My only problem with LOK is that it doesn’t ever feel like Korra actually has mastery over any element. She is not a beginner but she just seems so far from mastery, Anyone in the show who is just a slightly better bender washes her. The main problem with that is she has had so much time compared to Aang to do so that It feels embarrassing.
I think that was definitely by design from the writers. I mean, obviously, but I think they set her up to be arrogant so she could find the humility necessary to be the Avatar, and being coddled by masters during your development is actually detrimental and isn't a valid substitute for field experience. Aang was raised by master airbenders and had field experience. Korra was heavily supervised by the White Lotus and became sheltered because of it. When it came time for her to fight an actual enemy, she couldn't succeed because she was so used to relying on the safety-nets of White Lotus supervision. This isn't a mistake on her part, but a plot element the writers included intentionally so that Korra could experience hardship.
@@dashtodash So, is someone not allowed to have an issue with it just because it’s an intentional writing decision?
@@Watermelon_Man Blew that kind of out of proportion, my dude. Context is important and changes entire stories just knowing something you didn't before so yeah.
Also have you just never partaken in an argument. Human opinion is to be shared not kept away. For example, if i I said "Zuko's character arc is forced," Do you not think that lots, maybe you as well, would share your opinions on the matter and try to convince me that I should have a different view. That's what an argument, or a debate, is.
Perhaps you could have worded it like: "It being intentional doesn't make it good," or something of the sort
@@anonymoust6226 I said one sentence, but I’m the one blowing things out of proportion? Laughable
@dashtodash while I got that, and I certainly respect that, the problem I have with it is that it feels so forced. Also repeated. Like, it was like she has to have the point beaten unto her for 2 and a half seasons before she starts to make any headway. And she still ends up making the same mistakes. Her character arc is the epitome of frustration. Not to mention that my problem as a whole with the show isn't even the characters, they're alright, I guess, it's the plottwists in the story. They just don't be making sense. I came into the show with high expectations, for sure, but I went away during the beginning of the third season just absolutely uninterested in continuing the love hate relationship with Korra.

I wish bolin was the avatar. Overall i like the show because it shows that even the avatar can get cooked. And aang proved that training in the feild is infinitely better than training with "masters"
Aang literally trained with Masters as well tf?
Not really. He kinda met masters and maybe picked up a thing or 2 but korra was training with "masters" since she was a child and maybe that in school practice isn't as beneficial as being out in the field practice. could be wrong tho
@@ikilledzombie2140Dude a week with a water bender master a day with a fire master before adding zuko for weeks before a war ignoring the fact he had to fight zuko and his nations commander for months to survive. Only one he got ALOT of time with was Toph. Of course he was already a master of air but he was also raised by airbenders he had the mental calm and spirituality to use it. Meanwhile Korra is isolated from even friends and saw no real fight til she was like 17. Aang at least had a life and went to other nations before even becoming a master of air.
Yea ngl bolin actually gave avatar personality. I honestly don’t think korra is that likable as a character
@@FarikoWishless The only bending style that Aang impressively learned was Waterbending. He still picked up fire bending pretty quickly with a fire bending master. Toph arguably the best teacher in that verse as well. Then proceeded to learn true fire bending from dragons. Aang didn’t really completely master all 4 elements. Korra on the other hand mastered 3/4 at a younger age. The major difference between Aang and Korra is that Aang relied completely on bending in a world where there wasn’t really any creativity or fighting styles. After the war you see how much influence different teachings had by the way LoK cast fight
Korra’s the anti Aang. Aang was a monk, understood he had to get his feelings in check so he could be the avatar. Korra isn’t calm cool or collected and it causes her to get ran fr
The main reason I don't like Legend of Korea is because of the ending of the avatar connection. It essentially meant Aang (and the other past avatars) were gone for good.

Why Korra don’t carry a canteen of water around with her? As much as she gets her ass whooped she need to make sure she got access to all four elements at all times. 😂
Imma say it: bending battles were more interesting when everyone wasn’t as agile as Aang and Ty Lee. Too many dodges and flips and jumps. Not enough using your bending as defense
Yep, the water and earth nations forming water shields and boulders kicked up from the ground to take the brunt of another benders attack was always so fire. I feel like bending in general was just handled worse in Korra generally.
Bros all the agile movement makes things more interesting. Bending is waaay more dynamic in Korra, save for aang who was a master of agility. Hell some of the best fights in avatar had almost no blocking. Aang vs ozai, katara vs pakku, the final Agni Kai, sokka vs piandao. Season 1 Korra was going up against blood benders, metal benders, lightning benders, people who can take away your bending permanently, and professional benders who are master level. If she didn’t get her shit rocked it’d be bullshit.
By the end of season 2 she’d already resurrected air bending and literally fought the spirit of darkens and brought balance to the sprit and Earth world. No shit she’d have PTSD by season 4.

The Lion Turtle's cheap, but let's not act like Aang couldn't have won that fight alone.
bruh Aang didn't even need the avatar state to win and he knew it. His ONLY difficulty during that fight was finding a way to stop Ozai without killing him. He had him cooked from the start with the lightning redirection but stopped himself.
He had Ozai on the ropes, what are you talking about? He didn't need the avatar state or energy bending, the problem for him was stopping Ozai without killing him, that's what the energy bending was for.
Korra was essentially a cripple this entire season thats why she was getting beat like this
No. Even if she was healthy she would lose. I’m not taking that final fight against kuvira as a real win since kuvira herself was handicapped as opposed to Korra.
@@davesenatus5566How was Kuvira handicapped? Tf
Korra who was at a disavantage, fighting a master metalbender in a closed metal room where she couldn't do large scale attacks, had no water or earth. The only hit Kuvita got was by dragging her in a metal ceiling. Put them anywhere else and Kuvira gets stomped.
@@jihosz Bro. Korra cannot be at a disadvantage. She could bend earth, fire, water(from the atmosphere and sweat), and METAL as opposed to Kuvira who could only bend metal. We saw from their first fight that Kuvira even while barely trying was mainly relying on earth; taking that away puts her at a massive disadvantage.
@@davesenatus5566 It was a fast paced fight in a closed space. When was Korra supposed to stop and gather water from air? sweat? Kuvira stabs her in the head then what? That's absurd to even suggest that anyone would do that in the middle of a fight like that one. Why would anyone do that?
Kuvira could "only" metalbend in a room surrounded by metal is crazy, again the only time she managed to get a hit on Korra was by using the metal ceiling. Anywhere else Kuvira gets stomped, Korra has superior earthbending feats and was fully recovered. that's the reason why the writers made them fight inside the metal room. That's also ignoring the fact that Korra wasn't trying to kill her, the air dropkick and that last airblast that Kuvira took directly in the face could've been fire and that would seriously injure her.
"I owe the Avatar my life, her power is beyond anything I could ever hope to achieve" -Kuvira.
Is not a discussion tbh.
@@jihosz Yeah no. Korra being strong with Earth doesn't make her better than Kuvira with Earth. I didn't say Kuvira would win but it could have honestly gone both ways, I already explained that Kuvira was 100% handi-capped, and you're just saying "Oh she would have lost anyways".
I could legit do the same thing and say Korra would still lose their first battle handicapped or not. At least Kuvira did better with her handicap than Korra.
And her saying "Her power is beyond everything I could achieve", well no duh. She has 4 elements+Metal as opposed to just Earth and metal, everyone who has lived would say that about any of the avatars.
Kuvira is better end of story.

did nobody peep his leland comment at 3:47 “ig i’ll jus buy the games again” 😭😭😭😭 IFYKYK
To be fair to Korra, she was not 100% in that Kuvira fight. On top of just recently removing the poison that almost took her out, she was also suffering from PTSD. We actually got to see how well a recovered Korra did against Kuvira the second time without even going into the avatar state. Thing is, Korra is really strong and can fight. I think I once saw a video where the creators stated that Korra most likely would defeat Aang in a fight more often than he would defeat her. Even if someone does not believe that, I think it is quite clear that The Legend of Korra had greater threats from bloodbenders that can use their abilities any time (not just a full moon) to a dark avatar.
ehhh aangs mindest would let him win more maybe korra is stronger when all stars align but aang is solid in his weakest moments .
@BoxingisgoatedBoxingisgoated You're going to compare 40-year old Aang to 16-year (or even 21-year) old Korra? Of course he washes her, what a weird argument. I'd also like to point out that Air was her weakest element because it directly opposed her personality, just like how Aang couldn't bend Earth because it was the element opposite of his personality. The difference is that Aang found Toph to mentor him-Tenzin didn't come to train Korra until she was 16. Keep in mind, she bent the other 3 elements as a toddler. I'll also point out that Aang lost to Fire Army archers, got rocked by Hama, had to run away from Combustion Man, lost twice to Azula (and even died once), and was getting mollywhopped by Ozai before he hit that rock and the Avatar State took over. He's not infallible, just like Korra doesn't "always lose;" they both got their Ls and Ws. Also going to point out that while Aang was able to take people's bending away, Korra learned how to project her spirit Kaiju without the help of a spirit other than Raava, and was able to create a portal linking planes of existence with her Energy Bending.
@BoxingisgoatedBoxingisgoated The inclusion of Adult Aang was weird, but fine. That said, Konietzko did say that Aang runs 9/10 times and that Korra beats his ass the one time he doesn't. But naw, he couldn't bend Earth at all until Sokka got stuck in a hole. The times before then that he did Earth Bend were in the Avatar State. Also: she didn't start training in air bending until Tenzin started training her at 16, and she learned how to air bend before the first time skip (which was about 6 months, so still under a year). What I'll also point out was that two of Korra's Ls were against significantly stronger Bloodbenders than Hama (read: neither needed a full moon and one could psychic Bloodbend). The comet is a moot point because Aang is also a Fire Bender-if Ozai's scaling on it, Aang will too. Nothing's stopping him from bending Ozai's fire like Zuko did with Azula, and in fact, like he did with Ozai's lightning. Him failing to fight back because he suddenly has misgivings about killing people after sinking 30 Fire Nation vessels in freezing arctic water, in enemy territory is a flimsy defense imo.

Korra's enemies being stronger than Aang's is one thing but bending changed since Aang defeated Ozai. Benders became more efficient. You had everybody and their mom lightning and metal bending, random mfs running around chi blocking, and probending becoming a sport. A popular theory is the fire nation family was keeping lighting scrolls hidden and the knowledge of lighting bending got out after Aang defeated Ozai. Thats why we've only seen Ozai, Iroh, and Azula lightning bend.
Though avatar squad was also very clever and smart. Outwitting armies. I think if you put them in this setting they would still do well cause each member is strong and they have great teamwork. Korra team was very divided and easily taken advantage of by others .

@GrimAngel01100 so you think the queen of metal and earth bending would lose to getting cuffed and blindfolded? Any earth chucked at toph would be reused instantly, since she feels the move with her seismic sense 🤣 aang would have been kuvira truthfully
@@MugiwaraWaters yes, she would have been folded. No, Kuvira isn't going to waste time blindfolding her, she knows she has seismic sense, it's common earthbender/ metal bender knowledge.
What she will lose to is Kuvira manipulating and changing the directions of her metal bands mid air, which Toph quite literally can't see because her seismic sense doesn't work on anything airborne.
Aang would not have beaten Kuvira, and if he can it's ONLY because she, like everyone else, has no idea on how to fight an airbender.
Aang would lose for the same reason Korra loses most of her fights: the traditional fighting styles are outdated and can't keep up with the more fast paced and direct modern "boxing"/"MMA" styles. Hell, Toph had trouble with Aang because he was light on his feat. Kuvira is probably the most light footed earthbender we've seen, she doesn't fight like a normal earthbender with her feet firmly planted
Plus, they made it a point in the show that during this fight Korra still isnt mentally well, and so is still sluggish and sloppy just like when she sparred Toph she's still trauma and dealing with PTSD.

I’m with you on this bro, I hate her because she the reason why aang and Kyoshi are gone…..KYOSHI 🥷🏽 Kyoshi was my favorite she didn’t play 😭
Cope
My boy kyoshi is not gone😭😭 and Korra didn’t lose the connection, Vatuu lost the connection. And don’t start with that “oh but it was her responsibility to protect it” it was also Aangs responsibility to protect the world but he ran away which led to a genocide.
Glad I wasn’t the only kid walking out of the theater roasting the live action, knowing it was one the worst adaptations of a story into a movie

WDYM Indian actors are always the best
@@user-bw9wz1jd9lnobody said that they are the worst. The actor did a good job but god damn Fire Nation was never an indian army
Toph was the one who started metal bending, whatever Kuvira learned passed down from Toph.
Your not immune to your own bending, ask P,li
Bruh we finally get an avatar that isnt a mary sue, who is actually dynamic enough of a character to endure defeat, endure torture, endure paralysis, endure losing her avatar link, and still bounce back, and yall wanna dunk on her because she wasnt written with 15 layers of plot armor or automatically wins every fight by default.
Sorry, Aang got some tough hands dealt to him, for sure, but Korra straight got choke-slammed into the poker table, and she still ante'd up
Are you intentionally ignoring that Korra was trained since a toddler by the best masters to face these tribulations and Aang was a 12 year old with a single element and a year to defeat an empire?
SHES LITERALLY A MARY SUE BY DEFINITION YOU FUCKING JOKIN RN LMAOOOOOOOOOO
Yeah... Korra had to go thru that shit as damn near an adult with much less riding on her success, at the beginning at least. 12 year old vs full grown man threatening to reduce regions to ash on the day he's most powerful, succeed or die. That's a little heavy for a kid, 1 hundred year gap in time or not, that's a whole ass 4 or 5th grader being trusted with the fate of possibly the world
I'm not saying korra was bad, I liked the way they wrote her with it being a different time period, just don't know about her struggle bus plea, she was 17 to 18 in the first couple books and that's get kicked out the house and fend for yourself age for some 🤷🏽♂️
@@gooberwtf Korra was bad
The difference is the Airbenders fighting style. All the other styles are focused on attacks while the Airbenders are more defensive counter strikers and you add that with the Airbending they are basically unstoppable.
Oh and also I think I should add Aang had an advantage at fighting because the Airbenders were gone for a 100 years so no one really saw their style till Aang came back
@@Highspirekid13Keep trolling Aang scales solo
I can sit through a lot of uncomfortable scenes but ive never been able to finish the epsiode where theyre blood bending baby wolves 🥲
Whhaaaattt i don't remember that! 😰
Pfft
Yall finished that live action avatar? I made it to that rock bending scene and said na 😂
i love Korra.
"Let's ask her" Yo that shkt was wild 😂😂
Man what we'd even do to shamalan to deserve that movie
This show has the twilight issue where everyone but the MC is a well written character
Still need to watch all of Korra, but is there any earthbender in LoK that Toph wouldn't completely wash?
Not really fe fr earth bending in korra is really small scale. we don't see any big bending like toph or bumi
Bumi and that’s about it.
bolin and the red lotus dude
She is quite literally the best earth bender in history by far, and I her prime could arguable wash some avatars w/o the avatar state. In LoK bolin would probably last a few minutes.
@@cyborgboy9854 I think Gazan could put up a decent fight as well. In terms of pure skill, I think he outranks Bolin, and I'm sure Prime Gazan was a terror. SPOILERS: Bolin only won that match-up because Mako electrocuted Ming Hua and went to overpower him. It might have ended in a stalemate otherwise.
Korra fought CRIMINALS and Sadist. Aang didn’t come across a true sadist til Azula and ALWAYS had a team involved in the fight or a distraction like Zuko. The one fight he had with Azula solo and without Avatar state she was holding her own but he got distance enough to focus the drill AFTER he got KOd by her.
People try too hard to shit on Korra when she had to fight a couple Azulas after 17 years of isolation in ONE nation. We also KNOW why she got fucked up by Kuvira it’s literally part of the story that she has PTSD from Season 3 even with the final bit of poison out her mental state aid absolutely cooked. People pretend she’s the worst Avatar when other Avatars failed in crazier ways.
ATLA is also better constructed because they were allowed to make a full show. Korra was told EVERY SINGLE SEASON by Nickelodeon executives that they had to end it it’s their last season. Told that since Season One 😂. It’s why Amon didn’t get past that one season. Let’s not forget the rushing of Season 2 and having to pass it to a way more hastily animated studio until Beginnings.
This😂😂😂I love Tony but he is just like brainless haters that have no context to why LoK failed to live up to the ATLA hype. 99% of ATLA fans cant even remember concrete evidence to that proves your statement
Bruh that's what I'm saying! Aang and Korra's enemy pool were NOT the same! Korra's enemies would easily dumpster any of Aang's.
Bru she had a whole Ancient organization training her. She has no excuses besides that her show was badly made
Yall bugging gaang would ragdoll korras villains
@@myronwilliams3340 dawg the scariest villain in TLA was Azula, and she was just a manic brat. Villains in Korra were MFS like Amon who wanted to eliminate bending altogether, or Zahir and his criminal crew. LoK literally showed an Airbender sucking the oxygen out of a woman's lungs and murdering her. Where in TLA did anything like THAT ever happen?
They fucked up that live action show too bro like everything looks good but they changed they way things were told and it makes it feel kinda rushed like we got what 3 episodes of the cartoons showed in one episode of the live action one
Kuvira dodges like an Airbender
The LOK is really good, the character grows on you but i don't like a character for just winning fights so maybe that's why
I agree with you. I thought LoK was fantastic, even succeeding TLA in places. These kids still think main characters should get main character treatment and cant handle a dash of realism in their precious little cartoon world
@@dashtodashThat's not really the case, she got her ass whooped so many times it doesn't even have anything to do with not being able to handle 'No mc' energy. Losing a handful of times is one thing, but losing every damn time is outrageous 💀
Shit sucks
@@dashtodash you're actually just dumb holy shit
@@moonewhisper3982Well, for one, Korra does not lose every fight. She swept up teams in the Pro Bending Circuit, but that's not the point, because what LoK is trying to teach its audience is that winning fights isn't what's most important. Avatar ain't DBZ or MMA, sorry. It's a story about growth and tenacity, not about being the coolest main character that a writer can think up.
Toph literally takes Kuvira to school with the difference in skill imo.
We need a hood avatar reaction Tony
Somebody remind bro zuki v azula was during the comet
Korra did more for the spirit world/physical world than szeto, yangchen, kuruk, kyoshi, roku, and aang wish they could do
The spirts negatively affected by the new portal and those of republic city beg to differ
@@luminousxii Wan closed the portals to minimise the human-spirit conflicts in order to protect both sides and Korra opened the portals to establish a positive connection between the humans and spirits. Essentially both Avatars made the opposite choices for the same motive; peace between the two worlds. I feel it’s better to say that both acted for the right reasons rather than deeming said actions as right or wrong Plus, Wan also closed off the spirit portals cuz Vaatu was sealed in the Tree of Time, which Korra doesn't have to worry about after destroying Vaatu
@daronmartin4979 there's a couple things wrong with this. One, we see the direct results of both of their actions. The spirits don't have to attack humans because most of them don't have to interact with them anymore, meaning both sides can flourish in their own worlds. In lok post portal opening and the new one in republic city, the main conflict in the comics has been that spirits hate humans because of their technology and their invasive nature into the spirit world. They don't like how kuvira harvested spirit vines, they don't like how korra and Asami are flying planes through their world, they don't like how president raiko used the new portal as a vacation spot for profit, etc. Intentions aside it's clear to see which choice was the right one. Also vaatu is destined to respawn, wan locking him a away was a permanent solution, korras was temporary
You didn’t watch the show
And we don't give a shit. There shouldn't have been a sequel
Bru in any case, The last battle was iffy cuz Korea snuck her. AMD EVEN THEN IT ENDED IN A DRAW!!!
she didnt sneak her at all and it def wasnt a draw kuvira was literally running away
Kuvira ran for a reason
@fox83135 Korra is useless. Useless !!!
i somehow got here this early
Idk what's the point in saying that a character is bad because it doesn't win, especially in Korra's case cuz she was written as a complete opposite of Aang: he starts as a humble kid who can't face to be the avatar, but when he accepts it, he masters all four elements and saves the world. Korra is a spoiled brat who things she's tough shit because she masters 3 elements at 16 but gets humbled over and over until she learns to stand up. Who the hell watches Avatar thinking its about the Avatar being dope? we watch for character development
Aang had a summer or at most a year to master the elements and defeat the fire lord during the comet at age 12. The only character development I saw with Korra was who she dated each season
@@killaaks6165you simply dont remember the show.
@@killaaks6165Sure buddy
@@killaaks6165 1) each book lasted a season, he didn't have a summer he needed an entire pregnancy time, which I agree is still very little, he's goated
2) korra became much much better than how she started, but as i said, she kept getting humbled, the writers deliberately made her very good at the start making her fall more and more with each ep, I'm not saying they did a perfect job but there was payoff especially in seasons 3 and 4
On some shit, u never watched avatar thinking about how innately the avatar is just more op than the people they’re facing? Like watching aang during the first part but those times yk where if he taps into the avatar state or just locks in he’s gonna destroy whoever tf he’s fighting and that makes him dope
Ofc u dont remembere the second fight, people only like to show korra when shes at her worst
Korra still gets her ass beat in the final fight. Kuvira literally throws a brick at her head and runs away LMAO
@xiNerdLordix "Stand down. This battle is over. I owe the avatar my life. Her power is beyond anything I could hope to achieve."
Still cant convince me that shes not the worst of the worst avatar
Bullshit !!!
Worst avatar ever !!!
Toph winning without question💀
didnt adult aang almost get cooked by a water bender :skull:
