    The biggest lesson I learned as a homeschool mom... is that my student lead the way... it was a hard pill to swollow. But it's also been very freeing ❤🎉 God bless you in this amazing, sometimes crazy, beautiful journey! All links in description ❤

    I like the restaurant idea! We have so much play food that we are able to play. It never even crossed my mind to make menus and use our play money. Thanks for the great idea!

    See where I am 6 in December would put him in kindergarten. I have 2 late birthdays and in public school they are always technically a year lower because of their birthdays but homeschooling we are ahead 🤷‍♀️ so weird how different it can be.

      Yes! I find it so interesting how different states, or provinces decide on the grade level!

      Same. Mine had to be a certain age by August 31st. All of my kids are in Sept, Oct, and Nov lol.

    My daughter is the same though she is born in April 2018. We're already starting on grade 2 stuff. And reading at a grade 2-3 level. She is bright but I wouldn't be saying she's genious and needs "special" treatment.

      Agreed! A lot of people tell me I should have him tested and I don't feel the need to. He's just my 5 year old who likes learning and we have fun with it! ❤

      @@lifewithginab testing is a lot more necessary if in public school or other brick and mortar school, OR if trying to gain access to external stuff, sign him up for groups and classes ahead of age level, etc. when you don't have those needs, it's not so necessary.

      Exactly. Or if I was having a hard time actually with our academics when it comes to homeschoolong... but that's definitely not the case! Thanks for sharing all this! :)

    As a Canadian homeschool mom whose husband would LOVE to live off grid, I’d love to pick your brain.
    1. Does your husband commute to work daily or does he work from home?
    2. How often do you leave to meet up with other homeschool groups?

    • @lifewithginab
      @lifewithginab  Před 2 měsíci

      Hey mama! 🇨🇦 ❤️ of course you can pick my brain!
      1. At the moment we both work from home. Hubby does construction and does odd jobs here and there but primarily our income comes from online and passive income.
      2. As you know we just moved... so we we had a great group of friends in our previous country home. So we are still getting adjusted. I have some groups I'm exploring but ideally I would want to meet with friends once a week and weekends for our church kids group. I have a couple of homeschooling families we are exploring friendships with so we will see how that turns out but moving sure makes it difficult. I've signed up the kids for soccer 2x a week in the summer so that should be fun. We have a lot of extra curricular activities 20-25 mins away from us.

    We set up my daughters mini brand toys and then we use random number flashcards for the prices to “play store” and then the math is just done on like a whiteboard or a boogie board.

    The only thing I will say is be careful to make sure that your 5 year old isn’t missing anything when it comes to his foundation. My 7 year old son can do 6th grade math but if you look closely he is missing some basic concepts. They all slow down eventually and get it though. I also would say be careful when you advance because some stuff they aren’t ready for emotionally. They can be advance but not ready for certain topics. This is just a general suggestion and not aimed at you. We have talked about this before in previous videos.
