Q: What emulator & game version were used?
A: JPC-RR 11.8-rc2 / Prince of Persia 1.0
Q: Why is the movement so jittery sometimes?
A: Sound emulation issues make it jitter a little bit sometimes. This has no effect on the gameplay.
Q: How was this developed?
The route itself has been in development for decades-long by the PoP speedrunning. The movement optimization was obtained using Jaffar (github.com/SergioMartin86/jaf.... - Hry

Absolutely astounding :D It’s hilarious how this beats my own time from several years ago despite going through three more levels! Those skips in the second dungeon setting are amazing, no more trudging through the whole of levels 7, 8 and 9

Wow this is really amazing! The use of legal but ultra-optimized moves + bug exploiting (teleporting through walls, jump off into farther away screens) is tremendous! Having watched all the Doom/Quake Speed runs, most of the fights reminded me of the pacifist runs.

lol, the game doesn't remember whether you picked the sword or not. Level 2 already starts you with the sword regardless.

How come he is running through the spikes
The is a specific frame during the jumping animation where the separation between the kid's feet is enough to gap the width of the trap. The same thing is observed in level 11 where he can run over a hole in the ground

You can actually run through spikes if they have already sprang. Although it actually might be a little more complex then that. There are a lot of strange cases where things act differently then how you would assume.

How he gets to the other side of the guards so easily?
Thats a normal game mechanic, you can switch sides if you get too close to the guard while in fight mode
Nothing a human would be able to do.
@@micke7 as a matter of fact, most of these tricks have been reproduced by human speedrunners. Check speedrun.com/pop1
@@micke7 Literally every Prince of Persia speedrunner does this. It's not even particularly hard for a frame perfect trick because Prince of Persia runs at such a low framerate compared to most other games.

Most of these things are not possible with original game. Its a touched (modified) version of the game. My best achievement in original game is finishing it in 32 min left (within 28 minutes). Escaping from some kind of guards are possible but not useful in time and sometimes make more trouble than killing them :D

Plenty of these things are hard enough that nobody gets all of them first try, which is why, well, TAS. But yeah, it's all _possible_ in the original game.
