concept, we have so few paranormal and horror-based shooters. But yes, the ai is broke as shit and it's jank.
There's hope, but it needs better devs.
30$ damn
The game has potential. But when you think about it… EVERY game has potential, including those that are already failed… and the day before… Yeah…
Noooooo I was looking forward to this game man. That sucks
What a shame! The guns and customization are super cool!!
No way the Chinese knockoff of Beautiful Light. I hope this doesn’t imply anything about the current state of game development and the tactical shooter genre!
lol how come you throw them under the buss dude haha after the live stream
They wouldn't last a year, first it was meant to be a quick buck, second, when they see the feedback they'll just jump to the next one. This one is done!
i have contain, i wouldnt recommend it by any means but i think there is promise. the movement is almost really good, not far from tarkov. the AI is rough but at least most of the time they try to rush you or move to cover. asking $30 is just crazy tho. $15 maybe but even then... if they had a "forge" mode where players can make their own level and share them it would really help out something like that
i watch this under a week a go of the video has come out and none of those anymore are in the game play and bugs
bought this game. i'm happy with everything else but ai needs to chill down and there's gotta be a way to defuse aggressive anomalies. they're lasering the walls acording to your position and once you step out you're dead or wounded. i got them to kill their friend too which was confusing but the best counter to this matter is to throw a stun grenade behind corner. for me the subway map which is titled as too late was fun to play solo. i completed first task which was capturing anomaly but didn't make it to the end because enemy just popped behind corner and shot me. enemy should have some delay to shoot gun after turning as well as some time to spot player depending on the distance. i like the challenge in this game but if ai behaves like some terminator with see-through vision it's impossible to complete the mission alone. at least they have road map now and it seems they're gonna improve ai and add AI teammates in june. i really wish they keep their promise and do what roadmap shows 🙏
