- Mayim Bialik - actress, writer, neuroscientist and founder of GrokNation.com - addresses what it means to grow from a girl to a woman biologically, psychologically and sociologically in her new book Girling Up: How to Be Strong, Smart and Spectacular. Best known as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, she also starred in the early-1990s sitcom Blossom. Mayim holds a BS from UCLA in Neuroscience and Hebrew and Jewish studies, as well as a PhD from UCLA in Neuroscience. She discusses navigating everything from first kisses and first periods to rocky friendships, family responsibilities, gender questions, body image issues, and figuring out one’s passion and place in the world.

She's so honest about the world of academia, too. Absolutely true. At 10 I just thought about playing, school, and just enjoyed life I colored and played with dolls.
I think it is important to distinguish a PhD from a job. The path to completing a PhD is a process of transformation. A job is a task for money. The process of transformation is lifelong the lessons gained are used throughout that journey. A job tends to be time-bound. In other words, a job can be lost; a PhD cannot.
Not only do we look alike we also grew up in similar households. She is great! My first love when I was an adult was a Jewish Man. I was so naive I took him home for Easter to Mom and Dad's for dinner....only I could be stupid! LOL, I have learned a lot since then and have great respect for the religion.

Usually love her her stuff, but that right there around the 20mins something mark - what the heck?! Not everyone in our industry makes mad amounts of money. Really happy for you that you get to have that privilege, that's awesome! However, the vast majority of us out here are fighting tooth and nail to get our pay boosted UP to minimum rate - and we don't have the luxury of an open platform like this to comment on it publicly, so please don't misrepresent your colleagues like that.
