Thanks for posting as this regatta coverage was a treat. I agree with dap that listening to Buddy Melges was infinitely more exciting and insightful than anything Gary Jobson has to say. I find Peter Montgomery annoying in the recent Cup events but here he was fine. Connor is a strange dude - he was at our club during the Etchell Worlds in the 90s and he was extraordinarily difficult to have a conversation with, as he is very socially awkward. This event was all about his personal redemption and he was one of the finest helmsman in the history of the sport - you can see it here when comparing the onboard camera shots of Dennis vs. Murray on the wheel. Finally, this was the end of an era, as these crew members were all amateurs doing it for the love of the sport, whereas today, they are all hired hands. As much as find the foiling sailing exciting, this sailing is pure and I would love to see a modern 12 meter Cup regatta - these boats are amazing in many respects, powerful, elegant, simple, yet complex at the same time.

That reminds me of Wind (1992), starring Matthew Modine, Jennifer Grey of Dirty Dancing fame and Cliff Robertson. It's a great sports drama movie from TriStar Pictures and American Zoetrope.
I think the race before was a lot…a lot tacking for position.

This was a shellacking. Seems to me the Kook hull was just not up to the task. Very nice to see this footage again; even better not to have to listen to Gary "this is a real footrace" (not!) Jobson. Buddy Melges is just so much more acute a commentator than Jobson. And the pre-race conventional wisdom that Kook would take to S&S in the lighter going, and downwind as well, was quite a bit off. Nice collective effort by the entire American side, all syndicates contributing.
