- In this video Ritesh Lakhi analysis the rise and fall of Ex MP Simranjit Singh Mann the radical Akali leader who rose up to lead the bandwagon of Punjab MPs in the 1989 parliamentary elections in the country. However, the elected MPs from Punjab and the central government led by prime minister VP Singh failed to thrash out the contentious issues surrounding Punjab affairs, a remarkable opportunity for resolution of the issues between Punjab and the union government was again lost. Ritesh Lakhi traces back the beginnings of political acts by Simranjit Singh Mann right from his days in IPS service as he went about openly criticising the powers and governments of the day as Giani Zail Singh was elevated to the position of Union Home Minister in the Indira Gandhi Minister. As Simranjit Singh Mann resigned from IPS Services after the Operation Blue Star, he remained underground for several months before being caught while trying to cross India Nepal Border only to find himself be elected as an MP after almost over five years in incarceration.

Very informative video. But please go into more detail about the issue regarding Mann helping Bhindranwala group get arms licenses. This is a very important issue that needs more discussion. Why was an IPS officer giving licenses to those who were considered a potential threat by the Indian state? What basis/reasoning did he have for giving them these licenses? And why was that officer allowed to stay an officer after doing so? These are very key issues that link to some theories which claim that people like Mann were purposely allowed to do this because the government of India wanted fuel the threat in order to use it as an election issue. Likewise, there are a lot of red flags regarding General Shabeg Singh. Any genuine account of those times requires an in depth discussion of these issues.

@@RiteshLakhiUnplugged your videos are interesting but I feel there is a lot to do in editing. A lot of times scene cut is not seemless with the next scene but with a glitch. Sometimes inadvertently wrong info is given but it should be edited in the final uploaded video. For example the video on 92 boycott of elections mentions presence of 9 army divisions in Punjab which is completely untrue and I have put a logical rebuttal on that video.
I assume it would be inadvertent genuine mistake.
What I feel is that you are trying too hard in each video by giving a balanced view. The fact is that history never has a balanced view. It is written by victors and sung by loosers. In my opinion, a better way would be to divide the same topic into three views, the Central Govt, the Punjab Polity and the extremists views then let the ball the court of the viewers to decide who is write and wrong rather than putting the effort yourself and getting bashed from all sides without any fault of yours.
