I first watched this film round a mates on a comedown lol it hit me like a brick to the soul. Heartbreaking, disturbing, blackly comic at times, just an incredible film. Perfect soundtrack, perfect performances. Highly recommended.

Watched an interview with Paddy about the making of the film and how they came up with scenarios of events that had happened growing up.. and how people had not paid for what they'd done. This people were still going around free, this movie speaks to redressing the balance and seeking revenge for the past... what's so powerful is the fact Richard recognizes that he's now turned into the monster by the actions of others and what they did to his brother. To still have the integrity to understand right from wrong at this point is incredibly powerful " you were supposed to be a monster" in one of the last things Richard says before the knife is plunged into him...

both are cracking movies and meadows has a very good ear as well as he can match the visuals and music perfectly to capture the mood. Dead man's shoes for me is the best out of the two but its close. Keep up the good work fella
This film had been on my list of films to find for a few years, Finally saw it and wish I had sooner. Moved me as so few films do now. Soundtrack brilliants, especially this song and that's how I got here. It's amazing the films and music I could well die without ever seeing or hearing
It was filmed in Matlock Derbyshire UK and the end scene was riber castle, the end credits as the camera flew over the castle then flys over lumsdale. .
I agree with this comment personally when watching the film.... I think his revenge is DRIVEN by his guilt. Guilt for being just slightly embarassed by his brother and needing to get away for a while and have his own life. Went to see the live rendition/score of the film for Warp 10 at Magna not long ago. Amazing! Met some of the cast but Meadows was always surrounded by lad-fans :o) Great night

I dont think there is another film that i have seen that brings in so many raw emotions while watching this, and after watching this film i sat down thinking about it and could not get what i had seen out of my head for a while and what had happened this has to show how great the film is, when you question yourself about what you would have done THIS FILM REALLY DOES CHANGE A PERSONS OUTLOOK ON LIFE. not sure what the film comes under but to me it's not entertainment i think the only thing i would say is LIFE CHANGING.
