  • here is my 8kw or 5kw as 8 kw is a lie diesel heater.
its been in use for a whole winter and half of this winter but recently the motor bearings began squeaking.
find out if you would be up to this seemingly simple but annoying complicated challenge!

This video save me, my heater was starting to make a lot of noise and it was the bearings, completely toast. I bought a new motor and followed your instructions, working like a charm. It took me 45 minutes taking care of not damaging the fragile centrifugal fan. The black one came easily. My gauge for the centrifugal fan was 0.28mm, for the black fan I pushed it as much as it would allow me without rattling. Good as new.

Hello from the high desert of New Mexico USA 🇺🇸. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us. I personally think that you did a good job for your first time and I have been installing and repairing diesel air heaters for over 20 years now. Keep up the good work and stay safe and God bless you and your family

Thanks for the video. Mine was starting to make noise so I watched your video to figure out how to get to the bearing to just oil them. So far it is quiet. I didn't take the entire thing apart, just removed the assembly and pulled off the fan blades to have access to the bearings. I used some 3-in -1 oil. So far so good.

Thanks for this video, was very informative. Always tough to take something apart for the first time. Thanks for allowing us to see this too. Because of your video, I think I should be able to do this also.

Thankyou for sharing this rebuild .. I was convinced my bearings are failing so your video has been very helpful.. being it’s cold here in the uk and Christmas and post strikes I’ve greased the original bearings for now .. I will replace in the summer .. just fired it up and it’s practically silent again .. better than when I 1st got it

  • @the_bloke_that_cuts_the_grass

Well done James! I like your videos because you show things how they are-warts and all😂. Anybody could easily edit out the feux pas but you show it all. People can then make an informed choice as to whether they want to repair or replace depending on their skill levels.

This was a great video. I've installed a few and love these things. Cheap pieces of crap that work really well for the most part. When over beans you almost don't want to take it apart bc it's so cheap, but fun to work on. I like how you just toss your tools after considering that it might not have been worth doing it all lol still worked! Cheers from an RV in AZ

When re-seating that end of the motor plastic with the soldering iron, you can always add a little from a zip tie, if needed, too.

I want to do this on my CDH , but I'm thinking of using a full ceramic bearing . These same size bearings are used in many applications like roller skates, skate boards, luggage wheels , and so on ... There's a rating for these bearings called ABEC . So an ABEC 11 bearing would be a good replacement .
Hopefully a full ceramic bearing will make the heater even more quiet .

My heater stopped firing up in less than ten starts. It was the glow plug that failed. Replaced with Kyocera plug. Now the blower motor is noisy. Just ordered new Japanese bearings. I wouldn`t hold my breath how long it takes until the pump gives up. 😂 Then there wouldn`t be anything to break anymore. These things are crap.

I just bought. Brand new heater and guess what the bearing is making a racket ,I have checked all the casing the fan the plastics and nothing is catching anywhere so has to be the bearing I’m gutted as previous heater didn’t last long kept clogging up with carbon or whatever you like to call it looked like it had run incredibly rich but whatever was wrong I accidentally broke the fan , got fed up and bought a new one soon as I fired the new one yes bearing making a racket , doubt our Chinese friend is gonna replace it but I live in hope but if not I’ll never ever buy another that’s for sure

Same here. I bought 2 heaters and started running one of them. Within 30 days of use the bearings started making noise and the controller died. I swapped it out with the second heater, and within *7 days* of use the bearings are now making noise.

The difference in the 5KW and the 8KW is the ECU is adjusted closer to the upper limits of the system both in moving more fuel and more airflow. Of course, its reduces the safety margin, wears out the components faster, and uses more fuel for the greater heat generation. Good video covering some of this by one who changed the ECU settings giving results is: czcams.com/video/gjhXflKayIg/video.html

PS....i think you may have forgotten to put that little end-float shim inside the motor housing...? I think you put it inside the inner blower wheel.....or maybe it doesn't matter? I may be wrong, though.
