    I think it was 1996 when my boyfriend at the time introduced me to this song. We lay on the floor of his room, looking at the night sky and listening to this song. I will always remember that. Damn, I miss the 90s. What a great time to be young.

    Andy was flatmates with Chris, and Temple of the dog was the tribute to him, as was songs like "Would?" by Alice In Chains (the title being a play on his surname - in the video for this song the red jumper Layne wears was Andy's and one of his favourites) - while this is my favourite MLB track by far, i do recommend checking Stargazer, Man of golden words, Stardog champion and This is Shangri-La :)

Stone and Jeff went on to Pearl Jam (and Temple of the Dog) after Andy's death (OD). MLB's 'This is Shangrila' is another good one. So is: Bone China__Holy Roller__Stargazer__Stardog Champion. Apple is just a really good album.

  • @fgrillo29
    @fgrillo29 Před 3 lety +1

    Mother Love Bone was Bruce Fairweather, Stone Gossard, Greg Gilmore, Jeff Ament and Andrew Wood. They were poised for success when Andy died of a heroine overdose. Stone and Jeff recorded demos with Matt Cameron (Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog) on drums and Mike McCready on lead guitar in hopes of finding a singer for a new band. That demo made it to San Diego and into the hands of Eddie Vedder. He recorded vocals on those demos and travelled to Seattle to record with the new band with original drummer, Dave Krusen. Those recordings became the album Ten. They were originally named Mookie Blaylock but changed their name to Pearl Jam and the rest is history.

    As much as I adore Mother Love Bone, they didn't put out much music and what you just listened to is arguably their best piece of art. They have a bluesy/Glam rock style that was the transition from Glam Rock to the thicker darker Grunge that killed off most of the Glam rockers. Most of their other songs are probably artifacts of the era, and although I and others that lived through this time , enjoy it, I fear it might not be to your liking. If I would suggest anything else by them, I'd suggest Gentle Groove, Man of Golden Words or Bone China, maybe Stargazer if you liked the others.

    Man I don't want to say someone did something they didn't but if this song isn't a suicide note I don't know what it is. Especially since it's the last song on the record and he died right after. It's the same way circles is with Mac miller and this songs just feels like a out with it building to this grand finale. He has another song called gentle groove where one of the lines is "till kingdom come the work is done on earth as it is in dallas. I absolutely love that line but it just perplexes me and that song ends almost the same way as crown of thrones and the songs about the same subject his gf xana.
