    At the new price we should be getting, The new 2.8 4cyl should be the 165kw / 550nm version and the v8 should be the 200kw version from the old 200 series and fitted with a 6 speed manual or auto. If the v8 is going they could fit the v6 from the 300 series. I agree the current model looks a lot better.

    also this new 70 series is not a 70 series its a hilux with the shape of the 70 sieres.... 70 series is defines by heavy duty diesel this new car is a 2.8 four cylinder HILUX ENGINE not a 70 series... They want to keep making money off the well known shape of the 70 series but want to end the v8... at least make a new engine for fkn 70 but no lets just take the engine from the Hillux and put it in the 70 series WHY wouldnt u just buy a hilux its exaclty the ssame. the worlds gone mad how is nobody saying this

      The V8 has only powered the Landcruiser since 07.
      Also Landcruisers have been available with 4cyl engines (that have also powered the Hilux) in other markets for decades.

    12:37 Orders for the Prado 150 spiked when the new one was revealed because people wanted to secure the current gen for themselves as the new one will be in some ways watered down (lack of wheelback, new Toyota interiors looking less classy, no more analog gauges, among many other things) so I think demand for the V8 will be there because people know it will not exist at some point (maybe now, maybe later, this situation is such a mess)

    Well I think it is interesting to see the next generation - I still do hope they keep the manual gearbox option in the car too - it's a bit sad to see it only coming in the 4 cylinder option - I hope they will bring it in a 6 cylinder option again too ?

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  Před 8 měsíci

      Luckily they have made some V8’s in the new model but aren’t taking any orders for them so who knows if they will actually take orders again. A basic diesel 6 cylinder would be a great option like they offer in the overseas markets

  • @imnotusingmyrealname4566
    @imnotusingmyrealname4566 Před 10 měsíci +2

    12:46 I fully agree. The new hood is way too simple geometrically and the lack of the hood scoop because of the different intercooler position makes it look neutered. I also really don't like the headlights and grill, as well as the bumper. They could've easily integrated the turn signals into the old design, although I don't think it works that well with the wider front.

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I’m glad you agree and thank you for watching. A lot of people like it but I think some like it because it’s all that Toyota will be offering and they already had it in order. Given the choice, I wonder what the majority would choose?

  • @imnotusingmyrealname4566
    @imnotusingmyrealname4566 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Speaking of the hood scoop the V8 is going to need a different hood for that intercooler. Something tells me that this new 70 Series will not come in a V8 because of that. They kept the wider front presumably because going back to the narrow would've required more work to make the extremely old design work with the new hardware but this also means worse performance with the different track widths. In short, they kept the wide front which makes the V8 possible but without a different hood it will not work. The wider was also likely kept just because using the same front section as the previous face-lift would've been easier than going back to the narrow front.

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Possibly. It seems like they want to keep the v8 in there though and all they are changing are the styling so everything else should fit up

    I ordered the 70 Series Wagon V8 mid June 2022 and have recently been told by the Dealership that if I still want the V8 I will be able to get it. However, it will be the upgraded 2024 Model as my vehicle order hasn't even been built. I'd be interested in your comment regarding this as I have a few doubts/questions with this information. First thing, its not the same vehicle I had ordered. Secondly, sounds like I have to settle for the new look vehicle whether or not I like it if wanting the V8. Could also be a way for the salesman to make a better/dearer sale? Any return comments would be appreciated.

    Big price hikes are sadly the name of the game with new Toyota body on frame vehicles. Land Cruiser got a big bump, Tundra got very big bump, Sequoia the same. The even more ridiculous thing with the 70 Series is that it's still the same vehicle underneath. Disappointing these new Toyota releases are.

    Mark I still think that are incorrect. "Drive" have published an article on the 2024 LC70 price rise and in it they say that the order books remain closed for the V8 until possibly early next year. The Workmate 76 Wagon will only come with the 2.8L 4 cylinder, and the refreshed V8 will incur price rises between $8350 and $8800. They have the complete list of all models and pricing, including the V8s. This information would only come from Toyota.

    Message is very clear. Toyota Australia announced new pricing for both V8 and 4cyl variant.
    Order books not opened yet for V8 (closed since July 2022)
    Toyota Australia taking orders for 4cyl variant only.
    I cannot read where stated V8 stopped (apart from dealers message)

      @NorthOz  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi mate. I understand your point of view. Not everyone’s cup of tea. I think a common misconception is spending big on these vehicles is a must. To me, they are quite a capable package out of the box. At $75k they cost as much as the upper spec hilux and both need mods to do hard off-road work. I honestly don’t see the hate the 79 gets and it really isn’t that much different than the others in the Toyota lineup in terms of reliability and build quality (although this landcruiser’s build quality is miles ahead of the hilux and a little bit better than the Prado). Just less tech, a V8 and solid axle. Having spent countless hours fixing and documenting rebuilding vehicles I understand the importance of basic vehicles but like I said, not everyone has had the same experience as me and won’t understand my perspective. If you would like some more perspective, check out my 10 part patrol build series where I spent most of the time fixing electrical issues for tech that the 79 doesn’t have 👍
