I repaired VCR’s professionally for about a decade. The best thing is foam wrapped cotton swabs for the beginner. The best thing I used was cut up pieces of virgin chamois I’d buy from Checker Auto or Autozone. Never ever use cotton swabs directly on video heads. You’ve gotten lucky. Cut a chamois into 1.5” square pieces and you can clean 4-8 VCR rotating heads with each piece. Cotton swabs and perfect for the audio and erase heads.

BTW’s you can use alcohol to clean the heads. I used a special formula you can’t buy anymore, but denatured alcohol should be great. And nice video minus the swabs 😳😄

Good morning Todd. What does the CST. IN light stands for? I put the tape on, hear some sound and then the CST.IN light stays permanently on. When I restart it, the tape is ejected. Take care and thanks.

My DVD recorder side works fine, However when you try to load the VHS, It loads in tray, the guides take the tape around the head, but the take up reel moves a little and stops, then deck cuts off. No FF/REW The screen shows the play Icon and the counter # at 0000 . If you try to start the tape inside already loaded, it kicks out the tape. I have decks like this before and if you eject and load the deck over and over, it sometimes kicks in. Also a couple hard taps have started things happening. I only paid $50, the DVD Recorder works fine. So worth the price. Hoping there was a quick fix.

I have a question for you. I recently bought an old VCR/DVD Player and when I went to press the power button (or any remote buttons for that matter) it will not respond. The buttons on the PLAYER work just fine but the remote will not work, no matter what I do. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Could you do a video about it? Thanks.

If the other buttons work, then you might need to just take the remote apart and clean the pads and board. Sometimes though they just wear out from being pushed too much.

could be the wrong remote, type the model # in Google and then check the remote. I know that you have checked the batteries right? I've done it a many of times. Some remote have a light come on when it sends a signal.

@@Electronicle when I took the top off it , i noticed that the laser was working, it didn't spin the dvd at all, and made this weird noise. I think it was the lazer trying to read it. I'm not sure what the problem is

I have two Blu-ray players and they both play DVDs but everytime I play a Blu-Ray in the player even if the Blu-ray is new, the Blu-ray player will say no disc or check the desk, I don't know if you've repaired a Blu-ray player or not if you know what that issue would be
