Remembering Skylanders (Toys to Life)

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure was a successful game released by Activision in 2011 that incorporated a new play style of incorporating toys and video games. However, following the success of the first game, Activision continued to release back-to-back Skylanders games for six years, which led to a decline in the quality of the games and eventually the downfall of the franchise. Additionally, the emergence of Disney's own toy-to-life game, Disney Infinity, also contributed to the decline of the Skylanders franchise as Disney's characters were already familiar to consumers. This competition between Skylanders and Disney Infinity sparked a boom in the toy-to-life market, with other companies such as Nintendo and Lego also releasing their own toy-to-life games, leading to over-saturation in the market.

I wonder where all of those left over ones that were left on the shelves went after they stopped making the games. I remember that there used to be a whole shelf dedicated to these things in at least Every supermarket and game store

For about 4-5 years after skylanders stopped getting new games I’d see packaged figures end up in dollarama, dollar tree and dollar general so I’d assume all the old stock went to liquidation and stores like dollar tree grabbed them all up because that’s how most of those stores used to get there stock

I still play these games and i recently completed my entire swapper collection wich was my childhood dream. The skylanders community is still pretty large

Skylanders Spyros Adventure and Giants were my life, friends would come over and we would compare figures, it was awesome. Eventually they all lost interest due to there being a game every year, but I played em all up until Superchargers. I also played Infinity 1 and Dimensions. They were okay. Also! This vid rocks.

I enjoyed spyros adventure and swap force my 2 favorite of the series I actually enjoyed all 6 games i missed to good old days came out when I was 3 years old in 2011 ended in when I was 8 great times 😢

I loved Swap Force as a Child however Trap Team was my favourite as it was so unique and I would spend Hours playing it, by the time Superchargers came out it was clear to see the Developers had ran out of ideas!

2023 and i´m still trying to find the minimum of skylanders for every game, trap team and imaginators are the worst, nowadays you still need to sell your kidneys in order to get what you need to unlock all inside the levels.
